Great weather (No Rain), Awesome food, Fantastic service, Great view. Planning next year's return visit

My wife and I just had a great week at the resort! There is construction at the resort, but there was little noise and all the facilities were open. Javier (Resort Manager) is very helpful and attentive to your needs. He noticed that my wife was having knee pain and I had back pain. He called an old friend of his who came to our room and loosened us up so we were much more mobile in getting around.

Jose was especially helpful! He brought us towels to on our chairs that made them more comfortable to sit on each day. Once he figured out that we usually ordered the same thing each day for breakfast he would have it automatically come as soon as we sat down for breakfast. He also helped bring food from the deli to us and arranged special drinks.

Aaron at the bar created lots of special drinks with many types of mimosa's for breakfast each day.

Sergio and his staff at Luciano's restaurant was great. If it is not too busy ask for a Spanish or Mexican coffee show. You will really enjoy it.

Sofia at the front desk was great and was even able to extend our checkout a couple of hours.
Alex our bultler also was very helpful with all our needs.

If you are at the pool bar Randy can make a great drink and put on a show.

We really liked the new deli that is open 24/7 and the new pizzeria.

Looking forward to going back the same time next year!

Awesome relaxing trip with impeccable service...Pool ambiance, food and comfort need improvement

Booked this hotel since we stayed at their sister hotel Plaza Pelicanos Grand Beach Resort Hotel in Oct 2016 for my Dad's 85th birthday. We had a fabulous time with impeccable service, fun, comfort, ambiance and great rooms for all 35 guests in our party! Similarly, at Sunset Plaza, only 2 of us this time had a great time at the hotel and around Puerto Vallarta!

Our room was on the 15th floor, which had a spectacular view. The bed was nice but the pillows were not comfortable at all. We were assigned a butler, but he only gave us our room and didn't do any more than that, which was fine as we didn't expect a butler. But, since they introduced him as our butler, we expected he would have been offering his services to us, which he didn't and we hardly saw him during our stay. Our suggestion to the hotel is to ensure the butler, if it's going to be offered as such, to be attentive to the guests needs or don't offer it as butler service.

The service at the Mirador restaurant, pool side, beach side and at the lounge were superb!!! Jose de Jesus, was one of the best waiters we've ever had serve us!! Mario and Victor along with the other waitstaff at the Mirador restaurant and pool side bar were also awesome!!!!! Best service ever!!! The drinks were awesome, the swim up bar was refreshing, nice and they had and served top shelf of almost all types of spirits. In addition to the great service at the bars and restaurants, after some nudging, Alejandro accommodated us with an extended check out time, which we truly appreciated.

Unfortunately, the ambiance at the pool and inside the lounge bar were lack luster. There was no music at all outside and inside you could hardly hear it. Several other guests brought their portable bluetooth small speakers to listen to music while sitting pool side. They advertised games daily but we saw nothing of the sort, neither at the pool nor the beach. Understandably, this hotel prides itself in being a quieter hotel and not having a party atmosphere like others; but, some nice relaxing music would've been a nice welcome addition and something many guests we spoke to would have enjoyed!

The chairs and design of the inside lounge bar were very uncomfortable and looked like airport waiting chairs only very erect and hard to sit on. The bartender indicated they recently remodeled. Sadly, they went wrong on the remodel. Our suggestion is to put some comfortable sitting chairs and couches for a place to relax, unwind from a day of shopping or from tours or adventures, read and enjoy some good conversation. The service and drinks at the bar, however, were outstanding!! Both bartenders and Adalberto that served us there were great!!

The food unfortunately was just okay. I would've expected a lot better Mexican food than I get here in the States, but not the case. We found much better Mexican food at restaurants outside the hotel. One night, they did have a "Mexican Fiesta" celebration with mariachi, which was very cool. But, they had guests sit in tables of 8 or 10 as if it was a wedding or company dinner. That was the only time I saw pozole, bunuelos, churros, tacos al pastor, frijoles charros, etc. My suggestion for management is to have those things on the menu all the time as tourists come to Mexico to eat authentic Mexican food like that. It was delicious!!!

Overall summary, I give this hotel's service a 5+++ stars! But, I give it a 3 star on ambiance around the pool and lounge, comfort in the room, and their food. I do this to help the hotel improve these things.

Beautiful clean resort but food is not as advertised.

Beautiful hotel, friendly staff but food is not as advertised. Typically all inclusive resorts have at least one buffet style restaurant but this one doesn't. Grabbing a "quick" meal before going off for an activity just doesn't exist as service is very slow. Being vegetarian with food allergies we knew our selection would be limited but they didn't even provide what was on the menu. No tofu in the dish that was listed as having tofu in it, we had to special order peanut butter for breakfast. They added cheese to dishes that weren't supposed to have cheese even though we kept telling them to please not add cheese due to a dairy allergy. We at least expected some bean dishes....it's Mexico!!! We finally just gave up and had to leave the resort for dinner every night in search of plant based protein....so much for all inclusive!!!! The wait staff were very friendly and tried their best to accommodate but just couldn't.
Hint to the resort, please take your "specialty" dish off your lunch menu, ie Eggplant with tofu in tomato sauce...you don't have tofu in your resort. I definitely won't return to this resort.

Excellent location. Beautiful rooms and the staff is outstanding. Our butler Alex was excellent always their to make sure our wants and needs were met. The pool waiters Saul and Johnny were also exceptional. They remembered what you drank from one day to the next and was ready to serve you as soon as you settled on a seat at the pool. A little construction noise due to new tower being built but overall a wonderful vacation. The food at all the restaurants was also very good

Great location, right on the beach, second time visiting sunset plaza.

Great place to stay if you enjoy very clean rooms and great service. The hotel is one of the newer resorts in Vallarta. The food is average to above average and the service is great. This was my second trip to sunset plaza and it never disappoints. Javier the hotel manager is very helpful and has a very good staff. There is some construction going on right now,but I hardly noticed it. Great place to stay! I’ll be back again I’m sure.
