How to Get There
Stayed two nights on business. Enjoyed every minute. Good hospitality .... great location & great restaurant. The pub serves a full offering of spirits and wines, while the dining room is traditional New England fare with a couple of bonuses.
While Kennebunkport was a great town, I was dissatisfied with the Inn. While we were there, the Inn had a special event and the restaurant was closed for dinner. Prior to arriving, I asked if there would be Vegetarian options but received no response. When I checked in, I found out the restaurant could not accommodate vegetarian needs. In addition, at breakfast, I asked if a vegetarian egg option could be provided. The answer was no and I was left with no protein options. For the price, setting and typical hospitality of Inns, I would have expected this basic need to be accommodated.
We went on a great snowshoeing hike (recommended by Inn staff), when we came back, though, we were frustrated to see that our room wasn't serviced. We had leftover plates from dinner in our room and this made our room smell like the food wee ate. We definitely expected the room to be serviced.
Finally, when I signed up for the Igloo Package, there was an initial glitch on the website. I even called the Inn to verify the price I was seeing (after the glitch). The confirmation email was confusing and missing a line that listed the package price. As a result, I saw the $119/night price that was listed on the confirmation and didn't think twice. I didn't realize the total was listed as almost double (because the package wasn't listed). Had I known the true cost of the package, I would have opted out. While we enjoyed our stay at the Inn, the value is unexpected for what we received. When I gave this feedback at the end of my stay, I didn't receive any follow up acknowledging this misunderstanding.
I truly enjoyed staying here. The Inn feels like an Inn, it has those bones that you really appreciate. That, plus the updated and more modern decor just feels like the perfect balance. It's perfectly located in the center of everything, you can walk anywhere. Also, since it was the offseason, they have one of the few restaurants open on site AND the outdoor Igloo lounge is a unique and fun find.
The hotel is very well decorated and is in a perfect location. We were able to walk to most everywhere we wanted to go in Kennebunkport. They have parking available and a staff member in the parking lot to assist you, as it is a tight lot. The staff was all wonderful, so helpful and friendly. We really enjoyed our dinner at the restaurant, where both the food and the service. We had excellent cocktails with our meal, so I would highly recommend stopping by the bar. The room we were in had a queen and a twin. It came with a refrigerator.
All of that said, overall, we were very underwhelmed. The photos of the hotel made it look like all of the rooms were fresh and well decorated. The room we were put in was very dated. It was in desperate need of some upgrades. The design and decor were just very old. The mattress and pillows were just bad. Also very old and not super comfortable. Given how cheap it is to buy a decent mattress nowadays I was very surprised by this.
Our room was on the first floor and the hotel did not warn us that a garbage truck would come to empty the bins around 6 am both mornings we were there. We could also hear anytime someone took trash out. It was extremely annoying and loud.
Considering how expensive the hotel was we we ultimately disappointed with our stay because of the quality of our room.
Loved the Inn and most especially enjoyed the live carolers singing during this typical old New England weekend!
Also, having a continental breakfast included in the overnight was the perfect way to start the day!
