How to Get There
A family adult group of 9 people stayed here to celebrate a birthday; room was fine and clean and the 2 pools were fine. However there were insufficient sunbeds and several were broken and breakfast (included in our room rate) was a challenge every morning as staff were disorganised and there were long waits for cutlery etc!! The public beach next to the hotel is beautiful but very crowded. Disappointing compared with other hotels we stayed in during our trip
People seemed to book pool side rooms as an excuse to relax and let their kids run wild ....our entire trip we had 2 different groups who invaded the pool and yelled splashed and screamed so much that we couldn’t sit outside - suggest the hotel makes one pool for adults/quiet and the other kid friendly
My partner and I booked Railay Village Resort on the back of some good reviews. However due to all the ferries being cancelled were unable to get to the Resort. The Resort promised us a refund for the night due to the cancelled ferries and now a month later is still yet to return our money. Beware of this hotel as they were not at all accommodating to us and have not followed through with their promise to refund us. Overall their lack of refund has soured what was otherwise a great trip especially as this was our most expensive accommodation and through no fault of our own were unable to get to Railay.
First of all we spent the 1600 baht and booked transport from the airport in Krabi to the hotel (the hotel will arrange this for you). Best money spent. We walked out of the airport, had a driver waiting for us with a sign and an air-conditioned van. He drove us straight to the pier, they put our luggage in a golf cart, drove the two of us out to the end of the pier, put us in a longboat and took us directly to Railay, NO WAITING for anyone else! When we arrived on the East Side of Railay, the hotel had a guy with a luggage cart waiting for us and it was about a 2 minute walk to the hotel. I know this can be done cheaper if you do it yourself but there is no waiting to fill a boat, no carrying luggage across the sand etc.
The hotel was great. We had a spa room (with the tub). Great room, very big but never even used the tub when you have such a great shower and pool.
The restaurant at the hotel wasn't our favourite but there are so many other choices within a 1 minute walk it wasn't a big deal.
We took full advantage of of all the activities. We hiked to the viewpoint, into the lagoon, did a full day jet boat tour to other islands, snorkelled, watched a Muay Thai match, enjoyed happy hours, watched the sunset over Railey with cocktails in front of the hotel and ate a ton of great Thai food.
We really enjoyed our stay at Railay Village, mostly due to its charming, quiet ambience and how it can transport you away from the tourist hustle and bustle of Krabi. Located on the West side of Railay, this resort enjoys access to the much more accessible, picturesque, and quieter beach, as compared to Railay East or Ao Nang. At this price point, I would absolutely recommend this hotel and stay here again.
The villas are comfortable with well functioning air conditioning, refrigerators (with mini-bar and unlimited free still water bottles), safes, robes/slippers, provided pool towels, lots of toiletries, and pleasant layout and decor. The WiFi in the rooms and restaurant is great. Both pools are very nice. The staff is incredibly friendly and helpful. Room Service is available until 10:30pm and is prompt. The restaurant sits basically directly on the beach, which is absolutely lovely. I only saw one other resort in Krabi (the one next door, which was MUCH busier and less serene from my perspective) that afforded you the opportunity to eat basically right on the beach. No such thing exists on Railay East or Ao Nang , which would represent other hotel options in this price range.
The downsides of our stay: We had coordinated transport from the Krabi airport with the resort (at an agreed price of 1600 Baht for two people—no deposit) and they didn’t show up. We called but when it was clear they’d be a while, we decided to coordinate our own transport, for about 600 Baht. There were a few bumps along the way including that we were taken to the wrong side of Railay, but the porter met us on the opposite side and helped us with our luggage all the way to the resort which was extremely helpful. We were welcomed with cold fragrant towels and cool sweetened tea and the trials of the past hour and a half were forgotten. We booked the escorted travel by the resort back to the airport and it was worth EVERY penny. Very comfortable and quick.
The provided breakfast was only adequate, although the coffee was excellent and the view of the quiet, lovely beach (esp in the earlier hours) is simply unbeatable.
The beds are not comfortable at all, although the pillows and duvet make them sleep-able.
