How to Get There
Make sure your unit or villa gets a thorough inspection; locks, faucets, towels; linens; spray for bugs. A guest should not be the one to find something wrong with the unit. The staff did a great job of correcting some of the issues, but there should be an initial inspection prior to the arrival of guests.
This was our first time staying at the Westin in Kauai. We have a 13 and 11 year daughter who love arts and crafts. The kids club staff did a great job, especially Susan and Carrie. We did several activities while on our two week vacation and our kids enjoyed them all. Mimosas and painting with Mytra was marvelous!
The buffet breakfast seems to pose a serious health risk to all guests. There are a large number of birds flying into the outdoor dining enclosure, landing on tables and plates. The birds perch on the clean buffet plates, before unwitting guests take a new plate. ( never take the top plate !). This unhygienic situation is unbelievable in such a resort.
Also, the buffet breakfast selection was very poor. Just 3 choices of fresh fruit, uninspiring bacon and scrambled eggs. There were omelettes made to order which weren’t bad.
Otherwise we enjoyed our stay.
Room5222 was excellent, faced the ocean, and being an end room, had lots of side windows. The room had a full size fridge, coffee maker , sink, microwave, paper towels, plates, cutlery and BBQ equipment. It had a washing machine and dryer too.
Nanea Restaurant we felt was very average for the price. We found it better to buy supermarket steak, then cook it on the excellent public BBQ’S in the gardens.
The swimming pools were ok, but the hot spas pretty hopeless as they often weren’t working.
The gym was good but seemingly too small for the number of guests.
$15 per day for self parking.
The free shuttle to St Regis was great, and it runs hourly to 8pm (but was too early to have dinner there)
Most Westin staff were excellent, particularly China, who checked us in.
We found this to be an “average” property, with a couple of good points.
My husband and I stayed here with our teenage. We had a one bedroom villa with a full kitchen. There is a grocery store less than a mile away which made it perfect for stocking the kitchen with food. There are numerous grills on the ground to make hamburgers, steaks or hot dogs or anything else you like. We get sick of eating out 3 times A-day on vacation so this was perfect. The property was spotless and lush. It had beautiful views and a private beach. The North Shore has the coolest weather on the island. It's about an hour and a 1/2 drive to the Waimea Canyon. It's about 45 minutes from Lihue airport. There is a gym and they also offer yoga and aqua classes for an additional fee. It was also nice having a washer and dryer in the room. Breakfast was included in our package and it was delicious. The kitchen was very helpful in dealing with our son's food allergies.
Arrived June 3 2018, gorgeous facility .
Checking and check out process easy and fast.
Villa condition spotless. Well equipped and clean.
Soothing and relaxing environment.
Not beach front however small hike ( little adventure) to go to Willi's beach .
This is not you typical beach resort is a golf oriented , albeit I am not a golfer.
Great location to go around north Coast, 35-40 Min from Lihue.
Family enjoyed relaxation it.
Definitively will stay again , I like the natural beauty of it and not being another beach hotel.
