Follow in the footsteps of the illustrious young Queen Victoria with a stay at Albion House – a splendid Georgian landmark perched atop Ramsgate’s East Cliff. With commanding views over the Royal Harbour, Bursting with more than 200 years of history, the property was recently restored to its former Regency glory and retains many original features – from its intricate cornices to its grand sash windows.
Take sumptuous afternoon tea, sip a coffee or enjoy something stronger in the high-ceilinged Town Bar, where dark olive walls set off framed artworks with striking effect. The light-filled dining rooms make the perfect setting for sampling some of the region’s famous seafood. Those looking for a peaceful getaway will find Albion House an excellent and stylish choice – if you needed any more proof of that, this hideaway was recommended by Condé Nast Traveller as one of the best hotels for a British weekend break and it’s now positioned as Ramsgate’s number one hotel on TripAdvisor.
How to Get There
My fiancée found a welcoming friendly hotel for us to stay in. The top floor room up 3 flights of stairs had an amazing view of the port harbour. Everything had been thought through with the bed being incredibly comfortable and the rest of the furniture antique. The shower was really excellent with a marble bathroom having been very well designed. The living room downstairs was a luxury with large sofas and good tables to work at.
We would certainly recommend this as a good destination hotel an hour and a half from london.
My wife and I enjoyed a very comfortable stay at Albion House, booked through the Secret Escapes website. Gorgeous double room with sea view, all amenities and very helpful staff. The hotel is wonderfully placed, just above the pavilion and beach, round the corner from shops and very close to the Ramsgate attractions - harbour, tunnels, sailors church etc. It is instantly recognisable on the Ramsgate skyline from many places on the seafront. Highly recommended!
My husband booked the lovely room with a view, gorgeous to look out at the stormy seas whilst warm and safe in the suite. Friendly and professional staff, great breakfast and would wholly recommend this establishment for a night or two away.
We cannot praise The Albion House Hotel in Ramsgate enough. My wife and I went for a 2 night stay as the result of a special offer from the hotel. We were very warmly greeted on arrival and delighted with our light and airy room with a fabulous view over the sea. The room and bathroom were expensively and extremely comfortably furnished, spotlessly clean, excellent wifi and loads of complimentary high quality tea and coffee. All staff were highly professional and clearly very well trained and it was very refreshing that the owner was also the manager who clearly took a very keen interest in ensuring that everything ran as it was supposed to. The breakfast and dinner were also first class and highly imaginative and we cannot wait to stay at The Albion House again
Room was very clean and comfortable. Staff were friendly and professional. Food in restaurant was good and breakfast was excellent with a good choice of unusual breakfast dishes. Location was fabulous and overall I would stay here again.
