Lacking Customer Service

The property is cute with good sized rooms and suites and a great location just off the beach. We stayed for a wedding this past weekend, including the wedding party and a number of the wedding guests. The service is abhorrent. I asked for the room to be cleaned so that the groom's wedding party could get ready in the room prior to the wedding. I gave them about an hour and a half notice as well. It was never cleaned until after the wedding party left the hotel at 2 pm that afternoon. I brought it to their attention and they couldn't have cared less. The front desk agent literally sits at the desk all day without smiling, without emotion, and without a care in the world for the needs of their guests. Half the time she wasn't even there if guests had questions or were trying to check in. There's a sign that says if they aren't there, they are likely walking guests to their rooms to show them where they are, which is a total farce since they just hand you your keys and let you fend for yourself to find the rooms in a somewhat ramshackle layout. There are far better inns and guesthouses in Spring Lake than the Hewitt Wellington, which is unfortunately the most expensive.

Very Disappointed

Stayed 1 night in a Deluxe Lake View with Private Balcony Room. Checked in at 3pm (attempted to check-in early but, no one answered the phone when we called to ask permission).
At our 3pm check-in we were given 2 beach passes and told we must return them at check-out. Since Check-out time is 11am, the beach passes were useless for our 1 night stay. If I wanted to purchase a daily beach pass, I would have made it a day trip and saved the expense of a hotel.
To make the trip an even bigger waste of money, at 9:30 am the following morning, a noisy lawn service crew arrived making it impossible to sit and enjoy the costly private balcony. The front desk employee said the lawn service time is not determined by the hotel. Since check-out is 11am and check-in is 3pm, why not hire the lawn crew during that time when housekeeping is also working.
Will not be returning to this hotel that made a beach visit impossible and a quiet morning coffee just a dream!
