How to Get There
The Westin resort and spa has everything you need for an awesome vacation! We give it five stars! But it is the staff that truly makes it a memorable vacation. The breakfast buffet has wonderful traditional Mexican dishes. Or you can feast on standard breakfast dishes including fresh fruit, omelettes, charcuterie, seasonal food and vegetables. What made the hotel restaurant the best was the server, Juan. He greets you with s great big smile. Always attentive, anticipating what you might need next.
We had a wonderful week here with our two small children over wiinter break. Every staff member we encountered was extremely kind, friendly and helpful. The pool area was definitely the highlight and where we spent the bulk of our time, although the beachfront was a great hit as well. We loved that there was a large, more shallow pool for our little ones--large enough to really keep our kids occupied for hours basically on their own. Manuel, who facilitates the pool activities was a fast favorite of our entire family. He has the best way about him, great energy, and makes every activity fun and inclusive. Between water aerobics, water volleyball, bingo, snow cones...he really made every day great. Our only quibble wtih the hotel is that the food at the restaurants and poolside wasn't that great. Sometimes even awful. Poolside was better than the restaurants, and we certainly found things we could eat, but not much that was super tasty. Luckily, the Marina, with its varied and plentiful restaurants is just a quick walk away. We will definitely plan on returning to this hotel.
The hotel is beautiful. Yes, it the furniture is maybe a little dated but I think it would appear a bit dated after only a year or so in a resort area. Being platinum, we were upgrades to an ocean front room with a nice balcony. Plenty of lounge chairs and bed at the pool and beach. It is walkable to a nice marina that has many different bars and restaurants. The Club lounge was very busy and it was a bit confusing as you were supposed to sign in or out but there wasn't any signage about this. They were so busy being it was high season but kept all neat and tidy.
Most of the other reviewers have got it all bang on. This resort is not centrally located to the downtown area but there are many amenities close by that make it an ideal home base for your Mexican vacation.
Staff are very friendly and everyone had a smile on their face and happy to help.
The only thing worth really mentioning (apart from the lumpy pillows) was the noise level if you had an adjoining room. It wasn't super bad but think hearing the toilet flushing in the next room, other guests sneezing, etc. That's what you'll hear so big tip is to make sure you don't have an adjoining room door.
Otherwise a great stay and excellent food.
This is the second time I have been to this property. It is so great for many reasons: close proximity to the Marina and further away from the activity of the downtown (so if you want lots of people and activity, maybe not the place for you); rooms which allow for both sunrise and sunset views vs all west facing; reasonably priced food options, and THE STAFF. When we have come, we have spent the bulk of our travel budget just getting here so don't do a lot of activities off site, which is why the wonderful and friendly energy of Manuel, the activities director, is so special. He can not see me for two days and then ask about my daughter or my mom, by NAME! He is full of good vibes and makes everything fun. I love when he runs the volleyball games and is so encouraging to those of us not so skilled at volleyball :) . He is truly one of the priceless parts of coming to this resort.
