How to Get There
We just stay at The pelican krabi on Friday 30 November, and our family have a guest come from USA. We love this place very much, our rooms was a deluxe 2 bedrooms suit, it have comfortable facility, beautiful, clean and spacious area so we can join activity together. The staff have excellent service mind. We love nice and beautiful pool so we can swimming all day in clam environment. The Globe bar and restaurant have many kind food in the morning. We can see to beautiful beach just walk 5 minute opposite the hotel. I recommend if you are visit Krabi and want to have new experience with beautiful beach like private.
Everything about The Pelican is great : Location, Rooms/suites, Food..the only deterrent is the service. The staff are well mannered and well meaning, but communication is a BIG issue here. They struggle with English and thus the experience hampers.
We took a 2 BR pool suite, which is just magnificent. Apt for a small family. The furnishings are more like a service apartment than a hotel. There are two bedrooms, two washrooms, a living room, a small kitchenette, a small gallery and a private pool. The pool size is good and the hygiene standards are high. The aura is inviting and exudes cosiness. The microwave in our kitchen was faulty. But that's not an issue as almost every other food joint delivers here.
The restaurant is basic, and so is the service there. The house keeping service is lethargic and inefficient at best. The only saving grace is Mr. James who tried his best to make us feel comfortable, and its due to him we survived our stay here. Big thanks to him!
Overall a good property with good rooms and great value.
Before you get to far into reading this review I’d like to start by saying that we had a great time.
Before travelling to the Pelican I took the time to read some of the good reviews and most of the not so good.
Both have merit.
We didn’t get off to a great start as the hotel forgot to collect us from the airport but this saved us 500 Bart as the airport taxis are cheaper.
On checking in things didn’t go quite so well either, first of the checking staff wanted us to leave a cash deposit which came to as much as the room, when I refused they said that they could take it from my credit card and reimburse me with in 30 days, naturally I refused this request as well and we agreed that they could take a photocopy of the card. According to the manager the next morning this was a misunderstanding from the check in staff as they were still training, if you read the reviews you’ll see this wasn’t the first time this has happened!!!
Once this was all sorted we were shown to our room, which wasn’t the one we’d expected but this was sorted the next day. The rooms are large clean and very well presented.
The outside of the hotel could really do with some TLC but the pool area itself and the restaurant area were very well maintained.
Probably the biggest disappointment for us and one of the main reasons for booking this hotel was the beach club which is situated across the road over looking the beach, it was closed with no sign of it ever reopening.
The buffet breakfast is very limited, after the second day all of the hot elements had been removed so you had to order what you wanted which is not great hassle and at least it’s fresh. there was never more than 2 choices of fruit, mainly melon and papaya
The hotel bar/restaurant is expensive with little choice, but don’t let this put you off as there are more than enough beach side bars most of which serve great food at very affordable prices, you can have a whole meal for not much more than one dish at the hotel.
The hotel staff are all very friendly and try very hard to accommodate your requests.
If I’m being completely honest I would say that this is more of an apartment complex rather than a hotel but that’s just my opinion.
I would certainly recommend hiring a car to visit some of the surrounding areas.
Car hire is cheap and it’s easy to find your way around, just watch out for the scooters.
Would I stay at the Pelican again probably not would I stay in this area again definitely.
As I said at the start we had a great holiday.
We booked this hotel because we read a ton of excellent reviews about it. We stayed there for about 5 days for vacation. The location is pretty far from the lively scene (Ao Nang location). It's a few steps away from the beach - although the beach isn't as great as I thought it'd be.
When we landed in Krabi - the hotel had used a 3rd party car service. The person who had picked us up was at a different location of the airport so we waited for a while to get picked up, but during that time we were able to exchange money and get SIM cards. When we arrived to the hotel, it took a while for us to check in. One of the employees couldn't understand us well, so she had her colleague finish our check in process. We got upgraded to one of the garden rooms with a pool because it seemed like the hotel was under renovation. But, it was nice to get our own pool in the back. The back area where the pool was wasn't really clean, there were weeds everywhere and were not trimmed, the waterfall in the pool wasn't working. A down fall about our room - we had NO hot water! Which i wish that could've been fixed.
Overall, would I book this hotel again if we went to Krabi? Maybe not - although the staffer were very kind and helpful when we needed additional towels or toiletries. I did like how we had a kitchen with a stove and refrigerator so in case we decided to make a trip out to buy some food or drinks.
I booked this hotel because it was on the beach and had a 2 bedroom suite with private pool. The room was great! We had a fun time in the private pool.
However, the hotel has no arrangements made for their guests at the beach. No sitting areas and no place to keep your stuff if you wish to go for a dip in the sea.
Another issue was that if you have to walk a lot from your room to the beach as they have all the connecting doors locked. They have made the doors then they should open them for easy access.
Staff was nice and the breakfast was okay.
And no room service. It is in an isolated area, therefore, it is mandatory to have room service.
Overall I feel it's a great place but needs a little bit of change and maintenance.
