Overview

The Review

Created by master designers Augusto Orsini and Andrea Fogli, the Argentario Golf Resort & Spa is a spectacular contemporary resort in an ancient coastal setting. Between the slopes of Mount Argentario and the Tyrrhenian Sea, the building’s smooth limestone facade is hard to miss against the verdant landscape, while inside the look is all clean lines and minimalist design, from the stone floors and soaring ceiling in the lobby to guestrooms in elegant monochrome and polished woods.

On the higher floors, Junior Suites show off a classically European look, with oak floors, black furnishings and anthracite wall paneling. The glamorous Travel Club rooms feature a private terrace overlooking the resort’s celebrated golf course and come with their own Tabarca stone tub in the bedroom.

The 18-hole David Mezzacane–designed course is one of the few in the region to be Bioagricert-accredited, meaning everything used in its maintenance is completely natural and the surrounding ancient cork trees and olive groves are left untouched.

This environmental commitment extends to the enormous Espace Wellness Center, which opens directly onto the golf course. A true pampering retreat, the state-of-the-art spa features biosaunas with chromotherapy, emotional showers (with music, lights and fragrance), a panoramic indoor heated swimming pool and, in the Espace Medicine Center, naturopathic treatments that use organic and natural ingredients.

On the ground floor, the dining room of the Dama Dama restaurant reflects the resort’s casual but eye-catching elegance with an ironic mix of fake hunting trophies, lush velvet and natural fabrics. The cuisine is all Tuscan and Italian fare, conceived by chefs Fabrizio Santucci (famous for his two restaurants in Rome) and Emiliano Lombardelli.

Honeymoon Tranqulity and Beach Paradise
Reviewed 3 months ago

My wife and I recently spent 3 nights at this lovely property to kick off our honeymoon. We landed at Rome FCO and instead of driving we decided to take a nice scenic 1.5 hour train to Orbetello which is the closest town about 15 minutes from the hotel. The train was so simple and the hotel was waiting for us at the train station on the platform to help us with our bags. We hoped in the Land Rover (the sponsored partner of the property) and were well on our way.

Upon our arrival, the check in process was extremely smooth. The staff was expecting us as we chose to come in what is consider the off-season, so the property was very quiet.

Our room was a club travel suit on the third floor, I used American Express points for my redemption which covered the entire stay. Our room was extremely spacious and had plenty of storage for our things. We travel light. It has a great shower and a massive stone tub. There was also a private terrace with table and chairs. The hotel was kind enough to bring us a bottle of complementary processco as they knew we were starting our honeymoon.

Their are different pools (inside and outside) all at different temperatures. The outdoor pools overlook the golf course, walking paths, mountains and the beautiful Argentario coast. Again, since it was the low season, which I believe is the best time to be in Italy we had the entire pool to ourselves.

The property is on a golf course which is very nice. I am a avid golfer and read that people didn’t like to course, but remember it’s an eco friendly country and course, so they may be more restrictive as it relates to watering. However, I found nothing wrong.

The gym was perfect for the light workout I did one morning with free water and apples. My wife enjoyed the spa one day for a quick treatment while I enjoyed the sauna and steam room.

The included breakfast was well diverse and delicious each morning. The Dama Dama restaurant was also fantastic. The portions and prices are some of the best I’ve ever experienced traveling in Europe. We ate there every night. The Spaghetti Pomodoro Dama Dama style was life changing.

The hotel has a contract which a local beach club if you want to go to the beach. It’s about 15 minutes away. For 50 euros, the hotel gives your round trip shuttle service in a Land Rover and it also towels, beach chairs, a umbrella and a lock box for your belongings at the private club. Additionally, their were very clean bathrooms should you need them to change or relieve yourself. Furthermore, and perhaps the best part is the beach clubs restaurant. It’s directly located on the beach with beautiful views. We spent 5 hours at the beach on our second day.

We also spent one day in the nearby port town of Porto Seffano Santo. It was a lovely way to spend a few hours off the property. The village is perched right on the water and is great to walk around and watch all the fancy boats come and go.

We were supposed to go sailing through the hotels boat called the “far wind” but we were not able to because due to strong of winds during the day. It really didn’t matter because you can just take a ferry to other islands nearby if you so desire or go to the beach club.

