How to Get There
We had a comfortable stay here for 4 nights. Each morning we were given new towels and fresh bottles of water. The food at the restaurant is definitely nothing special but the complimentary breakfast is pretty good with lots of options. The pool is very nice with really good views. Although it is a drive to the beach and downtown Aonang, they have shuttles going back and forth all day. Our only complaints are the mosquitoes and lack of air conditioning in the lobby and restaurant.
Phu Petra is a peaceful hotel with extremely accommodating staff. The grounds are very nice with pretty tropical plants and flowers, birds and butterflies. The room was very large with a gorgeous large bathroom. Of all the hotels in Thailand where I stayed, Phu Petra had the largest room and nicest bathroom with a big tub, shower, a neat vanity in the center--it was a very zen bathroom. The room had really nice wood details inside and on the porch and chairs. Such a great value for a really nice place. Also the minibar in the room had beers for 50-60 baht which is less expensive than almost any bar around. The breakfast offers omelets and waffles to order which was very nice because I did not have waffles at any other breakfast buffet in Thailand.
This hotel is wonderful. The staff here were the most helpful, kind and informative (practically an orientation) out of the 6 hotels we stayed in during our trip in Thailand. The hotel is relatively small, but beautiful and comfortable as well as VERY clean-this includes the dining area outside and the pool.
The hotel rooms are bungalow-styled which is great because it is easy access, close to all amenities, and more private. The room was very clean and very large- one king sized bed and one twin bed. Decorations were minimal but nice. The bathroom was also very nice with both shower and tub, though it lacked any counter space. Any complaints or problems were taken care of efficiently as well.
One thing to note is that insects are very prominent, and we had a problem (which we never bothered to mention to staff) with having some sort of ant or ant like insects getting into our room constantly and they would end up in our suitcases, on the counter, and in our food/snacks. This might be something the resort should look into trying to fix.
The only downside is that the resort is secluded from the main walking street (Ao Nang) so you would most likely need a tuk-tuk or cab to get to and fro...However, this means you're also away from all the noise and it's more peaceful. Luckily the hotel does provide a shuttle service which we used. It was convenient and we didn't really have problems sticking to the schedule-only complaint is that there should be more shuttle rides coming BACK to the resort (*remember to ask the hotel staff what a reasonable and expected price should be if you need to take a tuktuk or cab back!)
My only other disappointment was the lack of food choices, compared to other resorts, especially for vegetarians (and vegans) as my choices were quite limited. However, what they did have was always delicious.
Overall still a very pleasant stay and would highly recommend to anyone!
We visited Krabi with our extended family and stayed at the resort. It is a charming resort with double bed cottages spread around the swimming pool. Very comfortable, a sumptuous breakfast was included in the package. Food was good and service with a smile is their motto. Hourly pick up and drop service is available for going to town and towels are provided for going to the beach. The lady incharge of the front office is very courteous, helpful and efficient and seems to be on the job from morning till late evening. All in all a great experience.
- Rooms are the best we saw in Thailand.
- Staff is nice and helpful.
- Location was secluded and hotel offered transport to town.
- WiFi was slow and periodically disconnected during our stay (we were in H block).
- A few mosquitoes were in the dining area and the hotel charged 159 b for repellent.
- Spa workers are brought in on demand and quality of work will vary. My massage was good but my wife's manicure was uneven. Tools are not properly disinfected.
- Only 1-2 of staff can speak English at a given time during shift. It is better to speak to them in person rather than the phone.
