How to Get There
I was uneasy after seeing that there was a problem at check-in during a recent review. But I could not feel that. The check-in time arrived at the lobby and the staff first approached and asked if they would check in. After checking whether the luggage was left to the hotel, I brought my luggage to the check - in counter. The size of the hotel room was not large, but the prospect of Osaka city-view was excellent. The clean state also showed a clean and quick. It was good to try to do something actively even at breakfast. Finally, I checked again what I needed to check out and kept my kindness to the end.
This hotel whilst being well equipped, and certainly a good hotel, it doesn't cater for families of 5. Our 8 year old ended up sleeping on the couch and on the last night the floor. They need to realise that we had a booking for 5 and they like so many Japanese hotels do not get the fact that Western children, over a certain age, do not sleep in their parents bed.
Stayed here on our last night in Japan before travelling elsewhere. They were accommodating with a late check-out. Check-in is pretty stringent, but they will hold bags in the lobby. Plenty to do right outside the door. Or the hotel cafe area if you're beat.
- Perfect location for those who need to catch a train to the airport in the morning (it is on top of the train station!)
- Perfect night of rest (you can request various types of pillows to try) before a 9.5 hour flight the next afternoon.
- Excellent view of the city, took some good video of Osaka at sunset from up there.
Great location and I expected a lot from a Swissotel but from the moment you arrive you feel like you are in a military camp - so many ridiculous rules!
In the first hour of arriving I was ordered to stand in line near reception, saw another guest told to ‘sit down’ and another lady who dared move from the queue at reception to the desk was told “I’m not ready for you yet, I’m still busy. But you can stay there”. Then there’s the ridiculous rule about no child under 6 being able to go to the pool, and then the restricted time a child over 6 can use the pool and then the rule about no using the pool if you have a tattoo and then “wear a swim cap or you can’t swim!” Exhausting for a holidaymaker. Help!!!
The rooms aren’t flash (we had to move rooms 3 times as the smell of tobacco was so overbearing) and then the stained carpets and walls were really unimpressive.
The saving grace from my 24-hours in so far is the breakfast - million dollar views, great food and warm, friendly and professional staff - front of house reception team should take note! Perhaps they can train the reception team on customer service in the hospitality industry.
So much opportunity but they’ve missed the mark severely in a number of areas. Very disappointed overall.
We arrived early and were given priority checkin and access to our room at 11.30.
The room was lovely and there was a box of macaroons waiting for us.
We were given free access to all the amazing gym and pool facilities and a requested late check out of 1.30.
Breakfast on the 36th floor was a feast to behold.
Staff were wonderful. A perfect last night in Japan.
