How to Get There
We had an amazing time here, culminating our week long honeymoon. The food was delicious (slightly expensive, but we had been forewarned of this!) Our room was stunning, with a beautiful view and the most comfortable bed I've ever known from a hotel. We had a bottle of champagne on arrival due to our honeymoon, and lovely treats brought to us each evening with turn down service. The hotel is stunning and very intimate. Located 'out in the sticks', which was perfect for us, but wouldn't recommend to those wanting to explore tourist spots etc.
Our first visit was April last year and we were so impressed with the whole experience that we booked again.
Away from the main buildings there are some individual lodges which could best be described as stylish and rather quirky. Some also come with plunge pools which is a fine way to relax after a day out. The internal layout of the lodges presents some interesting moments due to the toilet/shower area being simply screened from the main room, but hey, these are meant for couples.
The grounds are superbly maintained and guests are encouraged to walk through through the adjoining plantation.
The standard of dining is high but a little limited on the package menu for evening meals. We were pleased to see daily specials this year. There is another evening menu which provides a greater selection at extra cost. The breakfasts are superb and it is difficult not to over-indulge.
We recognised several staff members from last year and were warmly welcomed back which is really touching. The balance between leaving guests to do their own thing and willingness to help with any enquiries is just about right.
As regards suggestions, the resort may like to consider some additional nearby locations for the free bus service and perhaps a few rustic Sicilian dishes on the menu or perhaps a themed evening.
Overall we would highly recommend this resort.
We stayed here for 2 nights; we were welcomed with welcome drinks on arrival and then taken up to our room (if you can call it that, it had it's own heated pool and a large seating area!). The view was beautiful to wake up to in the morning, and the breakfast has lots of options for both hot and cold. We ate in the restaurant one of the nights. The food was delicious, so make sure you book ahead. We would definitely stay here again.
Very beautiful Hotel with great hospitality.
Nice decorated rooms, all with a beautiful view, some of them with view on the Etna.
Breakfast and diner was TOP, good looking swimming pool and they speak also Dutch .
If we go back to Sicilië we certainly will book this again.
Beautifully decorated and maintained. Fresh flowers in the public areas. The gardens are tranquil to walk around and very well maintained. A very relaxing hotel with lots of private seating areas, both inside and out, where you can sit back, relax and read a book with a gin and tonic . (I recommend the Gin-Ger) . We did not like our allocated room, which was a deluxe, and changed rooms without any fuss. Apparently the room we changed to was a downgrade ! (Room 6 from 10) . The attached photo is the view from our room , probably one of the best views I have ever had from a hotel window/balcony. Weather was not good but I could imagine sitting on the balcony in the summer with a cold beer -amazing !
The room & bed were very comfortable and very clean .
There is a good choice for breakfast from the buffet , there are some cooked to order items available .
All the staff in this hotel are friendly and very helpful. The transfer to and from the airport is a welcome service.
A few important things to note: the hotel is in the middle of nowhere so you cannot walk to any bars or restaurants, the train station is 30 minutes walk away (Carruba ) it has a good service ,we used it a few times to visit Syracuse & Catania.
We were on half board and the evening meal menu IS very nice but it became boring very quickly. They do add a ‘specials’ every night but that too seemed to be a small variation on the main menu. The first day we had lunch and dinner. The next day we had dinner and that meant we had eaten all the items on the menu !!!! We did mention this to management and they offered us alternatives the next day (thank you).
The shuttle runs on set days to set places, it doesn’t run up and down to various places on demand (like the station or beach for example) . We did the shuttle trip to Taormina,I would recommend you go there and see the ancient amphitheatre.
There are no taxis anywhere near the hotel or station.
We did the Mount Etna 4x4 tour (all day ) which the hotel arranged and I would highly recommend this also.
I would highly recommend this hotel if you are looking for a tranquil setting ‘away from it all’ to sit back relax and unwind.
