What We Love

  • Every villa has a full kitchen, dining area and private lanai
  • Guests can use the Poipu Racquet Club for $10 (£6) per day
  • Yoga classes are available on the Greenbelt on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday mornings for $15 (£9) per class
  • The hotel is near several world-class beaches and a five-minute walk from one of Hawaii’s finest, Poipu Beach
  • Free beach gear can be picked up from the clubhouse: cool boxes, beach chairs, umbrellas and boogie boards

What To Know

  • Rates are quoted for six to eight people
  • There is no spa on property, though there are several nearby and at other hotels
  • There’s no restaurant on site – villa living means making your own meals or hitting one of the nearby restaurants
  • The overall vibe is quiet so this isn't the place for people looking for a late night bar scene

Overview

The Review

An Eden that celebrates the raw beauty of nature, Kauai feels like a funhouse of outdoor activities for anyone possessing even the tiniest sense of adventure. Between the gaping chasm of Waimea Canyon (the Grand Canyon of the Pacific) and the towering sea cliffs of the Na Pali Coast, Kauai delivers a feeling of Old Hawaii, from the laidback, friendly attitude of its people to its pristine, uncrowded beaches.

You get the independence of a villa (including a full gourmet kitchen with granite countertops and SubZero refrigerator and a washer-dryer and free WiFi) while still being able to cherry-pick from the resort’s menu of extras, including access to the Poipu Kai tennis club and swimming at the centrally located pool, which has its own whirlpool and waterfall.

One of the best aspects to shacking up here is the location. Although not immediately on the beach, the villas are a five-minute walk from the talcum powder-white expanse of famed Poipu Beach, where you can just kick back and sun-soak or go for a more action-packed day of learning to ride waves with Kauai surf schools. And being on the sunny south side of the island, you’re only a towel’s toss from five more world-class stretches of sand: Brennecke Beach, Shipwreck Beach, Baby Beach, Lawai Beach and Mahaulepu Beach.

Simply put, Kauai is the Hawaiian island for nature seekers. If lush greenery and gorgeous natural beauty are on your holiday checklist (rather than, say, a beachfront Hurricane-swilling party scene), then Kauai is a wise choice. And with multi-bedroom units and private kitchens, the Villas at Poipu Kai are well suited to those looking to explore it with family or friends.

Fabulous Place to stay at Poipu Beach!
AASIMO

Our family of four stayed in Unit F211 for 4 nights while vacationing on Kauai. This is a 2nd floor unit overlooking the pool. We loved this condo! It had everything one would need on vacation. It was so nice to have so much space, and the added bonus in all of these units is the outdoor space, whether it be a balcony or patio. It's an additional living area, and so lovely to be outside but protected from sun (and occasional rain shower).
The pool area is quite lovely, and the quick walk to fabulous Poipu Beach can't be easier! I didn't know before our arrival, but there is a fabulous tennis center on the grounds of the resort (steps from the Villas) with very reasonable pricing for courts. If you play, bring your racquet!
We are finishing a 10 night trip traveling around 3 of the Hawaiian islands. We have stayed at all different types of lodging from the big resorts to boutique Inns, and condos. The Villas at Poipu Kai is definitely a favorite!! You will not be disappointed.

I stayed here for 8 days with my family of 5. Luxurious and Lots of room ....everything was 1st class in our 3 BR villa. Full kitchen, washing machine, AC...a great patio along the entire front with 2 walkouts. Short walk or drive to beaches and restaurants. It’s expensive but everything in in Hawaii is expensive unfortunately.

Kauai Vacation at the great Villas at Poipu Kai

We stay at the villas at Poipu Kai at the beginning of November 2018 in Villa E210 there were 4 of us. It was nice having our own rooms and bathrooms. It was a nice condo and I liked how a few things were provided such as cooking wear, laundry detergent, Beach towels and bag. It made for a nice relaxing stay. I liked the condo it saved us money from eating out all the time. I mostly cooked at the condo except for 2 times. The only negative was a little dust, dishwasher was dirty so I didn't use, dirty placemats which I washed, the patio table could have been cleaner. The poolside villa was nice and so was the gym. I loved the location of these condos which were close to 3 nearby beaches and also easy access to go to the other parts of the island. Overall, we loved staying here and would definitely return. Great parking too which is a plus.
