How to Get There
From the pick-up at the airport till the drop-off the staff was outstanding - they really make you feel special. The resort is located on a secluded beach with sunbeds that are located at a nice distance each from another so you get the privacy that you want. Staff was great at any place - breakfast, pool, beach and restaurants. The room gives you the tranquil feeling of living on an island - we have even saw a monkey and my girlfriend saw a giant lizard walking on the sidewalk (it was not offensive). However, my opinion is that the rooms are a bit dated but this was not a problem (they are kinda worn). The minuses in the room is that they provide you with only one card (and specify in the books that AC should not be left on when out BUT it's a 5 stars hotel and trust me, Thailand gets pretty hot in April - the room was quite hot when we got in so the level comfort was quite low). Also, the toiletries and other room amenities are not replaced but just refilled (like in the cheap hotels - we did not like that especially that we think that the slippers were reused). However, the beach bag which was provided for the stay was really helpful. Food in the beach restaurant is not that expensive (however, there are cheaper options nearby but this is a 5 stars hotel with other food safety norms) and quite delicious but the drinks are overpriced. The ice-cream at the pool bar is delicious (one of the best we had).
The beach of the hotel is great - not crowded and quiet - they provide you with water and occasionally fresh fruits. Also, the staff over there is quite attentive and brings you towels to the sunbed. They offer free non motorized water sports (paddleboard, kayak etc) which was a great plus as I tried this for the first time over there.
The resort is located on a hill and it has 2 pools. Both of them offer great views (the one closer to the beach is more crowded and some people were reserving sunbeds early in the morning which must be prohibited..) and the one at the top of the hill is simply majestic - great view, not crowded and diverse.
We did not take any excursions from the hotel as they were way more expensive than the ones provided by other companies over there (however, probably hotel offers safer experiences).
Breakfast was good but kinda constant for our stay so we eventually got kinda bored (probably it's harder to source as the hotel is located on a not so visited island). Staff and the view were the ones which shined over there. However, we would have liked to eat at the upper restaurant (at least once per stay but in the room there was a message that our rooms should stick to the restaurant on the lower level of the resort during that period of the year).
Overall, the hotel provided a great experience (the pick-up/drop-off at the airport are a great, extraordinary thing especially if you are lucky enough to be alone) but things like AC all the time in the room (providing a second card or setting the AC to work without the card) and replacement of room amenities should be standard for 5 stars hotel especially considering how hot is Thailand in April. Would definitely visit the hotel again if this things improve and would bring the whole family over there if they accommodate guests with disabilities (mother has some problems and the walking distances and the fact that it's situated on a hill may cause problems). We had one of our best times in this resort.
Far exceeded anything we had hoped for. We stayed in the 700 villa and the view was phenomenal! The staff was more than willing to cart you back to your room after breakfast to lounge in your infinity pool. Great service and amazing resort
The report is absolutely magnificent . It has the beach on one side and the mountain as forest on the other . Views are great. We stayed at the hillside villa with a private pool . It was oozing with luxury . Staff are extremely polite and efficient . Service is great . Food at the restaurants fantastic . The only criticism that I have is that you have to pay for yoga , Pilates , cooking and all the classes that they offer . I think it should be included as the resort is accordingly priced .
If you are looking for a luxurious hide-away, this is the place to be! It's hard to get to, but once you are at Pimalai, you would be glad that you have taken the time to get there as it's one of the best beach resorts with excellent service. We were there as a family during the peak season, over Christmas and New Year, but it never felt crowded as there's more than enough places for guests to spread out. Food at the resort is very good and reasonably priced given it's a five star resort. Pimalai is a sanctuary for weary city dwellers!
Koh Lanta is one of the wonderful I lands in very south of Thailand.
Pimalai is the best resort on this island or may I say this award winning resort is comparable to the best resorts in the world with scenic beauty ,lush green mountains , excellent accommodation ,great service and host of activities which can make it one of the top vacation destination for the family .
I stayed in Pimalai with my family and we were lucky that we get the booking of the Marvelous " Chairman Villa " which have 3 bedrooms & private beach.
Our stay at Pimalai was nothing short of spectacular.
The service was excellent.
The food in restaurants was fabulous.
It's a very big resorts with 2 big swimming pools.
The whole resort is situated on a slope of a lush green hill and as our Villa was on the beach we have to take ( complimentary ) jeep to go up to the dinning area.
View from the top of the hill were just out of the World.
The staff was extremely cortious.
Walking in the resort give the feeling of a walk in a well maintained jungle .
All in all its a Perfect Resort for holiday for couples and families.
Lots and lots of activities to do.
If you are into luxury resort I shall highly recommend Pimalai.
