Close enough to Ubud’s buzzy bars and restaurants but surrounded by lush rice fields, Plataran Ubud Hotel and Resort is a best-of-both-worlds Balinese retreat. The intimate resort has just 46 rooms, all of them fresh and light with a contemporary minimalist look that incorporates sleek wood panels, local artwork or photography and floor-to-ceiling windows. Bathroom products come in cute ceramic pots. Dine on traditional Balinese cuisine with a contemporary twist or international dishes in the resort’s restaurant (or out on the wooden deck) while you gaze out to the grounds, studded with tropical palms. Two pools — one is on an upper level overlooking the surrounding rice fields — invite you to cool off, or switch off completely with an authentic Balinese massage at the spa.
In the Area
Ubud is Bali’s cultural hub, known for its royal palace, talented artisans and fertile river valleys lined with rice paddies. When you’re not lazing about by the pool, spend an afternoon admiring Ubud’s many crafts shops and galleries, book a daytrip to go whitewater rafting down the Ayung River or recharge at one of the town’s many yoga studios. Don’t miss a visit to the Ubud Palace, especially when it’s serving as the backdrop for a traditional dance performance.
How to Get There
Checked out of this hotel today and I was very impressed by our stay.
The staff are very friendly and serve this hotel well. ( this is all of the staff from housekeeping to reception )
The breakfast room view of the rice fields is beautiful and so is the breakfast. The spa I used once and found the service very good
I did not eat dinner in the hotel as I like to be out in the local area - but from what I saw it looked good!
Would stay again no problem - always felt there wasn’t many people around which did make you feel more secluded
Very nice hotel location, it was great experience staying here with my family, great food both Indonesian & western. Room was spacious, clean, comfortable with beautiful rice paddy view.
Nice Afternoon tea service everyday.
A warm welcome from beginning to the end all.
Hotel Manager Mr. Agus Susanto and his assistant Mr. Fisson are superb also all Plataran Ubud staff very friendly, helpful and attentive ... thank you.
Loved our stay here.....
Will definitely come back again !!
We are just home from staying at Plataran Ubud (plunge pool villa) and don't have a bad word to say! Although the hotel is next to the busy Ubud street once you step inside you feel like you are in another world. Beautiful lush grounds overlooking the rice paddies, two large pools and luxurious and clean rooms. Wonderful, relaxing spa with a great massage.
Great complimentary activities at the hotel such as yoga which we enjoyed. The hotel also organise certain other activities and tours, we went on a cycle tour through the rice paddies which I would highly recommend, the tour guide was very enthusiastic and informative.
The hotel staff couldn't be more helpful or friendly, nothing was too much and they were extremely welcoming. Particular mention to Fisson (assistant manager) who was took special care to ensure all of our needs were met.
Thank you to all who made our holiday so special

Only had a short stay at Plataran but we were made so welcome from the moment we arrived. Hotel staff couldn't be more helpful and caring after a long drawn out complicated journey to get to Bali. Every member of staff treated us with care and respect and couldn't be more helpful and friendly. The food here is second to none that I know. Delicious and fresh and the best tasting coffee I had in Bali.
We attended a free Yoga morning session which is set in the beautiful grounds close to the paddy fields. We also had a traditional massage at this hotel. It was wonderful and the best massage experience of the whole tour. Fisson Sila Hari, Assistant Hotel Manager was so helpful, professional, cheerful and a joy to get to know. Thanks again to everyone at this unique stunning hotel.
Although situated on main road, this hotel is set far back and no noise encountered. Close to many shops, restaurants, Monkey Forest and walking distance to Ubud market. I cannot recommend this hotel enough.
