How to Get There
Let me start with the fact that this hotel is located in a beautiful spot. Every room has an ocean view and the pools are beautiful. Every day there is some kind of fun activity at one of the pools. Good times.
Now for the not so good times. Although check-in is three, we were not able to get into our room until about 4:30. OK. Not the worst. After the first night our room was not cleaned. I went down to the main desk to tell them and the man at reception shrugged his shoulders and said, "Well, I don't think you want them to come now, do you?" Since it was 8PM I said no so, no shampoo or clean towels that night.
The next day we were talking to another guest who told us that there were about 70 people who were sick at the resort. Some had to be taken to the hospital. She said they had taken a letter with signatures to the manager asking him to look into the situation and he refused to take the letter. So, she told us to be very careful.
It started the next day two of the 18 members of our group became very sick and could not leave their rooms for over a day. And when they came down, they were very weak. The last night we were there my daughter became very sick and vomited and was in the bathroom all night. I was sick the night after I came home. We hav since learned that at least four more of our group also became ill. Upon reading Trip Advisor reviews, it seems many other travelers experienced the same thing. There is something wrong at that hotel.
Beautiful resort with awesome customer service. Food was definitely better than the other all inclusive resorts I've been to. Great value as well. The staff was extremely friendly even if they were just passing by. I would highly recommend to anyone looking for a place to stay in Puerto Vallarta. Quick taxi ride to the market (10 - 15 minutes).
I write this sitting by the ocean. I thought I'd write a small review now cause I might forget some notable names or important info.
in no particular order of pro and cons here we go.....
food: tis amazing. we especially love the Asian restaurant but the Italian and Mexican dont fall too far behind. lunch was pretty good at the chevichera. brekki was same anywhere you went. so I got tired of it somewhat.
rooms: maid service was outstanding and always had beer in our mini fridge. we tipped them separately. tip: we hoard our beer for the first few days then grab our garbage can from the room, fill about 10 beer in it and filled with ice. im not a fan of the draft beer here or anywhere really so this helped. the drinks at the bars and restaurants are on par. ask for a bay breeze.
staff: cant say enough about these ppl. they go way out there to please you.
grand club: not sure if this was worth the paid upgrade or not. since we cant compare to not having the grand. tho I will mention the drinks and food and staff are amazing up there. and we had a jacuzzi on our deck which was nice.
50$ credit: this is mind boggling. they tell you ya get a 50 dollar credit everyday to use on massages or use some specialty restaurants (French, steakhouse) or grab lobster at any restaurants but the fact is you will still pay our of pocket.....I'd scrap this whole idea altogether as its confusing and not worth it. we had a bottle of vodka (40oz) delivered to the room and they told us it was 49$......cmon man......we in Mexico.....but it's there so enjoy figuring it out. you dont get this back nor does it accumulate.
excursions: we went on a sail boat for 6 hrs and had an absolute blast. I highly recommend. shared it with about 8 ppl. had an open bar and we booked through vallarta tours thru our westjet rep. the snorkel was meh....but we did see whales, dolphins and manta rays during our sail. loved it. it ran us 119usd pp.
for the rest......we didnt venture much into the pool nor had drinks from pool bar. but ppl looked as if they enjoyed themselves, we are ocean ppl and it is a bit rocky and small. bring some water shoes and youl be fine. I bring my own snorkel mask and had seen many types of fish around our beach.
shout out to Diego, Miguel, Fernando, Luiz and so many other ppl at this resort. enjoy!
Amazing time at this resort. This was our first time at this resort and we would definitely return. Couple in mid 30s. We first have to give a shout out to Mariano in the Mexican Restaurant who provided amazing service, Gloria at the sky bar who made the best drinks and always had a smile on her face, Omar the server at the beach, this guy was incredible he was constantly walking around making sure everyone had drinks and would also bring food down to the beach for us, Excellent service, and lastly Abrahan the bellman did a fantastic job and greeted us on a daily basis. All the staff we encountered were very friendly. What I also absolutely loved was that all the rooms were ocean view and you could literally see the ocean from everywhere in the room including the shower and restroom-whoever designed those rooms deserves props! I also noticed at some of the other resorts we have been too there has been a sulfur type smell but I didn't notice that here- the grounds were very clean and people were always sweeping and cleaning every morning. My husband and I also LOVED the sky bar-we would lay out on the chairs in the mornings and then at night we would go back up and watch the sunsets which were BEAUTIFUL-Definitely one of our favorite spots at the resort. Our favorite restaurant was the Italian. We also enjoyed the beef tacos for lunch at the Shore Grill. The beach and water were beautiful the only con is that you cant walk very far on the beach from the resort because of the rocks. Shows were also great at the resort. Loved the big Christmas tree in the lobby. Very nice clean resort!
Amazing Property and Staff. This was my first time in Mexico and I cane to celebrate my birthday. I was completely blown away with the accommodations at Grand Fiesta! Great atmosphere, activities & staff!
