How to Get There
We went there for our 11th anniversary for 2 nights 3 days with our 2 kids. It was a great disappointment. Our car was parked in some shady area where bird poo was all over our car. The day we had to checkout no water in the washroom we had to checkout without taking shower. We had the worst experience ever on our anniversary.
Great housekeeping, courteous staff and prompt response to services. The staff especially Gulshan has been very good. The breakfast has also been decent.Good location if you are visiting for business purposes.
I had to be in Bangalore for 1 week last month and after a lot of searching and contemplating I finally decided to choose this hotel for my stay. I had visited one of the restaurants in this place previously so was aware of the property. Now, the hotel is/was considered to be the one of the best if not one of the most expensive hotels in Bangalore. It's a pure luxury to be a part of Taj Hotels around the world I've visited and I expected the same from Taj West End Bangalore as well. Unfortunately, the experience was sub-standard much much below my expectations. I would say that after staying there for 2 days, I knew I'm not going to be coming here again.
The staff at the reception is good. I checked in pretty late around 11PM and was greeted with a smile throughout. The room they allotted was good however only the next day I realised that it was one of the farthest from the reception/lobby area. They have buggy service which is available on your call which is very convenient.
I called in for room service the same night. Ordered a Chicken Caesar salad and was surprised to see the quantity they serve with respect to the cost they charge. Not at all impressive. Night went well, they have comfortable beds and pillows and the room is clean and of good size.
First morning I went into the bathroom, to my surprise I realised that there are no basic health faucets in the bathroom. This was a shock! An Indian Hotel doesn't have the basic hygiene faucets in the bathroom. The problem went on when I realised that there is no hot water, but only warm which also took 5 minutes to flow. I complained to the house keeping and asked them to get it checked. Throughout the day I was out, after my return I checked with the housekeeping they said it has been corrected. Next morning, again the same thing. Only warm water and no hot water. Again I complained, same evening I check with a person who was walking there from the house keeping department. I showed him the problem, he said I'll have to wait for 10 minutes for the hot water to flow from the taps. REALLY??!!! Wow! Taj West End...wow!
Tried this technique the next day, wasted a lot of water for 10 minutes and then hot water started flowing. What a trick! But really? At the cost of wasting so much water? I don't think so. I complained to the house keeping again for the 3rd time. I knew by this time that nothing is going to happen and this is how it is here. I asked for a room change but there were no rooms available as I was told the IPL cricket team has occupied almost all the rooms and other rooms are preboked. So, I had to be in the same room. The housekeeping is probably aware of this problem and so is the hotel but they are still functioning with rooms like these. Special thanks to Emalaya and another gentleman from the housekeeping team who helped me inspite of all these problems I faced.
After the 3rd night, I experienced some mosquitoes in the room as well. Asked for the repellent and it was sent in time. Was a relief.
In Room dining food as I mentioned above lacks quantity but is tasty. The breakfast on the other hand was a disappointing spread. The staff present there is good and helpful however the options to eat for a non-vegetarian are very limited. Even for vegetarians I didn't see a big spread. Cheaper Hotels that this serve a big spread of breakfast.
In the end, the stay was not comfortable and not at all worthy of the money I spent there and it was communicated to the staff at the reception while checking out. I asked them to email me the invoice bill which they still haven't after reminding them again by calling them personally last week as well.
In no way I'm going to visit this Taj Property again. I've had much much better experiences at other Taj Hotels throughout other places but this one is surely going to be off my list.
We had a very good time at Taj West End right from arrival to check in to heritage tour to food to swimming pool, room service to final check out. Staff is gentle and supportive. The property is full of so much greenary and fresh air. Very healthy environment!
One Word. Fantabulous. Superb ambience, delicacies wow, spread wide, warm and smiling faces not because of the industry they are in but from their heart, efficient management, mellifluous music in the lobby. Rooms are class n spick and span. A property worth to be visited and cherished.
