Fly by night rip off hotel- do not go!
Reviewed 1 week ago

My friend, who speaks little English, accidentally booked this room, for 3 nights, the night before, and tried to cancel it the next day. Even though we sent them and Agoda an emailThe hotel refused to let her cancel it even though her stay was five days out. When I called them again, they spoke little English, were rude, and said send another email to them, then hung up on me!
Not your idea of a resort hotel.

Well connected but remote

I spent at the Mantra 2 nights in total, looking for a place to stay last minute, for a reasonable price. Bus shuttles leave four times a day so the connection to Chaweng and Fisherman’s village works quite well, although the timing could be improved to allow for a more reasonable return timing. One bus was already fully booked so an early booking is recommended.

The rooms are generally nice, clean and spacious (i had a wow room). Some things to improve: an empty fridge is just not very helpful, but two bottles of complimentary water were in the room; there is no body lotion, other charcoal products are however in general quite nice; there is zero information about anything in the room so I felt a little underinformed. No welcome letter or anything like that as well - which seems common nowadays.

The biggest problem was the connecting door to the room next to me, my nabours decided to talk at 2am, while I could hear every single word I (thanks god) didn’t understand the language.

Breakfast was ok-ish, although only standard tea/ coffee available. Would expect to be able to order a cappuccino without additional charge. Variety of food was ok - although no cheese/ sausage plate which I think is common nowadays. For our asian friends there are a number of hot dishes available. Was at dinner in that one restaurant as well - service, food, napkins etc were much better than in the morning.

Great gym and pool area with a stunning view - just keep in mind that especially the pool gets crowded.

Haven’t been to the co-working space but it looks actually really nice from the outside.

In one word: fantastic!!!

We were much impressed with all aspects of the hotel!

From reception, beautiful lay-out, great upgrade to room 522 with just breathtaking views, the great saltwater pool and do not forget: incredible breakfast!

We rented a jeep to drive around the island for two days, and having seen many resorts and hotels around the island, we would select to come back to Mantra. Without hesitation!

Thank you very much Mantra samui!

Chill out

Away from the beach and up the hillside with a spectacular view towards the hills, waterfront and town. Peaceful and relaxing getaway. Spacious rooms with big balcony and such a friendly team. Transportation provided to town.

Nice View and Comfortable, could be better though!

I chose to stay at Mantra after doing a lot of research as to where to stay in a place that has a good view, facilities, and convenient for the activities I wanted to pursue. It is located in Bophut/Maenam, about 15 minutes or so from Chaweng the busiest area in Koh Samui and has most tourist. I chose the Love Ocean View Room, it was really uniquely designed, and had a wide balcony with lounge chairs, the only con is that you can’t see anything if you’re laying down — well it is mostly a couples room and does give you a sense of privacy. The bed and pillows were alright, but not wow! The rooms didn’t have Bluetooth speakers (which I think is a basic amenity in a five star hotel), and the breakfast was limited in my opinion and the options weren’t vast, again not five-star material. It is located up in a hill which is not far off from the main road, around 3 minutes by car. It does have a reply nice ambience, also they have a nice infinity pool and the view is spectacular, they do have free shuttle buses to Bophut beach/walking street (10 mins away) and Chaweng (20 mins) as well that is free of charge with limited seats. Overall it was a very nice and relaxing experience, as a solo traveler, it did the job — basically a place to get some rest between activities, good view and facilities! The staff readily accepted my feedback and taken into consideration my requests when they could. Overall, I’d give it 4.5/5.
