How to Get There
We booked this hotel on our first trip to the Jackson area based on its location, and we were not disappointed. WBC is close to the center of town but a few blocks away so you are not bothered by the traffic. We booked a king suite and were very happy with the room and the amenities, I thought having a washer/dryer was a little overkill.....until we ended up using it s a few times during our stay!! (A few tours may get you a little dusty/dirty) The housekeeping staff always kept our room clean and stocked with fresh towels and soaps. All of the desk clerks were friendly and helpful, offering solid recommendations any time we asked.
The breakfast was enough to get you going, offering hot breakfast sandwiches, a waffle maker, muffins, yogurt and a variety of cereals.
I used the fitness center several times and was impressed by its equipment, especially for a hotel its size. A good mixture of free weights, machines, Kettlebells and TRX gear. More than just a treadmill and a stepper, usually found in hotels 3 times this size.
I would be remiss if I didn't mention the concierge, Israel G.. We made contact with him a few weeks prior to our arrival to plan our tours as we had never been there before. Israel sent us a long list of recommendations and we corresponded by telephone and email several times to narrow down our choices. Everything we did was fantastic and well worth our time. Israel was spot on with all of recommendations and the tour companies that he chose for us.
DO NOT MISS THE WBC RESTAURANT!!! (Separate review) yes you need reservations as it is a little small and its reputation as being one of the best restaurants in Jackson is no longer a secret.
We had a memorable vacation and the staff of the WBC was a part of it..
We visited Jackson for the first time this summer (2018) as a stop on our tour of Colorado and Wyoming. I picked the hotel mainly for its location as we like being based in the town centre and walking around in the evenings.
We found the hotel to be well located with plenty of parking space. On arrival the front desk staff were friendly and helpful. The room we were allocated was great. Plenty of space, good A/C, good WiFi, comfortable beds and nice bathroom.
The overall feel of the hotel was great with "boutique" touches as marketed. We didn't eat dinner in the hotel as we like to explore but we did have cocktails in the bar and again the staff were great and the ambience good.
The only criticism I would levy is with regards to the breakfast which was include in the room rate. The choice and quality of the food was not up to the stadard I would expect from a hotel that positions itself as luxury. They also used disposable plates and plastic cutlery! We did mention this to the front desk on check out and were told we were not the first to raise this point and that they were in the process of addressing it with metal cutlery at least.
However, I would recommend the hotel as a good choice in Jackson.
My wife and I travel extensively and while we tend to stay at high end hotels, we also during the course of business stay in every day hotels... so we try to rate according to cost and value....
Why are the reviews so all over the place for this hotel... ? Because the rooms are all over the place... our $600 room was the size of a postage stamp...with a wall built into the middle of it...to create the impression that it was two rooms... (yikes). Some rooms looked nice and large... but most looked like ours. From the website you would think this is a full service high end hotel... but you'd be wrong... more like an Airbnb ... there is a receptionist at the front desk. Period. No Concierge (the concierge "desk" directs you to the receptionist). Spa. Not Really. Help with your luggage. No. Complimentary basic water by the bed. No. The bathroom is so small that you have to hang towels over the toilet or in the closet (yuk). Views. No... unless you really strain your neck.... and ours was a "view room"
Get the Picture? If you treat it as a high priced Airbnb where you have no idea what room you will get, you'll be fine.
In their favor, Jackson Hole in High Season is overpriced, and most hotel rooms are out of date.... at least this place was clean and newerish..
We booked here on a recommendation from a family member. We stayed in the penthouse at a high rate even for this area. As a weekly traveler, I see a lot of properties. For "4 star" properties, I'm accustomed to extreme attention to details and catering to your clientele. Neither did we find here.
The penthouse was large and furnished nicely. Then you notice that someone spilled something on the leather sofa -huge wet area. No fan. No towels. No notice.
The hot tub deck was dirty. Match boxes, old matches, and hair products littered the deck along with leaves and tree debris. At least 1/3 of the bulbs were out. No attention to details.
We walked over for happy hour and dinner only to be told that they couldn't accommodate us. It was 5:15pm. I surprisingly asked if a $700 / night penthouse didn't move you to the front of the line and was told no. They referred us to their competition! That's bizarre. Oh, there was three in the party.
On the second day, our key didn't work. I went over and requested a new key. The clerk asked for my room number. After punching around on two computers, she asked for my name. Punch, punch, punch and then a funny face. "Oh, you're in the penthouse. Wasn't expecting that." WTH??
We won't be back.
I did write to management about our experience and they offered a discount for next time, not exactly helpful. Arrived around 4:30p on a sunday and stood at the desk for about 7 plus minutes and no one was around - no one. were handed keys and told to park out back. That's no welcome, have you ever been to Jackson before, amenities they offered etc. Now mind the web state 24/7 desk attendant, bellman, valet etc. So I wasn't being demanding but I booked based on these services. Not told about the roof lounge, spa, nothing. Saw the desk attendant 2 more times and nothing. (when I emailed management was told they were short staffed and desk person was handling another guest issue) Sorry but I didn't get some free room - room was nice/ok not as stellar as I expected and NO view. didn't care for the sliding barn door on the bathroom. for a boutique style hotel i expected more, with so many options in the area I'm sure you can find a better option. the person above our room walking around was like they were in the room with us.
