Follow in the footsteps of the illustrious young Queen Victoria with a stay at Albion House – a splendid Georgian landmark perched atop Ramsgate’s East Cliff. With commanding views over the Royal Harbour, Bursting with more than 200 years of history, the property was recently restored to its former Regency glory and retains many original features – from its intricate cornices to its grand sash windows.
Take sumptuous afternoon tea, sip a coffee or enjoy something stronger in the high-ceilinged Town Bar, where dark olive walls set off framed artworks with striking effect. The light-filled dining rooms make the perfect setting for sampling some of the region’s famous seafood. Those looking for a peaceful getaway will find Albion House an excellent and stylish choice – if you needed any more proof of that, this hideaway was recommended by Condé Nast Traveller as one of the best hotels for a British weekend break and it’s now positioned as Ramsgate’s number one hotel on TripAdvisor.
How to Get There
Albion House is a simply delightful hotel....tastefully refurbished to the most exacting
standards. No detail has been overlooked. The bed was super comfy with those enviable crackly whiter than white duvets and pillows. Our room was one of the
smaller at the top of the hotel with a gorgeous view of Ramsgate Harbour.....even
from the loo! Luxurious marble bathroom with spoiling bath products...everything one
could ask for a luxurious stay by the seaside.
The staff were impeccable, the breakfast superb.
The Loop bus linking Ramsgate, Broadstairs and Margate stops in front of the door,
so no need for a car once you are there. Quick trains from London and the station a
few minutes walk away.
Clearly the rest of Ramsgate will need to pull up its socks to keep up with the
example set. We look forward to another visit.
great food in a lovely hotel thats been thoughtfuly refubished. to a very high standard also allowed small dogs.
its position on the cliff overlooking the harbour makes this the best place to stay in ramsgate. well done to ben and his team.
We really enjoyed our time at the Albion House hotel and got a real kick out of staying where Queen Victoria once spent a few months! The hotel is in a great location and has been sensitively restored by the present owners. Definitely worth a visit!
If you are staying or Ramsgate or anywhere else in Thanet we thoroughly recommend Albion House as a very pleasant place to stay. It is overlooking the water and is within a few minutes walk of the Royal Harbour, the town centre and numerous pubs and restaurants.
The accommodation is of the highest standard, reasonably priced and the whole historic building has been wonderfully restored by the owners.
We didn’t have time to eat at the restaurant on the premises which looked fantastic, and we hope to visit again when we certainly will.
Our first visit to Ramsgate and we could not have found a more beautiful hotel to stay in - lovingly restored, furnished and maintained to such a high standard - I spent my time looking at details I can use in our own home! We were in Room 11 on the top floor that has a wonderful view of the Harbour and is high up enough that the Saturday night noise was not a bother. Lovely touches in the room, from the tea and coffee to the toiletries, and not forgetting the bed and treats provided for our dog. We had dinner in the bar (from the restaurant menu) as we had the dog with us and the food was absolutely delicious. Breakfast too was great - good coffee and an interesting menu for the cooked breakfast options. All of the staff were friendly and happy to help with local information. Hats off to Ben and the team for a perfect experience for us and the little dog.
