How to Get There
Myself and three friends stayed here for 3 nights this July.
Staff were friendly when checking in and first impressions were good, the reception area is grand and impressive.
We had a deluxe room with a huge bed and sofa bed. The room was absolutely massive and had more than enough room for our clothes to hang and extra room for storage. We had a lovely, big balcony too.
The roof pool is amazing and was much needed as temperatures reached 35 degrees! We always found beds. The pool bar is a little pricey but the food and drinks were good. Roof top bar for sunset is just beautiful.
Breakfast was good, good selection of hot and cold goods. Coffee was very nice.
The location we found to be perfect. A short walk (5mins) to a Silema marina where we took a boat trip to blue lagoon and Gozo. Also got the ferry to Valetta for €3.80 return. Beautiful city, not to be missed.
Our only negative was that each time we called down to reception to ask for anything, (extra towel and an ice bucket) no one would come and we ended up calling repeatedly until someone eventually brought it to us. This happened on two occasions.
I would highly recommend for a special place to stay if location is important to you.
Stayed seven nights in a superior room. Everything was up to expectations, the room was nice and functional with a balcony.
The pool area on the roof was big enough and had enough sun chairs for everybody. There was also a bar there with friendly and efficient service.
Breakfast was very good and had a cook who made eggs of your choice, which is always nice.
Location is great too, only a short walk from the harbour.
Highly recommended !
I have visited this hotel 4 times and will be back this December for my first Christmas vacation in Malta. I love the facilities - such as the Temptasian restaurant, the spa, the talk of the town cafe, it's all wonderful. The hotel has been recently redecorated and the cleanliness standards are so high, the staff so warm and friendly. The location is a short stroll to Sliema sea front where you can pick up the ferry to Valetta
Whilst this hotel was clean, comfortable, conveniently located and had a beautiful infinity swimming pool on the top floor, there were several things wrong with the room.
The beds were made up with duvets but there was a packet containing two sheets in the wardrobe with a message on it that they could be used if required if the guest only required a sheet. As the temperature was in the 30's, I duly flung aside the duvet and made up my bed with the sheet tucking it in at the bottom of the bed. Despite not having requested my bed to be changed (by using the card provided), two days later, I returned to my room to find a duvet on my bed, the sheet had been removed and I had to make up my bed again using the remaining sheet. Another couple of days after this, I returned to my room to find a duvet tucked in tightly. I removed it and in the process, inadvertently removed the sheet (which was not visible) that was under it and so had to make up my bed again. I found this irritating!
Althoguh the room was spacious, quiet and comfortable, some basic maintenance would have been appreciated. The sliding door to the bathroom kept getting stuck, the toilet roll holder fell of the wall and was not replaced, the cover over the drainage hole in the shower was lose and I repeatedly had to replace it and the head fell off the toilet brush in the toilet!
My daughter recommended this hotel as she stayed last year. Her recommendation was well-founded. The rooms we had were great, clean, comfortable and serviced daily. The views from the rooms over Sliema and the sea were spectacular. The roof pool had a bar/restaurant where we were issued with towels. The breakfast menu catered for all, the food was freshly cooked and plenty of it. We particularly enjoyed "Talk of the Town" restaurant coffee and the outstanding cakes which were also available at breakfast.
We had a room service Temptasian platter and an A Tavola pizza's which were absolutely gorgeous.
My wife and I would recommend the AX Palace to anyone and we intend to return to this friendly comfortable hotel next year.
