Perched on the sun-drenched cliffs that overlook the Andaman Sea in Koh
Lanta, The Houben Hotel is an intimate boutique destination. The property is home to just 15 guest rooms,
all with a stunning sea view and modern, traditionally inspired
interiors that exude luxury.
Walk a few steps down to
the hotel’s sunny terrace to slip into the infinity
pool, and walk a little way beyond the hotel grounds to find Kantieng
Bay, the perfect hideaway beach on Koh Lanta island. In the evening,
beautiful warm accents of red and orange light up this space and create
a harmonious spot for a fruity cocktail or Thai beer.
Houben snagged a spot among Koh Lanta’s top five hotels on TripAdvisor and also nabbed one of the site’s Travelers’ Choice awards for being one of Thailand’s
top 25 hotels for romance, promising your stay here will be one to remember. After all, just as with its location, the view’s just better from the top.
Superior rooms feature a private balcony and are
situated just a few steps from the infinity pool, while the balcony in the Deluxe rooms
offers breathtaking views and a private Jacuzzi.
The guest rooms combine fresh tones with warming accents and Thai
textures. A single-cup gourmet coffee maker,
flat-screen TV and oversized fluffy towels add the finishing luxurious
touches to these small slices of boutique heaven.
Houben Hotel provides a breakfast of tasty treats and fresh ingredients to
start your day in Thailand. The Red Alert Bar & Restaurant serves a
variety of cuisines in the open air beside the infinity pool, including
imported Belgian foods – specially selected by the hotel’s Belgian
owners – alongside Thai specialties.
Here, you’ll be able to attain relaxation to the fullest degree. The hotel offers
revitalizing spa treatments designed to de-stress you and complement Koh
Lanta’s easy-going atmosphere. Massages, skincare and botanical
treatments are delivered by expert members of staff, skilled in the areas
of pampering and serenity.
The hotel is
perfectly positioned on a cliff, affording it spectacular sea views. It’s also just a five-minute walk from nearby bars, restaurants
and shopping areas. Bakantiang Beach is not too far and a perfect spot
to see the horizon, with white sands between your toes.
How to Get There
An absolutely amazing hotel. Friendly helpful staff. Great rooms are excellent food. We loved it. My wife organized my birthday surprise. Cake, wine and surprise with the staff. Will definitely return to this amazing hotel next holiday. Koh Lanta is so beautiful and low key. The Houben is probably the best hotel I have stayed in.
This was my 4th visit to Koh Lanta & every time we've been we've stayed in the houben. This time we stayed in another luxury hotel on the other side of the island to be near friends & what a massive mistake that was!! We left after 2 days & went back to the houben.
No other hotel on the island comes even close to this place.
The hotel is situated in the perfect spot to give you views that take your breath away. It's also walking distance to shops, restaurants, bars & a little sneeky cave & beach which is always empty.
Staying in the bigger hotels on this island you lose the personal, friendly, homely feeling that u get from the houben. You tell them something u like once & the remember, like the coconut jam that I got at breakfast.
I've stayed in all the different rooms in this hotel & honestly I couldn't fault any of them, they're beautiful, comfortable, specious & above all else spotlessly clean!
The hotel grounds are beautiful as well & the red pool is a big wow point!
The only thing missing from our stay was Shana who was away while we were there but she left the place in good hands with her amazing staff & the beautiful owner jeab.
Thank you to everyone at the Houben, looking forward to my next trip!!
Small, adults only hotel which is great if you’re looking for a quiet break. The pool area is relaxing, and the pool large enough to swim around in.
Rooms a spacious with nice balconies - we were on the third floor with great views. Got moved to an upgraded room after our air con broke which had a lovely jacuzzi bath overlooking the ocean (although took a long time to fill!). Comfy, large beds, large bathrooms and plenty of space for luggage.
Nice breakfast, didn’t eat dinner at the hotel, plenty of other places to eat. Short walk from the beach.
Slightly tired in places, the paint could do with a touch up, but doesn’t affect your stay! Would recommend - watch out for the monkeys at happy hour!
Stay for 6 days at the Houben and had a wonderful time. Amazing view over the Andaman sea, very nice pool and modern, comfortable and well equipped spacious rooms. The staff was super friendly and helpful, they arranged all my transportation, scooter, day trips, spa,... and accommodated all wishes.
Location is great, just a 10 min walk to the center with restaurants and shops and the beach. Also great for exploring the wonderful beaches in the south.
Can only highly recommend the Houben if you want to stay in the beautiful south part of Ko Lanta.
I hate to write a bad review for this gorgeous hotel on a unique property, but this was the most disappointing end to our romantic holiday. On our last night, we found 20 dime-sized black bugs in our room. We asked the hotel staff to investigate where they were coming from, but all they did was sweep the floor and guarantee no more bugs would get in. We spent the next few hours finding bugs in our bath, our clothes in the drawers, and our bed. After removing them all, we finally went to bed. At 2am we were awoken to bugs crawling on us. It took an hour to get ahold of any hotel staff (the front desk does not operate 24 hours) and finally the owner came to our room. She was visibly angry that we had woken her, scoffed at us, and explained that in the rainy season this happens all the time. We are reasonable people and would’ve been very understanding about the bugs had ANY of the staff simply apologized. We didn’t get a single sorry. The owner was nothing but rude and disrespectful. Her only words were, “lady, take a nap”. We found seven more bugs in our bed that night. I have never in my life been treated so poorly at a hotel.
