How to Get There
My wife and I had an excellent 3 night stay at Hotel Continental in Genoa, which is located right next to the main train station. The staff were all lovely and helpful and the room was clean, spacious and very well furnished with a super-comfortable king-sized bed and a little Juliet balcony to get a bit of the outside world from our room. I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again when we next find ourselves in Genoa.
The location is very close to the Genova Train station. Most of the tourist attractions can be reached by walk. Both main room and bathroom are decent size. The staffs at the reception and restaurant are helpful. Just take extra care to use the elevator, if you are travelling with kids. Elevator doors to be manually closed and elevator is bit old type.
The hotel is close to the main station in Genoa and is a short walk into the city centre.
The main feature of reception is the historic wrought iron lift, fun to use! Our room was spectacular - on a corner with double aspect views of the station square and statue of Colombus. The wall decoration makes it very special - a sea theme which is carried throughout the hotel with some thoughtful, quirky details. We slept very well.
The hotel adjoins its sister hotel with internal access between the two, including to the roof terrace bar. We tried to have a drink on the terrace twice, but did not get any service from the single busy staff member on the bar, and all the tables were uncleared from other guests’ meals and drinks. Breakfast was good.
I’d recommend the hotel to train travellers in particular due to the ease of access to/from the station.
