How to Get There
Staff were extremely helpful and obliging.
The resort was well placed for our visits by rented car to Ragusa, Modica, Scicli (Inspector Montalbano territory) Syracuse, Taormina and Mount Etna.
The hotel offers a shuttle service to Taormina and you can get to Syracuse by local train.
We had a great stay with excellent service from friendly staff. Highly recommended! Prices in the bar and restaurant are a bit high. Swimming pool, service, surroundings and (comfort) room are excellent.
We booked through Fleetway travel and we weren’t sure what to expect as this was our first trip with them. What a lovely surprise we got. We were picked up from the airport with a courteous driver who took straight to the hotel. When the gates were opened it was like an oasis of flora and greenery.
Everything about the hotel was first class, from the rooms with the free mini bar, the space to relax round the pool with pool towels, the staff who couldn’t do enough for you, that means all of them.
The restaurant was one of the best I’ve experienced on a holiday. In the evening everything was freshly cooked and prepared for you and we found the choice was excellent with their specials which changed everyday. The wine was always explained to you and complimented the meals.
To top it all as the hotel is in know where, they organised free shuttle trips in their vehicles or they would drop you off and pick you up from the nearest station or they would help to organise or put you in touch with other people that took you on paid trips.
Nothing was too much trouble. We would recommend and have recommended this hotel to all our friends and family who want to visit Sicily.
Thank you again
We stayed at Donna Carmela for only one night as part of our trip through Eastern Sicily. We very much wish we could have stayed longer. While we stayed at hotels with more outward "luxury," this property was the most pleasant and relaxing, and enhanced by warm and caring staff. The grounds and gardens are absolutely stunning. Our suite was furnished in a casual yet comfortable style, and had a balcony with a great view of the sea and the pool area. The breakfast was excellent, with an ample and fresh buffet selection and very good made-to-order omelets. The hotel restaurant is superb, and dinner there was easily one of the best meals I had on a trip full of outstanding meals. My husband and I agreed that when we return to Sicily, we will make this hotel the base for our exploration of the area, and stay much longer.
Stayed at this wonderful hotel last week for seven days. It far exceeded our expectations. Our room was a wonderful lodge in the landscaped gardens with a terrace and our own spa pool. The room was spacious and well furnished with a free mini bar. The hotel had lots of terraces and rooms to relax in and everything was attractively designed. The food was excellent at both breakfast and dinner(we had half board) and the service was fantastic. There is a small but beautiful pool and very comfortable sun beds and the grounds are large and well designed. At this time of year, June, the gardens are full of colour. The hotel is quiet with only 28 rooms and the service was excellent. The hotel is close to Etna and runs a free transport service to a variety of places but, it has to be said, there is not an awful lot to do in the area. The hotel would suit people who are looking for a quiet, relaxing holiday either couples or families with small children. Older children would find it too quiet. Overall, this was a really excellent hotel and we had a lovely, restful stay. 5*
