How to Get There
The hotel is old school and needs an update. Outdoor Pool was dirty and couldn't use it, indoor pool was closed for maintenance.
There bugs all over the golf course and it's really annoying to walk outside.
We wanted to swim at Stockton Sewview’s wonderful indoor and outdoor pools (especially), and go to the beach and be near Atlantic City for its great restaurants and to see a Third Eye Blind concert. The price was great. Our little girl and puppy dog loved it and we did too. Extremely reasonable considering all that you get and the quality of the setting.
I feel bad writing this review, because we wanted to enjoy this hotel. We had stayed here about 10 years ago and found it to be pleasant overall, if dated. We knew that the hotel was planning renovations and that the rooms hadn't been touched, and were honestly okay with that going in. What we did not expect was that the staff seemed to have given up, too, in the meantime. Our check in experience could only be described as sterile, unfriendly and unwelcoming, and the disappointment only grew when we saw our room, which, while elegantly appointed, was dirty and overlooked. We found hair clips and pins under the dresser, dust on the windowsills, empty shampoo bottles in the shower, hairs under the toilet, brown water in the sink, you name it. Just because the hotel is old doesn't mean that the cleaning staff can just give up. If the room had been impeccably maintained, we would have had nothing to complain about, and we were ready for the old fashioned decor.
Requesting a rollaway bed took three phone calls, and when we asked for an extra blanket, one of the two men who brought the rollaway informed us that that was all they had. His peer went off to get us another blanket, which of course they had. Laziness and lying? Later that evening, we called an engineer to help us in the room, and he asked us "Why can't you do it yourself"? Excuse me?
I'm not sure how this hotel is still in business, because the staff needs some serious renovating. Even when you walk down the hall, no one looks up and everyone seems dour and unhappy. We did encounter kind, pleasant service from the golf store and from our housekeeper (although her cleaning was cursory- she barely made the bed and left the rollaway as it was, and again our amenities were not replaced in the room).
We went to see the Marriott down the road, and while the physical property doesn't compare to the historic grandeur, the people there seem so much happier and friendlier! Makes a huge difference.
I wish I could say that the hotel will be much better once renovations are done, but with staff like this, it just won't help.
I needed a quick getaway and this was the perfect spot. Great location. Elegant resort and a comfortable place to stay.
I opted to valet park which was a great choice. A phone call from my room and my car was waiting at the door when I got there.
this was the first time we stay at this hotel. I don't think I will do it again. The hotel is very large and looks good from the outside but inside, it's quite old. The very first thing I noticed and didn't like was the smell.....there is a very unpleasant smell in the hallways and even in the room, like really old musty smell. I also don't like the beds, too high and uncomfortable. The rooms were not as clean as they should be, we found some chocolate stains on the furniture. I HATED the parking, have to walk 2 miles to get my car. What I did like were the very fast free wifi, the nice gentlemen opening the doors, and the overall friendly staff at the front desk.
