Luxe rustic retreat with an award-winning restaurant, serene spa, sleigh rides and killer mountain vistas
Jackson Hole’s Spring Creek Ranch sports contemporary Western decor in lieu of loud cowboy kitsch. The soaring wood and iron structure, with a copper-framed fireplace, is set off by view-framing floor-to-ceiling windows. Soft, cognac-colored leather armchairs are as inviting as the staff, whose professionalism strikes the right balance between sophisticated service and warm Western hospitality.
Bed and Bath
Ranging from inn-like cabin studios to full-blown mountain houses, each of the 123 living spaces has an unobstructed view of dramatic Grand Teton peak, the jewel in the range’s rugged crown. These luxe getaways, constructed from fir, spruce, and lodgepole pine, seamlessly blend into their alpine environment and are kitted out with a wood-burning fireplace and private terrace.
The ranch is situated on a 1,000-acre wildlife sanctuary where moose, elk, red-tailed hawks, bald eagles, buffalo and antelope roam and nest. Explore Spring Creek's expansive grounds by snowshoeing up and over the butte with an on-site naturalist, or, for a more relaxed approach, hop on a horse-drawn sleigh — especially romantic at night. Finish the day with a massage that uses products made from local alpine juniper and cypress. Meals are served at the Granary, a spectacular dining room built into the cliff, with walls of windows framing the mountains. In warmer months, sit around the firepit for s’mores and an astronomy lesson.
In the Area
While there’s plenty to keep you occupied on-site, a trip to nearby Yellowstone National Park, Jackson’s saloon-filled downtown or the world-renowned Jackson Hole Ski Resort are just a free shuttle ride away. Adventure-seekers can hover over the 305,000 acres of legendary Jackson terrain with High Mountain Heli-Skiing. Don’t miss downtown’s pitch-perfect Snake River Grill, with its luxe spin on Wild West dining and melt-in-your-mouth dessert soufflés. Explore Yellowstone by snowmobile and enjoy a lunch of hearty beef stew as Old Faithful erupts before your eyes. Each year, Jackson Hole’s slopes and backcountry bowls get about 500 inches of fresh powder, ideal for days of schussing.
