The Lowdown

Between Kunshan and Suzhou, around an hour from Shanghai, this lakeside hotel is a favorite with Shanghainese looking for a relaxing weekend escape. The guestrooms make the most of the rural setting beside Yancheng Lake Park, with floor-to-ceiling windows framing views of the park to the north and the lake to the south. The rooms start at a spacious 484 square feet and have one King or two Double beds, plus 42-inch flat-screen TVs, marble bathrooms with walk-in showers, and modern decor in a choice of light (yellow and gold) or dark (brown and green) color schemes. The popular Signature Lake View Rooms also have private balconies overlooking the lake. Downstairs, the signature Yi Feng Court restaurant dishes up Cantonese fare prepared with ingredients from the hotel’s 200-acre organic farm, as well as from Yangcheng Lake, which is home to the region’s famous hairy crab. There’s also the Essence restaurant for Western dishes, and afternoon tea served in the Luwei Lobby Lounge. For sybarites there’s the Willow Stream Spa and the indoor and outdoor pools, while parents can make the most of the hotel’s kids club (for ages three to 12), which keeps youngsters entertained making scarecrows, painting, birdwatching and harvesting honey from the farm’s 25 hives.

In the Area

A popular escape from Shanghai, the Fairmont Yangcheng Lake lets visitors make the most of the great outdoors. Ask the concierge to organize a fishing, biking or hiking excursion within Yangcheng Lake Park, or perfect your croquet swing on the hotel’s manicured lawn. Golf lovers have easy access to the 18-hole Grand Shanghai International & Holiday Resort, or you can head farther afield to the 1,000-year-old town of Zhou Zhuang or the Museum of Kun Opera.

well, CNY celebrations, stayed there for 2 nights, wtih my little dog. was upgraded to panaroma suite, which was surprised. i stayed there several times, never got upgrade. so this time is special!!!
Olivia Gu from receiptionist were very helpful and polite, Amy Chen from Restaurant was fabulous.
most importantly, it has pet room, where i can bring my dog with me, not in the hotel room, but that's enough.
there are larg lawns, and parks, where both you and the pet can enjoy the nice view of the lake, the fresh air.
will difinitely come back!

This is not my first time staying at a Fairmont hotel, but the service and welcome certainly rank top among all the Fairmont I've visited. Though they are all good service, there are more "temperature" in the processs of serving guests.
After checking in, I've rated the experience up to getting into the room "good" and immediately received concern phone call from duty manager Wang. He wanted to see what are the things he could do to ensure my stay a more satisfying one. This is speically heart-warming for me. As a frequent traveler, this visit to Fairmont Yangcheng Lake is my 83rd nights in hotel this year. I'll rate it on top of all the nights I've stayed among all the hotels. This is definitely the hotel to be revisited.
