On the northern coast of Koh Samui, the Scent Hotel is a boutique retreat on the shores of Bangrak Beach. It’s isolated enough to feel peaceful but is within easy reach of the island’s thumping nightclubs. The overall design theme is 1940s and ’50s colonial Southeast Asia, and the 14 rooms are individually decorated in French, Chinese, or Thai styles. Scent is a defining feature; the hotel is the brainchild of a Bangkok brand known for its aromatic products and guests can customize the fragrance in their rooms. Aromatherapy is a key influence in the spa, while the Le Jaroen Restaurant is as much about the visual (star-filled skies overhead) and aural (the sound of lapping waves) experience as it is about the French-Siamese fusion cuisine.
In the Area
The island of Koh Samui, or Samui as locals and regular visitors call it, has a history that spans more than 325 years. It was discovered by backpackers several decades ago, but since the 1990s it’s become a present-day sophisticated enclave of excellent spas, dining and nightlife. The Big Buddha Temple is its most famous landmark, and the 39-foot-high golden deity is visited by devout locals as well as tourists. The hotel can also arrange private long-tail boat tours to the Five Islands to see caves, beaches and bamboo houses perched on high limestone cliffs, on islands that were until recently completely inaccessible to foreigners.
How to Get There
I booked The Scent precisely because it is a small boutique hotel and it was heavenly.
Before I write a about my experience I want to thank them for accommodating the many changes I made to my dates, they went over and above!
The hotel itself is beautiful and spotless and the food is superb, actually their restaurant serves better food than other 5 star establishments we went to.
The staff are so graceful and welcoming.
Definitely stay here if you want something different than the big resort holiday.
I would like to Highly Recommend The Scent Hotel to, anybody looking for an Venue to get Married. The Hotel is located on Bangrak Beach, Koh Samui, Ideal for the Nuptials and Wedding Dinner. The service was simply Outstanding, Khun Sugar and her team ( Khun Queen, Bella and Benz ) were totally Professional in every aspect, my wife and I could not be Happier with our decision to have Khun Sugar organise the entire event, there was absolutely nothing that, we could find fault with. The rooms were extremely well presented, ours being located above the Restaurant, which offered Breathtaking Views of The Gulf of Thailand, Koh Phanghan and Koh Som. The Food is still being talked about by our guests, the selection of both Asian & European foods could not have been better, the quality and taste was superb. The Fireworks that Khun Sugar organised were indeed World Class, we will always remember our Special Day and, the efforts by All Staff members to make it so Special. I would urge anybody looking for an Special Wedding on Koh Samui to, utilise the professional services of The Scent Hotel. Kim & Hong Dixon
We found the hotel by chance ( we got scammed by another hotel ). The rooms are big and tastefully decorated , loved the bathroom ( minor negative detail : very poor indoor lightning probably due to the « romantic « touch the hotel aimes at ) . The breakfast is always a treat and the staff is very friendly . Lovely pool and beach, clean and not crowded .
The staff is very attentive to your needs and requests ( thank you Queen for all the help with dinner and spa bookings ) .
Altogether, it is a lovely hotel if you want to run from the big noisy commercial ones . Don’t be fooled by the entrance ( front door needs some serious work ) , inside there’s a little gem ????.
