Close enough to Ubud’s buzzy bars and restaurants but surrounded by lush rice fields, Plataran Ubud Hotel and Resort is a best-of-both-worlds Balinese retreat. The intimate resort has just 46 rooms, all of them fresh and light with a contemporary minimalist look that incorporates sleek wood panels, local artwork or photography and floor-to-ceiling windows. Bathroom products come in cute ceramic pots. Dine on traditional Balinese cuisine with a contemporary twist or international dishes in the resort’s restaurant (or out on the wooden deck) while you gaze out to the grounds, studded with tropical palms. Two pools — one is on an upper level overlooking the surrounding rice fields — invite you to cool off, or switch off completely with an authentic Balinese massage at the spa.
In the Area
Ubud is Bali’s cultural hub, known for its royal palace, talented artisans and fertile river valleys lined with rice paddies. When you’re not lazing about by the pool, spend an afternoon admiring Ubud’s many crafts shops and galleries, book a daytrip to go whitewater rafting down the Ayung River or recharge at one of the town’s many yoga studios. Don’t miss a visit to the Ubud Palace, especially when it’s serving as the backdrop for a traditional dance performance.
How to Get There
Spacious room and friendly staff, always helpful. They arranged several trips for us around the island and all were very well organized!
The hotel offers free activities for its guests such as yoga, fruit carving or cooking classes.
Good value for money!
More choice for breakfast would have been nice, as we were on a rather restricted diet.
The Hotel is beautiful, people is extremely customer service oriented, Widi upgraded our room to a suite witch was very good and comfortable for our family as I was traveling with my little kids. we had a great time. Jorge Nunez - US
I stayed at the Plataran on my own in July and it was brilliant! The hotel is stunning- surrounded by rice fields and lots of greenery. Very, very peaceful- perfect! There are 2 pools, both lovely, and 2 restaurants/bar areas. Breakfast is served in the back restaurant, overlooking the pool and forest. The Plataran is smaller than I imagined by looking at the photos but it never felt too busy. I ate at the hotel a few times and it was really nice, and affordable. One night I had the Indonesian buffet dinner with a live noodle cooking station. It was fab- I stumbled across it so Plataran, please do more to tell guests about the buffet nights as it was great!
Everywhere is well cared for and really clean. Nice sized rooms with plenty of space for your case etc. Brilliant air con in rooms too.
I also had a spa treatment- a scrub and massage. It was amazing!! So relaxing, so professional and such good value! You have to book in!
Location wise, Plataran is south of the market, just down from monkey forest. It took me c.30mins to stroll to the market. I probably would’ve preferred to be closer to the market end, but the Plataran made the walk worthwhile. You can get a cheap bike taxi for c.30rp if you want anyway. Really enjoyed the market- much, much better shopping than in Seminyak for souvenirs.
There are loads of restaurants lining the roads so you can take your pick. Again, Ubud surprised me as it was smaller than I imagined but it’s such a lovely place. Very chilled, lots of places to eat and interesting little shops/stalls. And it smells amazing from the incense. Much preferred it to Seminyak, although the weather is not as good in Ubud.
I have to comment on the Plataran team. They were phenomenal! So so friendly and helpful. Nothing is too much and they always have huge smiles in their face. Lovely people!
The one very picky thing I could add as a build was the bed. It was huge as it’s 2 decent sized singles pushed together...amazing. However, I could feel the join in the middle so a thicker mattress topper would be good. This was a tiny thing though and not even important enough to tell them at the time to sort it. So do not let that put you off at all!
I’d definitely stay at the Plataran again- it’s brilliant value and a great choice for Ubud!
A huge thank you to he team for making my stay so brilliant.
We had the 3 bedroom villa with private pool

Will visit again and again !
We visited Bali to celebrate a special occasion and we are so happy we chose Plataran Ubud for our stay in Ubud.
It is very well located, close to the heart of Ubud yet in a serene setting where the room overlooks paddy fields.
While the property is excellent in all aspects for a comfortable stay, the service provided is absolutely fantastic.
Each and every member of the staff greets you warmly and you are addressed by name by many of the staff members.
Special thanks to Mr. Fisson, Widi, Shanti and all the exceptional staff at Plataran Ubud for making our stay a very special experience.
