How to Get There
We travel the world and have to say this was one of our favorite hotels ever. LOVED it. The room was beautiful, the service incredible and we loved being over the train station so we could grab food, or a drink or shop. It was fun getting to see the tracks out of our windows too. Highly recommend this hotel. If we come back to Kyoto we will stay here again.
Super helpful and friendly staff. Magnificent room looking out to Kyoto Tower with chairs and a table. Located above Kyoto Station. Good location but we found the area around Nishiki Market more interesting (either 2 stations via subway or a 29 minute walk away). Convenient 7/11 to the ground floor of the station. Fantastic buffet breakfast. We would stay there again.
I booked the room on granvia floor. The building is during renovation and was extremely noisy！They have no compensation with that.It was a very disappointing experience.
About the breakfast,we chose to have buffet on the 2 floor. There are 5 of us but they gave us the seat of 4 people and was quite crowdy.
The Granvia sits right on top of Kyoto Station, making it the best situated property in the entire city. Not only that, but it's a solid upper-tier hotel with very good service and a wonderful breakfast buffet.
We chose a Semi-Suite King room (like we always do), since the regular rooms are a big tight for extended stays. The Semi-Suite room is 50 square meters and features a separate sitting area, and is (usually) reasonably priced. As with most rooms in the hotel, the furnishings are solid but not luxury, and the rooms are a bit on the dark side.
For a centrally situated hotel of its size, service is remarkably polished, and they manage to keep wait times (for things like check-in and breakfast) to a minimum. Speaking of breakfast, the Granvia's buffet is superior to many higher priced luxury hotels in the country - the Japanese options are much more expansive and varied than most, and are of very high quality.
Unlike many hotels in prime locations, they don't let the convenience do all of the talking. All of the other aspects of Hotel Granvia Kyoto are also noteworthy.
We had double room, it was very spacious, overlooking Kyoto Tower. Bathroom was 3 in 1 but tub was big enough, had great water pressure to fill in a tub.
Best thing about this hotel. From Shinkansen exit walk towards Chuo exit facing Kyoto Tower there’s designated entrance within station. There’s another entrance towards Kyoto Tower by north elevator.
Very spacious considering the location. Furnishings are old fashioned but everything works.
I’ve been to many great breakfast buffet but this is among the best. I was at Four Seasons Marunouchi breakfast buffet few days ago for over 5,000yen per person but this breakfast has great variety of western & Japanese food and great selection of drinks. Must try.
There are many new business hotels in the area. Daiwa Roynet Kyoto Ekimae is also great hotel and it’s our favorite. In additions we’ll definitely be back.
