How to Get There
I planned a 60th birthday celebration for my husband and me and two other couples in Jackson in Feb. to go snowmobiling, and booked this hotel through Hotels.com. We flew to Denver but United cancelled all flights in and out of Jackson Hole due to severe winter storms in the area. We tried to rent a car to drive and were told the roads were closed due to the storm and avalanches. United flew us back home and gave us a full refund on our flights. When I called to cancel our snowmobiles(a small company)the man we spoke with said they would not go out in such severe weather and of course he would fully refund our pre-paid snowmobile trips. When I called the White Buffalo Club I was told by the desk clerk, who said he was Director of Operations, that no refund would be made as they had a 30 DAY CANCELLATION POLICY. He was rude and condescending as well. I eventually spoke with the General Manager, Fernando Ramos, who told me that I should have acted like an adult and gotten trip insurance, because they were a small business and had to keep our money to stay in business(his desk clerk said the same thing). No compromise, no refund. I asked if we could have a credit for a future stay(we rebooked the trip for early March) and again his answer was no. Circumstances beyond both our control, but absolutely no help or understanding on his part. Reading other terrible reviews and know that Mr. Ramos’ response will be that the policy was clear and tough luck. Very sad that this organization(owned by Western Trust or First Western Trust conducts their business in such a non-professional, non-customer service oriented fashion. STAY AWAY!!
Booked 4 nights with 2 other couples.
Flew United from Houston to Denver then Jackson airport closed for all aircraft. Tried to rent a car to drive 8 hours but learned interstate and highways closing with avalanche warnings too. United flew us back to Houston and gave us lunch plus a full 100% refund. Snowmobile outfitters called and said unsafe do not try to get into Jackson and gave us 100% refund due to winter storm. White Buffalo Hotel manager name Fernando Ramos told us he must keep $1600 100% of our 4 night stay. When asked if we could use the 4 nights later this year answer was "no". When small hotels are small minded they lose customer s and reputation. In their defense the White Buffalo cancellation policy is clearly 30 days. So unless you can predict acts of God and weather 30 days in advance DO NOT BOOK HERE.
I’ve been to Jackson Hole for skiing many times, most recently for four days in January 2019. I’ve stayed at many area hotels and this was my first visit to the White Buffalo Club. The hotel is one of the newer ones in town. It’s situated about a block off of the town’s (Jackson) main thoroughfare which makes for an easy walk to the famous “town square” and many restaurants, bars and shops. Like many of the newer lodges & hotels being built in Jackson, the WBC is an attractive, three story building constructed of timber, stone and lots of glass making it appear both rustic and modern at the same time. Check-in proceeded swiftly with no problems and I was in my third floor room in no time. The room was huge and well appointed. The two queen beds were comfortable with multiple pillows, a down comforter and a throw blanket. I had no trouble sleeping. There was a small desk with lamp, desk chair and a lounge chair as well (none of which I really used). There was also a smallish dresser, flat screen TV, mini-fridge and closet. The bathroom was gigantic with a separate shower and tub, marble sink and large mirror. The toilet was contained in another small room and there was even a washer & dryer (if you needed them). Everything was exceptionally clean upon arrival and the maid staff did a very good job of keeping it that way. If I have any complaints (and they are very minor) it would be that the shower temperature was a little hard to regulate (seemed to always be too hot or too cold) and there isn’t enough “dresser space” for those on extensive stays. Still neither would deter me from staying here again or recommending it to someone. The continental breakfast was pretty basic, neither horrible or outstanding. Coffee, milk and juices were available along with an assortment of fruits, cereals, muffins and there was also a waffle machine. The public areas were kept clean and clear. The hotel also has a very impressive health club in its basement with a large assortment of workout machines, weights and even a yoga studio. I didn’t get a chance to use the facility since I spent my days on the slopes. They offer a free shuttle both to and from Teton Village (Jackson Hole Mountain Resort) so you really don’t even need a vehicle. They will also shuttle you both to and from the airport for an extra charge ($20.00/person). I didn’t eat at the restaurant so I can’t comment on it. Altogether, I had a good stay with no problems. I’ve stayed at many hotels in town including The Lodge, The Wort, The Rustic Inn, Wyoming Inn, etc. and have no complaints about any of them, I’d have to say the same with regard to the WBC as well.
We stayed at White Buffalo Club on Labor Day, 2018. Originally we'd booked another lodging but when we arrived it was absolutely horrific (our fault, we looked at the website, not the reviews). After a 10 hour car trip we were exhausted and frustrated. I called WBC from a parking lot, they had a (gorgeous) room and gave us the friendliest welcome. The service was impeccable and the restaurant was out of this world. One of our favorite hotels, ever.
We stayed for 3 nights in one of the Loft suites. Our first room was on the second floor, and my husband, who is a light sleeper, found it to be quite noisy. The staff was very friendly and accommodating and moved us to the 3rd floor so we wouldn't have anyone over us. The staff is definitely the highlight of this hotel--from the front desk to the restaurant, everyone went out of their way to be accommodating. Our room was spacious and clean. Our daughter remarked that the sofa bed was the most comfortable she has ever slept on. The location is great and within walking distance of everything.
There are also a few areas that could use improvement. The Wi-Fi in our room was terrible. The beds were not very comfortable either. Apparently you only get 2 regular coffee pods per stay as ours were not restocked and there was a card saying you could get more if you paid $1.50/pod. Breakfast was very average--if you are trying to eat relatively healthy or low sugar/carb, it is nearly impossible. No protein options at all. We ate in the restaurant one night. Food was good but would have loved a kids menu (so that we didn't pay $32 for her burger and fries).