Overall, this property was amazing! We felt that 3 days was the perfect amount of time to be there for two adults 29 years of age. Although we didn’t come in the height of the summer, I felt that this was a good thing as it was very quiet. The staff was extremely friendly and was always so willing to help with whatever questions we had. I would return to this property and so would my wife!!

Thank you Argentario for the wonderful stay!!!

Excellent overall resort for a pleasant week and much golf

Ordered a stay in a junior suite which was recommended by a prior review and this was a success both in accommodation and view. the service was excellent both within the hotel and golf facility. The food was to die for and not too rich or plentiful. Much more local Italian as oppose to gastro French. The euro strength at present makes drinks and eating out slightly dear and does have to be factored in. As does the fact that being in a conservation area the fairways are not watered sufficiently to be prestine in the current Summer heat but the views and interesting nature of the holes compensate to a great degree.. Mosquitoes on the course need protecting against but were not invasive. Overall a great success.

Relaxing stay on Monte Argentario
Reviewed 3 months ago

I thought it would be nice to spend two relaxing days in the Maremma before going to Rome for the weekend and heading home. I had heard nice things about Monte Argentario and this hotel appeared to be the best option in a very expensive area. I wasn't disappointed.

The hotel itself is very chic and lovely. The lobby is open and expansive and gives a good first impression. We booked a junior suite and the room was spacious and comfortable. The deck was a nice bonus and the bathroom and shower were great. Turndown service included a few bottles of water and the always needed clean towels. All in all the room was very clean and well taken care of.

I spoke to the front desk several times to ask questions about the various towns in the area and they were always very helpful. The instructions for the beach club were thorough and the directions were perfect. The beach club itself was really nice and we had a great day there.

I only ate breakfast at the hotel so can't comment on Dama Dama. The breakfast was very good with a lot of options and good service out on the terrace.

The pool are was terrific. I loved the views from the sun beds of all the greenery. The indoor pool was refreshing and it was cool to swim from there to the small outdoor pool. The whirlpool seats and the smaller hot tub and other spots were all really nice. All in all a very good pool setup.

It was a bit tricky to find the hotel the first time but once I found it I thought it was easy to get in and out. The hotel is in a good location for going to Porto Ercole, Orbatello, etc. And it is so nice to be out in the countryside, where we were able to truly unwind and relax for a couple days on a somewhat busy vacation. All in all I liked the hotel and would go back.

Disgusting service and hotel only for Mosquitoes.

Booked a stay at this Hotel for 4 nights to play golf as reviews suggested its good. Stayed for one night and checked out next morning after having bitten by Mosquitoes in their dining terrace during dinner on first night. Woke up next morning to realise that my arm and Hand were swollen from Mosquito bites and could not close my fist at all. Went down to reception to ask for a pharmacy. After seeing my arm and hand even the receptionist was shocked and shook his head in embarrassment. He did say sorry and agreed that yes sir we need to do something about this issue in this hotel.
I checked out immediately because its no point staying at a property where I Cannot go out of my room or even play golf. I ha e been bitten by Mosquitoes before as well but no where as worse as this property.
Now I wait to see if they will refund my stay that I have not used.
I would suggest if visiting this hotel then do not eat on Terrace or even stand there.

Should be 5 Stars but.....

Great 1st visit to the hotel but a few points disappointed us.

What we loved.

Lovely staff really make the stay worthwhile, the main restaurant very nice, breakfast great choice, loved the golf course don’t be put off by the dry fairways as it’s an eco course.

Design of the hotel was impressive, lovely spa and sports facilities.

What we did not like.

The junior suite is not suitable for families ie 2+1. Very large bathroom but a very impractical bath. Wardrobe is barely sufficient for 1 person let alone 3. When we arrived we complained 3 times about the A/C the room eventually cooled down after 24 hrs we then discovered the true reason why it took so long, when we went onto the terrace the following day we discovered that 1 double glazing window was missing approximately 3.5m x 2.5m. Which in large was the main reason why the room took time to cool. Really surprised that room 217 was rented in this condition ?.

As noted above could have and should have been 5 but......
