How to Get There
My family and I just spend the last six days at the Grand Fiesta Americana and it was absolutely amazing! The hospitality was out of this world. The food and drinks were delicious and the activities keep you busy or simply watching on the sidelines was just as fun. Make sure to take a dance lesson with Jorge he is an amazing dancer and really connects with the guest. I've stayed at another hotel in PV, but from now on I will only stay at the GFA.
I was there for 4 days with 10 other women for a bachelorette party and we really enjoyed our stay. The resort is very clean and well kept, the rooms are all ocean facing so obviously amazing. We spent a majority of our time in PV at the resort and the service was amazing - it can be a tall order keeping 11 women happy. Alfredo always made sure that we had a drink in hand and Jorge kept the entertainment coming at the pool. We all made amazing memories and would highly recommenced it!
My only complaint...the roof top bar was very loud and kept us up some nights...when we weren't there ourselves.
It was an amazing vacation! Everyone at the hotel was so nice, friendly and helpful, especially Cesar, Christian, & Johnathan!! The food, pool and views were awesome! The Cevicheria was our favorite lunch spot...all of the food there was so good! The lamb burger and jalepeno poppers at the Shore Grill were delicious! The Asian restaurant, Yuu, was so yummy. And our absolute favorite was the Mexican restaurant, El Rojo Corazon, with the best table-side guacamole we've ever had in our lives and an octopus tempura that was one of the best things I've ever eaten!! The foot massages in our poolside cabana were to die for, and Cynthia was so helpful with reserving and switching our cabanas! The ever-flowing drinks made our stay so much fun...with special mention to our poolside servers Israel and Alfredo! The spa was so relaxing, and our massage therapist, Omar, was phenomenal!! Our room, the Governor's Suite, with it's humungous patio and jacuzzi, was crazy awesome and the bed in our room was so comfortable...providing us with very restful nights. The shows were spectacular...especially the Dance Risque! And finally, our stay would not have been the same without the help of the head concierge, Adrian Mena. He was so friendly and helpful, from our email correspondence before our vacation, to greeting us upon our arrival, to checking in on us daily and helping us with information and advice to make our stay unforgettable. Thank you all for a fabulous vacation and a special thank you to Alain Berthelot, the Managing Director of the hotel, for making sure we enjoyed our time in Puerto Vallarta!
I have been to PV over five times and this resort had the best food, ocean water, staff and design! We upgraded to the 14th floor for a low price and were able to have fine sushi and top shelf drinks in VIP. The design of the hotel is so pretty. Each bar has a different theme. Antonio in the Tequila Bar makes amazing drinks if you want to try something new just tell him what you like and he will whip up something amazing. Jorge makes friends with everyone, every day! He keeps his energy throughout the day and gets guests involved in the activities by the pool. I do think the night entertainment needs a bit of a boost. The dance floor is often empty even when good music is playing. Maybe if there was event/activity people at night too! Jorge all day!! :) When I come to PV again I will choose this resort!

This review is much delayed (stayed July 2017) and meant to post it a while ago but I want to add it now because we are returning next week and we can’t wait! We loved nearly everything about the resort. It is gorgeous! Very clean and modern, and the food and drinks are plentiful. Several observations:
CHECK IN: We had no real complaints, though the front desk staff person was not familiar with the package we purchased through Southwest Vacations. After he looked into it, all was well and we were sent up to the Grand Club to finish checking in. Afterward we met with Lorena in the lobby who got us drinks and told us about the hotel. She offered to discuss timeshare details, which we politely declined. She made us feel very welcome and made sure we knew how to find her if we wanted to find out more later.
ROOMS: The rooms are spacious, well-appointed and have a cool and modern vibe. The lighting is interestingly designed and can be adjusted to fit the mood. The AC worked well – which is key during the summer months. The bathroom was unique because it had a window into the bedroom, which we enjoyed because the sunlight from the balcony could filter in. Of course there were blinds for privacy, though inside the bathroom the large shower and separate water closet were made entirely of glass, but this wasn’t a problem while travelling as a couple. We enjoyed the small couch and breakfast table, which we used for room service a couple times. There was a well-stocked minibar (beer, water, snacks) and a coffee maker with mugs and glassware. Storage was sufficient. The large smart TV was great for moments of downtime.
