If luxury beach life and high-end pampering are what you’re after, then Miraggio Thermal Spa Resort, opened in May 2016, really seals the deal. A gleaming addition to the gorgeous Kassandra Peninsula, this property’s mission has been to step out ahead of its competitors, and with sugary white sand, crystal-clear Aegean waters and a private marina deep enough for the swankiest of yachts, it seems to be doing a pretty good job.
Not to be outdone by the natural beauty of its Greek-island locale, the resort boasts interiors and facilities that are as glamorous as they come. Each of the elegant rooms and suites features stylish décor, with soft hues and luxe furnishings. You’ll have your choice of sophisticated dining and laid-back fare at the stylish bars and restaurants, and the otherworldly spa, spread across three floors, provides nearly every treatment imaginable. So whether you pull up in your yacht or simply fly in, you’ll be sure to get the VIP treatment here.
Designed with a sleek and modern aesthetic, each of the new rooms and suites features a soothing neutral color palette, contemporary furnishings and all sorts of luxurious touches. Junior suites boast 400 square feet, a separate seating area and views of the Aegean Sea and the nearby island of Kelyfos from the balcony.
Open for buffet-style breakfasts, lunches and dinners, the signature Kritamo Restaurant presents an inspiring selection of international cuisine and traditional Greek dishes. There’s also the dinner-only Italian restaurant, Portofino, for gourmet à la carte cuisine (reservation required). Toroneo offers an authentic Greek experience, with seafood and local flavors, while Oasis Pool Restaurant provides a more casual atmosphere. The selection of bars here is just as impressive. Oasis Beach Bar and Oasis Pool Bar let you enjoy your drinks outside, while the Mirage Bar in the lobby provides a more classic setting. There’s also Churchill Lounge, with a great cigar collection, and Sommelier’s 8-Wine Bar for Greek and international wines. Myrthia Health Bar, in the spa, offers fresh and organic smoothies and juices, complete with a wonderfully Zen atmosphere.
A three-floor shrine to all things watery and wonderful, the huge spa has a large seawater thalassotherapy pool and four separate thermal pools. There’s also a thermal suite equipped with steam baths, a Finnish sauna, an herbal sauna, a cold-plunge walking path and two experience showers, plus a floating sauna in the marina for those who prefer jumping directly into the sea to cool down. Equally impressive are the seven treatment rooms for Rasul mud treatments, aroma and salt saunas, flotation beds, Vichy showers, chromotherapy and water-jet treatments. A state-of-the-art gym, beauty salon and aerobics hall wrap things up nicely.
Spanning 330 acres of private land on Greece’s Kassandra Peninsula, the hotel overlooks white-sand beaches and the turquoise-tinted waters of the Aegean Sea. Must-dos include hitting the Blue Flag-awarded beach and evening markets in the little village of Hanioti, venturing to the caves of Petralona and partying at Kalithea’s late-night clubs and bars. For a cultural fix, it’s worth checking out Thessaloniki and its White Tower, the Museum of Byzantine Culture and the Arch of Galerius and the Rotunda.
How to Get There
A sprawling hotel with beautiful views in an isolated location.
Rooms were modern, bright and welcoming and ours was first line, over looking the pool and the beach!
Some rooms were set quite away from the main facilities so with mobility problems you could be in trouble, however for us ours was perfect.
Beds were comfortable, tea and coffee in the room and the bathroom was above expectations.
The only problem was the tv repeatedly switched itself off after 10 minutes, wouldn’t switch back on, the bathroom had a horrendously unpleasant smell of drains and because it was October the hotel had turned the A/C off in the hotel resulting in it being waaaay too hot at night!!!
We did ask them to remedy it, however were told that it didn’t matter that it was hotter than expected for the time of year, they’d turned it off in preparation for the close of season in 2.5weeks time!!!!!!
As far as I’m concerned that is unacceptable. If you market a hotel with A/C available in the rooms then you honour that right until the end of season when the hotel closes. We weren’t the only guests to complain.
