Spread across seven fir tree–studded acres, 8,825 feet above sea level, the Khyber Resort & Spa is a five-star retreat with majestic views of the Himalayas’ Affarwat peaks. Styled like a classic mountain lodge and kitted out with local pine and slate, the interiors bring the outdoors in. The 80 guestrooms are equipped for all seasons, with crackling fireplaces for cozy winter nights and floor-to-ceiling windows to take in the summer views of the lush Pir Panjal Valley. Kashmiri woven silk carpets, carved walnut paneled ceilings and embroidered throws decorate the rooms, and most bathrooms come with huge windows overlooking the grounds. Tuck into Kashmiri cuisine at Cloves or wood-fired BBQ dishes at Nouf, or indulge in a traditional afternoon tea at Chaikash, an elegant patisserie with a terrace complete with firepits. Depending on the season, you can hit the powdery pistes via the world’s highest ski lift (the Gulmarg Gondola) or trek the stunning mountain trails and follow up with a session at the L’Occitane spa, which offers Himalayan views from every treatment room.
In the Area
There’s a dedicated Activity Concierge at the resort to direct you to the area’s best ski runs. The Gulmarg Gondola (the world’s highest ski lift) is on the doorstep to whisk you up the Kongdoori Mountain. At 13,780 feet, it’s the highest ski point in the Himalayas. Guided treks are available for walkers of all levels, from easy routes through the Khilmanmarg Valley to exhilarating journeys up snowcapped mountains to the serene Alpather Lake. Fair weather activities include hang-gliding, parasailing and jeep safaris. Or tee off on the highest golf course in the world, a 10-minute drive from the property.
How to Get There
hotel is not as picturesque as advertised, front office staff is polite but not warm or welcoming, intially the rooms we were given had horrible view of fence surrounding the property.it was heart breaking to spend so much and land up like this.requested junior staff to change our room, but were told that hotel is fully booked.then after 2 hours we tried again n thanks n few senior guys changed our room ,thankfully.overall the hotel is just hyped ,its definitely not a five star by any standard and not worth the price they are charging
I am here to write my experience about our stay at the Khyber with my parents and wife.We stay at Khyber for 2 nights and visited all best places of Gulmarg

Thanks for your excellent hospitality will visit again.
Amidst a small town this place has everything available to ur serve. I had lot of expectations from Khyber and most of them were up to the mark after I made sure to the management that I am being under treated. It’s a huge resort still the service here is worth appreciating. Breakfast spread had number of options to satiate and taste was nice too. They had beautiful view heated swimming pool which was like a major attraction amongst kids. Their kids play area needs to be renovated and should be added more play games as those which were installed were in a damaged condition. One major discomfort I experienced through out my stay was no air conditions in the rooms. They had this option of window but with small kids it was very risky. I am claustrophobic and for people like me it is impossible to stay without a fan or an AC. I would highly recommend them to sort this for future references. I received a due support from Khyber staff during my husbands deteriorated health. Overall it was a pleasant stay apart from the room discomfort I had due to no AC. I recommend this hotel if you are in Gulmarg.
Was here in Apr 2019
The team is very helpful and pleasing.
Hotel rooms clean, large and spacious. Everything was neat and tidy.
Breakfast spread was huge and simply delicious.
You can try the mountain view rooms; their balconies offer a nice white mountain view.
This hotel is VERY expensive. The first room allocated for me was crappy - it was at the ground floor and the floor length window was 3/4 filled with snow. Absolutely no view. I request for a change, and luckily, there was an availability. The food there is great. The travel from airport to hotel was smooth. There is an operator in the airport which would facilitate your travel upwards. It snowed a lot in Gulmarg and the road back to the airport was difficult. Our flights were cancelled when we were 20min away from the airport. Take note that international travellers have no access to internet and phone line in Kashmir. War zone. So, you need to rely on your driver and hotel for connectivity.
India is already chaotic as it is, and it is not equipped to handle any additional emergencies and stress.