Of course, THE VIEW! The view is simply stunning, as if the sea is right outside your balcony. Well, actually it is! We were on the northmost end of the north tower and could look out over the entire resort and beyond to the bay. We got to see fireworks the first night and an awesome lightning storm the one night it rained heavily. There are chairs and a small table on the balcony, which we primarily used to hang wet bathing suits to dry out. Bed was very comfortable!
SERVICE: All the staff we encountered gave us top-notch service. Of particular note was Delia, who was often pouring drinks at one of the many bars. She was outstanding! Hector was the shining star of the Grand Club and he treated us like family. We would go to the Tapas Bar to see Modesta, who was so helpful and friendly and eager to refill our sangria. They made as feel completely at home and always treated us like kings.
Service in the restaurants was also great, though sometimes it felt a little slow. This was no problem for us because we there to relax and were never in need to rush. We enjoyed the buffet (bloody mary and mimosa station!), the Taqueria and Italian Restaurant the most (we ate dinner there three times!)
Housekeeping did not feel as consistent as the restaurant/bar service, though we never had any real issues. For example I don’t think we got the daily activities bulletin or turndown service regularly, and room cleaning seemed to happen late in the day. But generally we had a clean room and a stocked fridge.
GRAND CLUB LOUNGE: 10/10 recommend. If you have the opportunity, stay in a grand-level room and make use of the included access to the lounge. It is worth the upgrade! Either as part of your vacation package purchase or you can upgrade when you arrive at the resort (if space is available). Small bites of food and desserts are plentiful and there is a well-stocked top shelf bar. Service is exquisite, as is the view from the 13th floor. There is amazing air-conditioning, soft seating, TVs and even a small library and computers – a perfect place to relax when you’ve had enough sun for the day or between activates, but note that there is a dress code if you’re coming up from the pool. Another shoutout to HECTOR!
FOOD/DRINKS: We found the restaurants to be as good if not better than average for a resort of this type. The portions at the restaurants (non-buffet) places are average/small, which for us was perfect because we didn’t leave dinner feeling stuffed and heavy. But if you prefer a larger meal you are free to order as many dishes as you like. Do note that you have to make arrangements for the restaurants in advance, but it was never a problem for us. The buffet is almost always open without arrangements. If possible go to Gulietta (Italian) during sunset and sit near the window. It’s really spectacular. There is also a Mexican and an Asian main restaurant, as well as a taqueria, shore grill, cevicheria, and tapas bar.
Drinks with meals and drinks at the bars were good. The blackberry or raspberry pina colada was my favorite poolside drink! There are several theme bars in addition to the lobby bar, including a mojito bar, martini bar, tequila bar. They are all great and each offer something a little different. Make sure to check out the Martini Bar, which has a billiards table and is one of the few bars that is completely air-conditioned!
OUTDOOR ACTIVITIES/ENTERTAINMENT: The beach is small but inviting and when not swimming or sunbathing on the sand it served as a perfect backdrop for a day at the pool. The swim up bar had great service and there is always something exciting going on during the day, including music, games and activities. Shoutout to Rodrigo for drink service pool-side. This was not a problem for us, but getting the best loungers is pretty competitive. Keep a watchful eye out or consider going down early in the day. Also there are beach vendors but all encounters we had we very brief and polite.
The evening entertainment was good, even if pretty standard for this level of resort: singing, dancing, cabaret, aerobatics, magic etc., except for one night the lobby was transformed into a catwalk arena and there was a fashion show which was pretty exciting.
OVERALL: We thought this was basically a perfect place to visit, especially for our first time in Mexico/PV. We stayed 6 nights last time and were never tired of the food, drinks and entertainment. We will be staying a few days longer this time and are excited to do more things (spa, steakhouse, cabanas, cevicheria) that we missed last year.
Thank you GFA PV! Besos!
