The Review

Created by master designers Augusto Orsini and Andrea Fogli, the Argentario Golf Resort & Spa is a spectacular contemporary resort in an ancient coastal setting. Between the slopes of Mount Argentario and the Tyrrhenian Sea, the building’s smooth limestone facade is hard to miss against the verdant landscape, while inside the look is all clean lines and minimalist design, from the stone floors and soaring ceiling in the lobby to guestrooms in elegant monochrome and polished woods.

{“type”:”img-inline”,”src”:”/static/images/product/properties/editorialreviews/10383/pgal-98044-1302728149-full.jpg”,”width”:”275″,”caption”:”The enormous indoor swimming pool overlooks the hillsides in the Tuscan Maremma.”}The 55 Junior Suites are spread across three floors, and the Gallery Twin Suites have direct access to the outside pool area. On the higher floors, Junior Suites show off a classically European look, with oak floors, black furnishings and anthracite wall paneling. The glamorous Travel Club rooms feature a private terrace overlooking the resort’s celebrated golf course and come with their own Tabarca stone tub in the bedroom.

The 18-hole David Mezzacane–designed course is one of the few in the region to be Bioagricert-accredited, meaning everything used in its maintenance is completely natural and the surrounding ancient cork trees and olive groves are left untouched.

This environmental commitment extends to the enormous Espace Wellness Center, which opens directly onto the golf course. A true pampering retreat, the state-of-the-art spa features biosaunas with chromotherapy, emotional showers (with music, lights and fragrance), a panoramic indoor heated swimming pool and, in the Espace Medicine Center, naturopathic treatments that use organic and natural ingredients.

On the ground floor, the dining room of the Dama Dama restaurant reflects the resort’s casual but eye-catching elegance with an ironic mix of fake hunting trophies, lush velvet and natural fabrics. The cuisine is all Tuscan and Italian fare, conceived by chefs Fabrizio Santucci (famous for his two restaurants in Rome) and Emiliano Lombardelli.

Golf and Spa

Played a round at the Argentario golf club while my wife explored the Spa next to it. The golf course was good with well kept greens (fast!) but the bunkers were too hard not sandy enough...the greenery and the beautiful views make it a well worth
experience. There is a great contrast between the way the Spa is described on the website and the real experience. They try to impose you with ‘design’ but the ambition and ‘client’ friendliness of the staff leaves lots to be desired as was the quality of the food (microwave quality if not less...)and the presentation (cappucino in a styrofoam cup????). Overall a very poor ‘value for money’ ratio unfortunately.

Great Resort

What a great resort! A place to get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life and play some golf (PGA recognised) have a fantastic spa and wellness or just sit back and enjoy the wonderful views. The restaurants are very good with plenty of options on the menus.
The staff are fantastic in both the main resort and the golf club, nothing is too much trouble.
The owners should be exceptionally proud of the resort and all of the staff who make it feel like a home from home.
Thankyou for the experience we will see you all very soon!

Nice hotel but pool area let’s it down

We have just stayed for a long weekend at this hotel arriving on a Saturday and leaving on a Tuesday.

The weekend, especially Saturday was very busy, the pool area, which is small was so crowded that people had to lay on the grass due to lack of sun beds. The pool itself is small with a decked area around it and a grass area from that. We were surprised that there are is no drinks/snack service at the pool (very unusual for a hotel that claims to be 5star). There is a bar located a floor above the pool area where drinks are served but you have to leave the sun beds to go to the bar, have your drink at the bar and then walk back to the pool. This must leave the hotel losing so much money - drinks and snacks at the pool is a must at any hotel.

The rooms are nice (some are a bit quirky in decor) but the maid service is excellent and the room has everything you need for a pleasant stay.

We ate every evening meal in the golf club house and the food was excellent. A big shout out goes to Nicolai (hopefully got the spelling right) who has been club house restaurant manager for a few months. He is a lovely, charming man who made our experience very special. He is excellent with customer service and a credit to the hotel. All the staff at the club house are excellent under his guidance.

If we are in this area we will definitely stay here again but may try to avoid the busy weekend. The hotel is much more relaxing after the weekend rush.
