How to Get There
This is one of the best resort for family holidays. It was a short trip & stay with Centara Grand but those 2 days were amazing & adventurous. Simply Incredible Place! I wish to travel again may be in coming years.
The property and location is exotic! The private beach, pontoon dock, sea facing villas on the cliff slope along neatly laid pathways, all of it! Great amenities in the property and within the rooms overall. House keeping is quick. Good variety in food, across the 4-5 restaurants, as vegetarians, we were very happy. Tried the Indian food options too and they were very tasty ! Do try the Liquid Nitrogen Ice cream! Staff is extremely helpful. The spa was luxurious, staff was very professional and sweet, but the actual massage in itself was just about okay. Spa products are great! Reasonably priced. The Monkey trail to Au Nang beach is an adventure in itself and very interesting! Not recommended for folks with mobility issues, or seniors, as parts of the climb are steep and it's not very well lit at night. It leads to the Au nang shopping markets and great restaurants with live music. Takes about 15 - 20 minutes max to get to the Au nang main road and market. Paddle boating and surfing at the private beach is at extra charge but is organized very well, good instructors. Pool is clean. The resort is sort of an island that connects to the mainland via a free boat shuttle service. We took the shuttle almost everyday to reach our sight seeing pick up spots. Traveled as a couple so it was all pretty exciting and fun! With kids, the location and the Shuttle system might be a bit cumbersome, if on a tight sight seeing schedule. If you have the time, then the location and the shuttle only adds to the thrill. Stayed for 5 nights in June 2016 and thoroughly enjoyed.
We stayed here on our honeymoon for 5 nights in a Premium Deluxe room and its probably the best room I have ever stayed in. Very clean, bed very comfy good shower. The view from our balcony was spectacular! As you will probably find out very quickly, this hotel is set on its own private beach away from the centre of Au Nang. The hotel put on a free shuttle boat which takes you to a pier around a 10 minute trip. However, this pier is a long way from Au Nang centre and you will have to get a taxi or tuk tuk to bars/restaurants when you get off. Because of this we decided to walk into the centre each time via the monkey trail. This trail is not an easy walk and would be impossible for people with mobility issues. Despite it being called the monkey trail we didn’t see one over the 5 days and must have walked this trail around 10 times. From the reception in the hotel it takes around 15 minutes to get to the first restaurants. The reason this hotel isn’t getting 5 stars is because the food and drink in this place is extortionate. We didn’t get breakfast with our deal and the hotel were asking for almost £15-£20 for their continental selection. Beers around the pool were also almost £4 for a bottle a Chang which is a lot more than most places. We walked into Au Nang for breakfast each morning which was a hassle or relied on 7 Eleven shops to pick up some fruit for the room. Hotel had kayak’s to use which I recommend to see the rocks up close. Pool area is very picturesque but wasn’t my favourite as there is sand everywhere you walk. Staff were very friendly! The gym is of a very good standard for a hotel and has lots of cardio and weight equipment. Don’t be put off by this hotel as it is luxury and a perfect honeymoon location but make sure you do your research before booking as there are a few flaws which you might not find elsewhere.
I traveled to this resort together with my wife. I was greeted at the airport by the driver and led to the car. After a 20 minutes ride or so, we arrived at the dock in Ao Nang, where we switched the car with a comfortable boat. This is the only way you can get to Centara. Because we booked a Centara Club Villa we benefit to a private check in inside of their air conditioned lounge. Refreshments and cold towels were provided. Here they presented to as some very advantages credit packages where we were allowed to buy credits up to the double of the paid value. We choose to buy a 1500€ credit for 1000€ cash (converted in THB). This was more then enough for 2 persons for 8 days, with daily massages and dinner with drinks. The villa was very beautiful and comfortable, with a big balcony. Because you are in a tropical area it’s possible to see inside the room lizards or cockroaches but if you feel uncomfortable you can speak at the front desk and they will handle the situation. We took advantage of using the Club Lounge for refreshments and drinks almost all day long. Free alcohol was served just 7pm to 9pm. I had dinner to al 3 restaurants onsite. The best was the Thai restaurant.
Breakfast was fantastic with a lot of choices. Plenty of vegan options. The view from the beach is fabulous. Ao Nang can be reached by foot in 15 minutes crossing the monkey trail. I think this a very good value resort and I gladly come again.
Wonderful place, everything about it is fantastic. The staff members are incredibly friendly and patient. The resort is a fascinating place and the beach is one of the best I have see . One thing they could work on is the prices of food and drinks in the resort
