This 80-room all inclusive has the feel of a secluded estate, with lush gardens, a private beach club, and golfing facilities within view. Expect sunny, traditional Mexican décor–terracotta floors, bright pops of yellow, and cheerful ceramic sculptures by Mexican artist Sergio Bustamante. Dining is either casual Mexican-inspired cuisine served on a terrace by a tranquil koi pond, or Asian-influenced dishes overlooking the Pacific Ocean. (There’s also a decadent swim-up pool bar, with endless cocktails included in the room rate.) The hotel is located minutes from several world-class golf courses.
In the Area
Hit the fairway your way, whether at the Joe Finger-designed Marina Vallarta Golf Course, with its magnificent bayside setting and mountain backdrop, or the stunning Spanish Colonial-style Vista Vallarta course, designed by Jack Nicklaus and Tom Weiskopf. If putting isn’t your thing, hit the much-loved Old Farmer’s Market in downtown Puerto Vallarta, where you can browse everything from Mexican chocolate to artisanal cheeses and home-made salsas.
How to Get There
We have been to a lot of places, a lot of resorts. Casa Velas ranks at the top. This all adult small and quiet hotel for the mostly 40 and over crowd caters to you in every way. Consistantly .From the manicured grounds, to the spacious and spotless rooms, to the excellent fresh foods, to the attentive service, it never disappoints. They go out of their way to do whatever they can to make you happy.
This hotel consisits of two properties about a ten minute walk or three minute shuttle ride apart. The Beach Club is a lovely breezy area to soak up the sun and sand. Although the ocean water is a bit rough, not very conducive to swimming and the undertow is strong, it is still very beautiful. The swimming pool makes up where the ocean is lacking. All manner of water sports is available from vendors, and the hawkers trying to sell silver jewlerey are plentiful but not obnoxious. You need never to fight for a lounge chair or cabana. One can get a great 20 minute massage on the beach for $20. The drinks are plentiful the food is delicious.
The sister hotels are available for your dinner reservations and are as equally fine. One is very close, and full of kids, and the other is a twenty minute shuttle ride but worth the effort. They will pick you up at an arranged time.
On the negative side, the hotel pool water was too warm to be refreshing, but other than that, I can't think of any other way to improve Casa Velas.
This was our first all inclusive. We have traveled all over Mexico for years but had not been in Puerto Vallarta in over 30 years. We needed a quick break and booked in for nearly two weeks. The room was beautifully appointed with a nice patio. The pool was spacious and comfortable, and we also enjoyed the beach club which provided comfy chairs on the beach or around another pool. The service was top notch everywhere and the food at the various venues was very good.
We were "rescued" from a different hotel by a team from Casa Velas. We were resituated, and never had a moment of regret. We love this place. We were in the all inclusive program and have no complaints. We enjoyed drinks and snacks by the pool or on the beach, amazing meals in the restaurant. The staff was amazing.
We had a wonderful stay at Casa Velas and we cannot wait to return. The staff is extraordinarily attentive to its guests, including the chef who made sure our vegetarian needs were met. The beachfront was wonderful, including a memorable sunset dining experience
This small luxury resort is my new favorite hotel in Mexico! Everything was great starting from accommodations, service, food and entertainment. This hotel is not on the beach, but they have private beach with fully staffed beach club just 5 min away. Shuttle runs upon request and we never had an issue with waiting more than couple of minutes.
Also, resort is surrounded by two golf courses and golf is included!
