Awesome Anvil

A welcoming hotel and great stay! Excellent information from friendly staff.
Loved the lattes!! Reasonable price for the location! The sister restaurant was 20 steps from our room
which is wonderful after a full day of sightseeing and hiking. A block away from the action, town square, variety of restaurants, and live music!

Average at best

The hotel was clean and decent but ridiculously overpriced for what is a very basic motel room with nice interior design. We stayed twice during a tour of the area and both rooms had issues (broken air conditioning, broken tap) which weren’t addressed despite us raising them.

Didn't feel safe and they tried to take money

The room was fine but we had an uncomfortable stay.

Our room was in a separate part, away from the main building. Because we were the corner room, our main window looked out onto a service road and was right next to people walking past, which made us feel a bit vulnerable.

Worse than that, the door to the room next to us shared an external door away from the rest and there were problems with the occupants of this room. It was a small double but there were at least 3 people staying in it and the next morning they brought out an inflatable double bed! There were comings and goings until 2 in the morning, with the door being slammed every time. It sounded like a lot of different people coming and going but could have been the original 3 or 4. Apart from not sleeping with all the noise, we felt a bit threatened by all the odd activity, especially as we were behind the extra door with this room. The reception was not open at night, so we couldn't call them to check things out.

When we arrived, we had to give a credit card and were told they would put a hold on $50, which would be released after we left. When we got home, we found they had tried to take $600 on the credit card! Luckily, the bank had refused it. This was totally unauthorised.
