How to Get There
This hotel has a great location with direct access to the railway station. We spent our last night here after taking the train from Tokyo so getting to the hotel without any extra hassle was great. Taking the subway around Kyoto is also convenient. The hotel looks modern to the outside but the rooms are actually quite old, although decently sized. There was a curious sound that we heard on and off in our room that was a bit bothersome. The hot water tap in the sink was leaking. The hotel was largely occupied by elderly people and even had a nursing home type of smell to it.
This hotel offers many dining options, some with a nice view of Kyoto. We only tried the sky lounge for breakfast.
Our daughter got ill during our trip and the concierge set us an appointment at a local pediatrics clinic and was super helpful. Pros: location and knowledgeable staff, cons: dated rooms, busy cruise ship -type ambience.
A great hotel in a modern downtown of Kyoto-shi. Excellent amenities, comfortable and spacious rooms, good restaurants. The railway station is a technological marvel by itself. There are two shopping malls in the basement. There's also a dozen of restaurants serving ramen noodles - delicious!
A 4* hotel that takes advantage of its location on top of Kyoto Station to charge 5* prices. The hotel caters to cruise ship and bus tour companies which can make check in/out a bit problematic if you get there at the wrong time. Our 7th floor room overlooking the railway tracks was clean, quiet, comfortable and well-equipped. However, we made the mistake of paying for breakfast which was cafeteria style with plastic trays and cold, rather indifferent food. The room was very crowded with tour group people and this definitely was a disappointment compared to other breakfast buffets that we experienced in Japan. Suggest avoiding the dinner restaurants also unless you want to spend several hundred dollars each. The location can't be beat for convenience but there are lots of other hotels adjacent to the station and these may be worth exploring,
I can’t believe this hotel really invest in good beddings, a clothes presser and a shower with massager jets as well as a stool in case one feels tired and rather sit down under a shower. They even provide a light refreshing perfume spray for one’s clothings or beddings and the toilet amenity kits for male & female. They have a potable air purifier in the room and that helps a lot since I have allergy to dust. Kudos to their house keeping staff for really vacuuming the room and the toilet seat has a sensor to flip up when one is approaching. All these are available on their Granvia Floor Rooms at Level 15. I do not mind paying more as well since the view also faces the Kyoto Tower and their welcome TV message when I turn on is to review the location of your room & nearest fire escape and also by looking at the window balcony, it indicates that it also acts as an alternative route as well. The number of restaurants in this hotel is just as great. I paid about Yen 2,500 for a typical Japanese breakfast & we truly enjoyed it!!!
This building complex with its adjoining mall was built 20 years ago; However, you would never know it unless like me you had asked. The hotel is across from the main train station in Kyoto and the restaurant on the 15 th floor has a view of the station. While enjoying breakfast we were able to watch the bullet trains entering & exiting.
The bathroom has the typical Toto plumbing found throughout Japan. This was unique with a photo sensor that activates when you are adjacent to the commode. You must experience the features.
The mall is not to be missed. There is an outdoor stage with a huge amphitheatre seating arrangement that has multicolored lights to achieve different effects. Shopping & restaurants that go beyond the normal.
A must experience and one to revisit.
