The Grandkemang’s exterior makes a terrific first impression; the sleek modernist cubic architecture is reminiscent of Le Corbusier. Set far back from the busy street, the location gives the hotel a sense of repose. There’s not a whiff of heritage here; design throughout the hotel is cool and contemporary, enhanced by occasional fine artworks. The lobby and lounge areas are furnished in primary colors, with recessed lighting that creates a relaxed ambience.
Bed and Bath
Standard guestrooms are efficiently laid out and finished in a contemporary style, with wall coverings and throw carpets in primary colors and bold geometric designs, and paintings tasteful and interesting enough to find a place at one of Kemang’s better art galleries. The inner wall facing the bed has a console equipped with a 32-inch flat-screen TV and a fine work space with a desk phone. Bedding is soft and plump. The bathroom is small, functional and paved in marble.
Breakfast is served at Sperta, the all-day restaurant that overlooks the pool and garden. Two lounges offer a full range of cocktails, including a menu of 60 martinis, excellent for informal business meetings. The best option for unwinding over drinks and snacks is the Stanford Arms, a cozy British-style pub with a polished mahogany bar, stained glass windows and sports memorabilia.
How to Get There
Grandkemang is a well-known hotel situated in the South of Jakarta. It’s perfectly located in a nice area of the city, surrounded by many dining and shopping options.
The service staff are superb; check in was a breeze, and they gave me a late check out, too.
My Grand Deluxe Room was pretty spacious with comfortable bed, plush sofa, strong shower, and (importantly) many electrical outlets to charge my phone and gadgets!
I like the big swimming pool and the well-equipped gym. Why? Because I needed it to burn all the tasty calories from the breakfast AND Sunday brunch!
The food is amazing, with plenty of options for everyone, from Indonesian to Asian to International favorites. Kudos to the F&B people there!
And it can be a great outing for kids, too! Your little ones can have tons of fun at the pool, and also at the entertaining kids’ activity station by the café.
All in all, I had a good, rejuvenating weekend escape from my daily routine. I shall return (Especially for the splendid Sunday Brunch)!
My first stay in South Jakarta was good with Gandkemang Hotel. I enjoyed my stay and services at the hotel with good breakfast and great pool. Staff are professional and remember the name of my colleague even he did not go back after 3 years or so.
Stayed here w times in a period of 4 weeks. The first period was great and worth five stars. The second stay was a bit less due to some issues. Lot of noise in the evrning ftom next door bar. Music playing untill 2 am. Also AC not working correct. Staff did a lot to fix but not completely fixed
Overall a very nice hotel. With very frirendly staff good breakfast and nice swimming pool. Good Restaurants nearby and a shopping mall at walking distance.
I would recommend staying here.
