Intimate, 13-villa Balinese love nest with a private beach club, spa and waterfall-fed pool

The Lowdown

With a name that translates to “precious time,” the Jamahal Private Resort & Spa is boutique hideaway catering to honeymooners and couples who want the secluded romance of a private home without sacrificing service. Each of the 13 villas are uniquely decorated, airy and modern with restrained Balinese touches — think four-poster beds on wood floors, colorful textiles, carved objets d’art — and lush indoor-outdoor areas, a sundeck and private pool in some. Elsewhere, there’s a waterfall-fed pool, a spa, fitness center and a private beach club located five minutes from the resort. Fresh meals prepared with locally sourced ingredients can be served in the lounge or delivered to your suite.

In the Area

Ten minutes south of the airport, Jimbaran is known for three things: expensive resorts (developers call it the “Beverly Hills of Bali”), its beach (all golden sand and calm water), and the 50-odd fire-grilled seafood restaurants that line it, offering a no-pretense, quintessential way to take in a spectacular sunset. Menus are nearly identical, just pick out the fish you want, pay by weight and feast. Fisherman haul in the daily catch (6 a.m. to 9 a.m.) at the Fish Market near Jalan Tukad Ayung, north of the bay. Figure out how to cook it with half-day classes at The Four Seasons’s second-to-none Balinese Cooking School.

one of a kind romance
Reviewed 3 days ago

For the last two days of our trip around Bali, Jamahal was the decadent icing on an already highly gratifying cake. From the moment we stepped over the threshold into the fragrant, candle-lit reception, we had found ourselves in paradise.
Warm hands greeted us with tropical iced juices stirred with cinnamon sticks, hot towels and the reassurance that we need not lift a finger from this point on.
Even though this was our first time in Jimbaran, I had the immediate impression that we would not be seeing too much of it, given the nature of the sanctuary we found ourselves in. In their layout, service and design, Jamahal have gone above and beyond to ensure that each walled residence feels like your own and yours alone. Offering a highly personalised and luxurious service, the oasis is a quiet refuge from the city streets outside.
The romantic residence is for adults-only and predominantly targeted at couples and honey-mooners, but also makes for a great space to spend quality time with a friend, detox and reflect.
Known for it’s beautiful coastlines, the beach is just a short distance away and Ibiza Beach Club are happy to provide the soundtrack to an incredible sunset view. You also cannot pass on their fresh lobster spaghetti and the dessert selection for 2.
Moving to the Toya spa villa for our last night was an unforgettable experience. With its inviting stone baths, hand carved displays, in-house massage room, living room and private pool, it’s easily the finest that Jimbaran has to offer in the way of a private paradise.
A fragrant body oil massage begins with a crystal sound bowl induction to balance the mind, before drifting off into an hour of sensual relaxation that leaves you rested, restored and reconnected.
I could have easily gone an entire week without once leaving the villa, but as is always the way, our time to depart came all too soon.
If you are thinking of booking somewhere boutique, luxurious, unique, full of natural beauty and in a wonderful location near the coast, I cannot recommend Jamahal Jimbaran enough. The staff were full of charm and charisma, with an attentive level of service and I would also like to give a special thanks to Andrie the manager, who seems to go above and beyond to make this place what it is.
Bali is one of my favourite places and having sampled many of its hidden gems, I may just have to become a regular at the Jamahal Resort.

Next time we stay longer!

Great staff that really cared about our well being. Enjoyed the hotel very much; very comfortable with excellent amenities. Breakfast in our room was a real treat. Staff couldn’t do enough. Very pretty setting in a busy neighborhood. Would definitely return!

Fantastic stay....

Look no more if you want luxury and quiet. A perfect place to stay after you landed in Bali. Attentive staff with welcome drink and cold towel to refresh even when we arrived 3 am in the morning. I can not say enough how quiet, zen like, super clean room, and an amazing massage experience I've had. Cut short my Padang Padang surf camp and returned here again to recoup and let myself be pamper by the resort staff and amenities before my flight home. Stay at the Cempaka villa and love it !!!! Breakfast was incredible, so many option. Big disappointment at a nearby 5 stars restaurant Cuca-tapas for dinner- fancy but tasteless. Recommended in-room service or sea side for dinner. Everything you need is at the resort!!! Definitely will be back for more....

Peaceful luxury

Jamahal has exceeded my expectations and only wish I could have stayed longer as two nights was not enough to really enjoy this place. From the time we checked in to our departure, management and staff did not fall short of providing the best service and utmost pleasant experience to end our trip in Bali. You can really feel a sense of peace with the privacy of each room or villa and all the luxury present at this resort. The compound we stayed in had its own WiFi, infinity pool, bale, spa room and all the comforts of feeling at home. Upon walking into the villa, I was blown away with how beautiful it was from the entrance to the bedroom setup and up to the bathroom where a floral bath was ready for us to enjoy. Breakfast selection included many options and all meals ordered were abundant, fresh and very tasteful! A breakfast box was also provided as our flight was early morning. The massage was so soothing that I could only feel more relaxed which was much needed after all our traveling. The gym was very clean and had a good amount of equipment needed for a good workout. The resort pool was not an average pool, but one that mimicked nature with a waterfall and rocks which lived up to the peaceful feeling. Although the resort is not directly on the beach, there is a shuttle that runs from the resort to Jimbaran beach and a private area is available for guests of the resort. Unfortunately I was not able to visit the beach during the Nyepi holiday, but I look forward to returning again. I very much appreciate all the efforts of the staff in making our stay a relaxing and memorable one. Thank you especially to Andrie and Gun for providing us with with such great accommodation and for enhancing our stay to be nothing but pure luxury!
