How to Get There
We were extremely happy with this hotel, our first stop in Japan.
The location is perfect, all the transportation for every destination is in this station. Also a lot of restaurants and shops. It is close to the Dotonbory area, about 10 minutes walk.
Very good breakfast with a lot of choices, at the top floor of the building , with a great view over the city.
We recently stayed at Swissotel Nankai for 8 nights. It wasn’t all bad, at least I received pretty good service. But apparently there’s double standard... first, the background story: I have light colored skin, while my husband is dark. The staff were friendly and helpful to me, but during our stay, there were times when we were separated. My husband had become ill with very high fever. The hotel had no medical facility whatsoever, nor any doctor/ clinic to recommend. In the morning, I had taken the kids to breakfast at the top floor while my husband stayed to rest. Turned out, he had gone down alone to look for medical help. He asked various hotel staffs from the concierge, the front desk, to the manager. They all turned him down in the most condescending, racist way as if he couldn’t afford/ wasn’t worthy enough for a medical attention. You can see the details in his review below. The manager even bluntly sniggered at him and ask: “can you really pay 30,000 yen for the doctor?”. Darling, our family doctor in Indonesia costs more than that... My shoes cost more than that! We paid decent amount of money to stay there and expected a refined 5 star hotel. What we found was that it’s a simple, tired-looking hotel with MULTIPLE racist staffs! And my husband had to be humiliated while he was running a nearly 40 Celsius fever! No compassion, no respect, no manner, no finesse. Anyways, no excuse for racism!
In the end, my husband had gone to the doctor with the help of his own network, and he was indeed very ill and required hospitalization.
So please, do not judge a patron based on his/ her skin color. Our credentials may surprise you. You could get sued for discrimination, and even gross negligence if my husband had become fatal due to your refusal of medical assistance. Just shame on you, Swissotel!
As I mentioned, I came back to this hotel again after these few years. Still convenient no doubt as the hotel and train station won’t move. Room is big and bit dated, no obvious change noted after these years. Kid becomes older and they offered an extra bed. Unfortunately a sofa bed, quite uncomfortable. The original bed is nice and with diff types of pillow to choose. See who is the lucky one to use the sofa bed.
Its my second day in swissotel nankai. Location is perfect. I stayed in 32rd floor and the view is spectacular. Room is not big but its neat and tidy. I asked for a rollaway bed for my kid and found the bed is quite old and worn. The wood spike which are quite sharp could hurt my kids. I do not expect a room costing over us500 a night in executive floor would hv such issue. Quite disappointed.
Very warm and nice welcome from the hotel staff especially for Accor hotel member
The room is not small and very clean
Very nice view from 36th floor when enjoyed my welcome drink which is beyond my expectation
