How to Get There
We had a pleasant stay with a few downsides.
-We immediately noticed and felt that the bed was damp. It was very uncomfortable and just felt very weird. The staff was nice enough to switch out the sheets, blanket and pillows when I asked. There was really no way around to stopping the condensation build-up, hell our clothes in the luggage got damp as well. Still, it's unacceptable either way as I've been to other high humidity locations and the bedding wasn't damp.
-The room was kept clean, but had that weird smell (wood?). We called it the Westin smell. It lingered with our unworn clothes, but nothing unbearable.
-The staff and service were 5*. Very nice and respectful.
As an SPG elite, my wife and I enjoyed our days doing nothing, but eat and drink in/by the pool. We would recommend that the hotel be upgraded/renovated, but still keep that mayan feel to it.
After some trepidation, decided to book a deluxe room with an ocean view for a birthday.
Beautiful, well-maintained hotel as noted by others. Unlike what some posters' comments, the rooms were not showing their age, but we stayed at the main building.
The friendly service by the staff.
Comfortable bed, with a full kitchen equipped with some pans, flatware and utensils, refrigerator, and a 4-burner cook top, with a separate living room and bathroom suite, and 2 decks.
The WiFi for guestrooms is really slow--the webpage to sign up for WiFi did not load up. The free WiFi for public spaces is reasonably fast, so we opted to use it at the business center.
There is no A/C in the public areas (other than the business center and the main restaurant El Palmar.
The extensive pool areas with built-in partially submerged lounging areas.
The gym was large, and worth using.
The close proximity to necessary services. There is a mini-market at the foot of the hill, drug stores, and restaurants.
Would definitely re-visit.
Because of back trouble I was restricted mostly to staying at the resort but my memories of the wonderful staff will stay with me forever. There weren't very many customers September and October are tough on the employees because there aren't people to reward them with the tips they need to live on. But the people in the hotel could not have been nicer. If I can get my back trouble solved with surgery I hope to be back again when I can really explore that City that I love so much Puerto Vallarta
It doesn't look as fancy from the outside, but the inside is gorgeous, and the pools were great. I'm sure it's all probably par for the course at any resort in Mexico, but I was there on business, and loved all the luxuries/amenities. It even had a starbucks in the lobby!
The room was beautiful, and kept some spanish architecture with the arched window from the bedroom into the bathroom, and I loved sitting out on the balcony overlooking the pool, and the ocean! Would definitely stay here again. I also thought I had left my prescription prada sunglasses here, and they were very helpful in trying to help me locate them.
Turns out they had fallen into my suitcase (which I didn't know until I got home and unpacked) bummer!
This hotel is stunning! I wake up each morning to overlook beautiful ocean, sandy beach, and swaying palm trees. From the moment that I arrived, the entire staff welcomes each guest like family. The Westin lounge is relaxing and has amazing views and food. Arreceifas and Casada Bar both have delicious entrees and desserts. This hotel is also conveniently located near the airport. Highly recommended for all types of travelers, whether you're solo, couples, or a family.
