How to Get There
We were incredibly lucky to find the Amala and the Lifestyle Retreats group of hotels during our recent trip to Bali. Our stay was absolutely perfect great location for shopping in Seminyak. This little hotel is a gem in a hectic town. The hospitality warmth and care given to us during our stay was incredible absolutely nothing was too much to ask for. Our villa was beautiful large and we love the outside bathroom design and the pool. I love the little shop and had a great massage. Thank you to the whole Amala team you are all superstars we will be back
It is pleasant to stay here. Hospitality is wonderful, all our request are fulfilled with a big smile. Love all the greetings and it really make you feel at home~ There are birthday surprise from the hotel by singing the birthday song together with the birthday cake.
The spa treatment is nice but really need to reserve earlier else the available timing can be limited for your choice. Will definitely to recommend to stay here for couple:)
If I could rate the Amala 10 stars I would. We have been fortunate enough to stay at some incredible hotels & properties around the world but this one for me by far and away is one of my favourites.
We arrived early and a tad grumpy as our flight was awful to find the representative from the hotel was also there early to pick us up.
Upon checking in it was clear that our travel agent had made an error and booked us the wrong room type, we had requested the spa villa and were given a deluxe room.
I immediately became a tad irrational and upset(not at the hotel but at myself for not confirming this with the agent), 4 days away from our kids for our anniversary and I wanted a true villa experience with a pool!!
Well Yasa and Wanwan went out of their way to accomodate us. In fact he took me on a tour of the property showing me available rooms...I honestly was just happy with a pool, but no they wanted to make sure we were going to have an amazing time while we stayed with them. This included Yasa arranging phone cards for us because we were confused with the options.
Every staff member at this hotel made us feel so special with amazing breakfasts brought to the room, tranquil yoga allowing me to disconnect, a thoughtful card wishing us a happy anniversary, my favourite...The romantic bath with rose petals.
I also became ill whilst staying in Bali and Marta arranged for a car to take me to the pharmacy and offered to come with me, where else would you get this type of amazing service!?
I am also extremely impressed that The Amala is taking being environmentally friendly seriously by providing material shopping bags for guests, reminding us to turn lights and aircon off, no plastic bottles and asking whether its ok not to change sheets and towels.
We also appreciated the nightly spray of mosquito repellant and candles to the room.
Other perks included a car upon availability to take us around Seminyak.
All in all I would book again tomorrow without hesitation and hope my review encourages couples to go and experience The Amala. We have come back feeling refreshed and completely pampered.
Stayed here alone for two nights before moving on to a larger place for business. I had massages and a facial - lovely relaxing spa, and just chilled for two days. Left feeling totally refreshed and happy. Staff are attentive but not overly. Don’t miss the evening yoga sessions (no extra charge) and the food was delicious - especially the spring rolls. A lovely relaxing place up stay, with a sense of place and kind people.
I would give this hotel 4.5 out of 5 if possible, but for me it's closer to a 5 than a 4, so I've rated it as a 5. As mentioned, the staff are great, and go out of their way to help. The location is perfect - about 5/10 minute walk into the centre of Seminyak, and 15/20 minutes to the beach. One of the best services was the car service they offered, and we used it to go to a number of different places all over Seminyak. The food offered for breakfast was great with a good selection, and unlimited! We stayed in one of the pool villas, which had a great sized pool, and spacious living area. There are a few minor improvements I'd make for this to be a truly 5 out of 5 place:
- our pool seemed to have a slight cloudiness to it (I imagine this could be due to the leaves that fall in often, rather than due to it not being treated properly). Whilst the leaves are cleaned up every time the room is cleaned, might be an idea to leave a net around the pool so they can be removed at other times
- the sunbeds could do with having cushions on them. They're not overly uncomfortable to lie on, but could be more comfortable.
- the common areas, whilst tidy, could also have been a bit more polished, in particular the water features didn't look overly appealing
- breakfast sometimes took a while to be delivered versus other hotels we've stayed in
- the living area is outside - which means it's either pretty hot or there are mosquitos. Similarly, the bathroom is also effectively outside, but there is a mosquito net to stop them getting in. They are both great sizes though, with lots of useful features.
Overall, these are pretty minor points, and if you're looking for a great base to explore Seminyak at good value, I'd recommend this hotel.