The pool area etc is beautiful and day times were a joy. However evenings were a wash out.
The food was probably some of the poorest I’ve ever experienced in a hotel with the buffet choices poor and the food completely over cooked, badly flavoured and sloppy! We even started eating at opening time in the hopes it might help...... it didn’t!!!
Admittedly it was the end of season as I said but the hotel was soleless in the evenings, empty bars and terraces and staff had without doubt already checked out for the summer because the service was awful!
Drinks were expensive and badly mixed!
I’d definitely not recommend the hotel and only give it as many as a 3 rating due to the complex itself, the beautiful views and the daytimes!
By the way, If the weather was bad....... you’d be completely stuck because there is nothing to do and nothing for miles away!
This was by far the best experience my wife and I have ever had staying at a hotel anywhere in the world and we have stayed at quite some 5-star hotels. We were skeptical at the time of booking whether the hotel would meet our expectations for a 5-star experience but in reality it blew us away. We only stayed for 3 nights but we had such a great holiday that we felt like we had been living there for an year. It really felt like home and everyone of the staff was treating us as their friend. Usually you can always feel staff's kindness is somewhat fake, but here we could really feel they meant it. Maybe this is the so famous Greek hospitality. We booked directly through the hotel's website and were very lucky to get a better price and a free upgrade of our room on arrival which was an outstanding compliment we will never forget. We already recommended the hotel to our friends and we are already planning to return this year bringing our parents as well. There's a saying that one always wants more, but for once, we had all that we needed and couldn't ask for more. Miraggio will always have a special place in our hearts.
We stayed at the Miraggio on our babymoon. The Miraggio hotel is a very beautiful hotel, build on a slope with a tiny private beach and marina but it is let down in many ways.
Firstly we were made to believe that we could eat a la carte everyday as part of our full board package. Not the case. You only get to eat a la carte once per stay. We went to both and they were extremely average. If you;re on full board you can only dine at the pool bar at lunchtime. There is one starter, main and desert available.
The majority of the food was buffet food that was mediocre and not what you expect in a 5*. There are a very limited number of tables on the terrace, the staff are inexperienced, it takes ages to get a drink and we came back to our table a few times to find someone else sitting there.
During our stay three large groups (over 300 persons and more) came alternately for a 2-day stay in the hotel. They came from Israel and were on an organised holiday with an Israeli phone company. The group of 18-30's that came behaved disgustingly and not what you expect to find at a 5 star hotel. They didn’t respect the rules (non-smoking, adult/quiet pool, bottles of vodka on the sun loungers. At one point whilst sitting at the adult pool on a lounger one of the people in the group squirted me with a water pistol.
We complained to the hotel whilst we were there and we were given a free meal in the marina restaurant. I would have rather had the 5* experience I was expecting not discos, water pistols, pool parties and hooligans.
I have been here before, but i did not experienced as it is,
1. Breathtaking spa, and unique view.
2. Very expencive furniture and materials of building
3. Perfect pools
4. Terible beach, full of rocks
5. Restaurants perfect.
6. Meals teasty, tipicaly for Greeks.
7. Personel so-so. Receptionist which was first shiftft on arival date , was amazing, and also the Lady on the check out day.
8. Advice : choose a rooms with a pool, view is amazing.
9. I was here twice and i get Hard natinalistic reception welcome. Every guest get a form to fill his country by him self- Macedonians like me, get already fiiled formylar with for me insult name. You can give back my review 1000 times more , but my impression is the same, YOU ARE NOT POLITICIAN, i am you guest, not vice versa. Please dont insult me. Its very simple. Have a nice day , and be nice as you hotel is.
Our third stay at this beautiful hotel. Every inch of the resort is maintained and cleaned to the highest standard. Facilities are excellent. Food is fantastic quality with an abundant choice. The staff are truly wonderful, very friendly and attentive and great with children. The staff and facilities in the children’s club are great. We would highly recommend.
