Nautical Chic
Reviewed 4 days ago

The Yachtsman is an unexpected gem located right off the central fishing village in Kennebunkport. The rooms are absolutely lovely - nautical chic with high end features while being clean and fresh. I can’t say enough about the amazing shower! Each room has a private outdoor space overlooking Kennebunk River. There is a communal area for happy hour (highly recommend the Bloody Mary!!) and a light breakfast. What a great hotel - we definitely plan to visit again soon!!

The Yatchsman Hotel —best place to sta in Kennebunkport
Reviewed 7 days ago

We recently spent five days at this hotel and had a most remarkable vacation. (We tried to stay longer but they were fully booked!)
The rooms are beautifully decorated and comfortable. The best part of the hotel was the back “porch”/ deck outside of each room which overlooked the river and marina. We never caught sight of other customers despite the Hotel being full. One could sit outside, reading and sipping wine, and enjoy the quiet and beauty of the port. You also got to see the various tour boats coming out of the harbor and hear their stories on the loudspeaker!
The staff were responsive and helpful but not around unnecessarily.
We made a “friends” reservation on line and got a great rate.
I look forward to being there same time next year!

Disappointing given what they charge
Reviewed 2 weeks ago

Spent three nights at the Yachtsman. The hotel is basically a motel with very comfortable rooms and nice views over the adjacent marina. We were however expecting a lot more given the high cost of the room (the highest of any during our three week New England trip!) and the nightly resort fee of $35.

The information provided on the secret escapes website which we booked through was also very misleading. This indicated that coffee and croissants would be delivered to your room each morning, that there would be a welcome reception, daily evening receptions with drinks and snacks, and nightly sundown bonfire sessions with beverages.

The service was also not particularly welcoming. If going back to Kennebunkport I would look to stay at the many more reasonably priced hotels in the area.

An Annual Must!

We have stayed at The Yachtsman for 6 seasons and have loved every minute! We were excited to check out the new renovations. So many bright new interiors in the rooms and outside. Love It! Hurlbutt Design has always been amazing .
I am giving 4 stars because when renovating the room, they sacrificed some closet space and drawer space. The dressers are gorgeous, but have shallow drawers that don’t hold much. The closet has a safe on the floor that you can pick up and carry out of the room which is kind of funny.
We also got spoiled with cheese and crackers during happy hour and free port/brandy before renovations. The new bar is awesome with $5 wine/beer during happy hour, but no snacks. With the increased rates, you ‘d expect the small niceties to be a given. I’m certain with new staff/management, The Yachtsman will continue to be the hidden gem it’s always been!
See you next year......

Beautiful rooms with a great view of the Kennebunk River

We stayed at the Yachtsman for two nights in July. The rooms were recently renovated and they were beautiful. Our slider opened onto our private patio with chairs overlooking the Kennebunk River and the marina. We enjoyed the complimentary bikes and also kayaks. The property is a short walking distance from the center of town in one direction and a small beach in the other. We would highly recommend the Yachtsman, especially for a couples getaway!
