How to Get There
We arrived to a strange, dead atmosphere around the whole resort but we put it down to the grey, overcast weather. We were hungry so we decided to head straight to Sandals restaurant for lunch. We were a bit shocked by the prices on the menu as they were far higher than the other areas of Vietnam we had already visited but we thought it must be worth it.
We found our lunch to be the most disappointing and average meal we had on the holiday. Also, in general it was frustrating trying to communicate with the staff in the restaurant at lunch and breakfast as a lot of their english was very poor so they would have to go and find someone else who could understand.
We were due to stay at Mia for 4 nights but we decided to leave after 3 as we just felt it had no character and to be honest, we were a bit bored.
After breakfast on our third morning we decided we would go up and let them know that we would be checking out a night early and to ask them if they could organise a taxi to the airport the following morning. As we were walking up the steep steps, my boyfriend put his hand onto the handrail for balance and as he did so, he knocked this glass lantern (pictured) completely off. He only touched it so it was already unsteady/not fixed in place properly. Luckily, it only hit my hand which was bruised for a few days before it smashed to the ground. There were small children right beside us as this happened who could have been seriously injured so everyone, including the children's parents got a bit of a fright. As we were heading to reception anyway we informed them of what happened before letting them know we were checking out early. There wasn't much of a reaction they just offered me a plaster as there was a small piercing on my finger that was bleeding from the lantern.
The following morning we went to check out and there was no mention of this incident, no question as to why we were leaving early and no question of 'did we enjoy our stay' or 'we hope you enjoyed your stay' which is just a standard that we would expect leaving any hotel. We simply paid our bill and that was it.
Out of the 5 hotels we stayed at during our travels through Vietnam we were disappointed with our experience at Mia, we felt it was really lacking in service, food, value and ambience and all of our other (less expensive) hotels really surpassed it in these areas.
Originally we were booked in a Ocean View Condo, and were so disappointed in the room quality as in comparison to other 4-5 star resorts this room would be rated as 3. We upgraded to a Garden Villa which was close to the pool, beach and restaurant. It was lovely just what we originally expected. We had our own garden area to relax in with couches and hammock. The room was a decent size with very comfortable bed. Bathroom was also a good size. It was more close to 4 Star. We are both into fitness so the gym quality is always something we look for in a resort. Equipment was outdated by usable and views from the gym were lovely. We got a lot of workouts by using the stairs to get to reception- they are huge. The resort is situated on the cliff side and is spread out that some visitors need to use a buggy to get around. The resort is 18km out from the main City area and a shuttle bus service is available. We recommend that shuttle pick ups in the city be around 3hrs rather than the current 5 hrs. Service at the resort was exceptional and the staff were all so caring and loving. We loved our night time stories and bed time treats that were left on our bed every night. The movies available to watch were all new and a huge variety to watch. We suggest more vegetarians meal options on the menus and maybe buffets nights to encourage guests to stay at the resort for meals. We stayed at two resorts while in Nha Trang and this was more suited for couples, as there wasn’t a huge variety of options for teenagers or young children.
Mia Resort nestles into the cliffs and beaches of over 2 km of coastal frontage. All rooms take advantage of the view, are spacious and tastefully appointed, and are surrounded by impeccably kept gardens and lawns. Just dial 0 for a chauffeured golf buggy and the friendly staff will ferry you to any of the three restaurants (food is excellent), the spa, beach or swimming pools. Enjoy the gentle, relaxed pace. Shuttle buses can take you to nearby Nha Trang for a contrasting experience. Enjoy snorkelling on the coral reef right at Mia, or go on the day trip to nearby islands. Chris and Gi will take care of you!!
We had such a relaxing week at Mia Resort. From the General Manager to the huge team of gardeners; the hospitality staff to the buggy drivers, the team at Mia took pride in making everyone’s stay as good as it could be.
We have just left this resort after a wonderful week.
We stayed in a 2 bedroom suite overlooking the beach and it was stunning. There was plenty of room, 2 large bedrooms, 2 large bathrooms with outside showers along with a spacious living area which included a a dinning room table. We had a TV in each room along with our own pool area with an outside sitting area. The pool area at our suite and view from it were amazing, so much so, we never used the resort pools.
There is a choice of 2 restaurants on site. We used both for breakfast and dinner and both were excellent. Breakfast was included in our package and we paid for dinner. The menus offered a wide variety of food and importantly there was also a wide variety of prices also. You didn’t have to spend a fortune to have a lovely meal.
We visited Nha Trang one night using the resorts shuttle bus service and it worked well. We only went once as Nha Trang is very busy and compared with the tranquil surroundings of the Mia we were not tempted to venture in again.
The resort is immaculately maintained, everywhere you look you get the urge to take a photograph and I have already said the room was fantastic but the staff were amazing. They seemed genuine in wanting to meet your every requirement, ensuring you had a memorable stay and we did.
I believe the real attraction of this resort is how you are looked after by everyone from the gardener to the management. Everybody wears a smile, that alongside the beautiful gardens make this resort one of my favourites.
Thanks again to everyone in the Mia, thanks for a wonderful relaxing week after a week of busy time sightseeing in Vietnam.
My husband and my almost 2year old son stayed in the Hotel for 3 weeks. We just wanted to have a Relaxing vacation and lots of beach and pool time. We came with high expectations and all of them were completely satisfied.
We stayed in the Garden View Condos (106), which was the perfect Location for us, short distances to the Buffet Restaurant (Sandals), the Beach and one of the pools. Our son also enjoyed the Kids Club from time to time, which has very good and competent staff.
So the Sandals Restaurant was very good, it´s a typical buffet-style Restaurant with theme nights 2 times a week. The staff was Always very helpful and patient with us.
After some time we started having breakfast at "La Baia" the Italian Restaurant and we were blown away by the Quality of food and service and athmosphere.
