My stay At Kumarakom Lake Resort was at the tail end of my first trip to India. And what a way to end my trip! The property itself was breathtakingly beautiful and peaceful. The vistas endless, the service impeccable, and the food was the best I’d had on my whole trip. They had delicious traditional Kerala dishes and there were plenty of options which accommodated my western palette . I really enjoyed the room- I had a pool villa- so clean and comfortable that I fell asleep like a baby every night. I also enjoyed a massage at the Ayurvedic center- the staff were excellent and the treatment was top notch. I plan to visit again as soon as I can, and return home telling my fiancé that I have found our honeymoon destination!
We hosted our leadership conference and booked the resort for an entire week. The venue was breathtaking and served as an amazing cultural experience for our foreign delegates.
The staff was very polite and helpful and even accommodated all our customised requests.
Lavish breakfast, lunch and dinner buffet is all inclusive and very delicious. They have a lot of options other than South Indian as well for those not in the mood to experiment.
All in all a great place if your looking for business and pleasure at the same time. Things I would definitely recommend are:
- Sunset cruise
- Kathakali perfomance
- Exclusive Sandhya dinner
- Full body massage at their Ayurveda center
Thank you KLR for a wonderful experience and I will definitely back there soon.
We visited KLR after 10 years
Last time we were here was in Dec of 2008. And boy are happy we did this again!!!
Kudos to the management and staff for still maintaining the high standards which makes this place great. From impeccable service to outstanding quality, the resort epotimizes what hospitality should be.
Special mention for some of the the amazing staff members
Kavi- the activities coordinator. He is amazing with kids and keeps them engrossed in activities. Not just that, he is probably the best photographer I have seen. Such amazing composition and technique. I strongly recommend trying his skills at some of the pool or boat pics. Just mesmerizing
Ginika- she had recently started along with two other colleagues. All three were just amazing at front desk and the restaurant.
A few things you must try
- cold coconut water, or as my daughter calls them cowat. I have never had so sweet coconut water ever. We had been talking about it since 2008 Everytime we had one. And it is exact same this time again. Infact, if you get a chance, try the cold ones. They dip entire coconut in ice and it's cool as you sip out of the shell
Houseboat- we did a day on houseboat both times. It is an amazing experience having your own kitchen, dining and bedroom all floating on the lake/ back waters. They start around 12 take you to a docking point around 7pm or so. You stay there till 8 in the morning and then return to the resort in time for breakfast. Staff is great and they are always there should you need anything. You even get to set a menu before you leave
Sunset cruise- it's an hour each day 530-630 and it's on the house. Fun with breeze and water splashing and rocking your boat a bit. And there are a few musicians who would play flute or tabla or similar
They do have a few other activities like pottery, fishing, basket weaving etc. You can arrange for local trips if you want as well
Evening you can gather in the common area overlooking the lake for hot coffee or tea and some tasty savoury items like rice pancake or chana vada and all
All in all, it was all we had hoped for and better. We look forward to coming back in another 10 years. The coconut price increased from 75 to 80 in the last 10 but everything else was just the same:) hope it remains as amazing as today when we come back next
My stay here was a short and sweet one. Liked the hospitality and the ambiance. Food is good but costly be prepared to pay as you do not have much options outside. The menu is limited especially for vegetarians but was offered with whatever more on request...
you will love a stay over here...
