With its minimalist architecture, modern decor and sleek, clean lines, the Ize Seminyak is not a traditional Balinese hotel. Striking slate-gray geometric paneling wraps around the property, and polished concrete, muted stone and light wood have been used to create an austere aesthetic. Light floods the lobby and corridors, blurring the line between interior and exterior, and the hotel feels expansive despite not being set on sprawling grounds. It’s a hip urban hotel that caters to a young crowd (25 to 35) looking for stylish, no-fuss comfort.
Bed and Bath
Of the 81 guestrooms, the higher categories (Ize Club) are furnished in dark woods and have iPod docks, whereas Deluxe and Deluxe Jacuzzi Rooms are kitted out with blond woods and have significantly smaller closet space; all have pale blue throws and jumbo pillows atop platform beds. The bathrooms are either a highlight or a drawback, depending on how much privacy you require, as they’re separated from the bedrooms by glass walls. There are shades that can be drawn across, but they don’t offer full coverage — fine if you’re on your own or with your partner, but potentially unsettling if you’re traveling with a friend. Bathrooms are equipped with a handy amenities kit, signature products and fluffy white towels that make stepping out of the shower or tub feel indulgent.
The Meja restaurant has a laid-back vibe, with distressed floors, vintage toys and pastel-colored rotary phones dotting the shelves. Helmed by Australian chef Bradley Harrison, it serves Balinese and European dishes from an open kitchen; the roasted pumpkin salad with quinoa and feta cheese, and the butterfish entrée are particular highlights. After dinner head to the rooftop bar for sea views and cocktails served in quirky jam jars.
In the Area
Seminyak attracts a party crowd, and the Ize puts you right in the center of the action. The lively neighborhood is packed with surfers and shoppers during the day and comes alive in the evening with all-night revelers. The hotel is flanked by bars, including the popular SOS Rooftop Lounge and Potato Head. For eats, try Mama San, a converted two-story dockside warehouse that serves Asian tapas on the ground floor and cocktails in the lounge upstairs; or Mozaic, located right on the beach.
How to Get There
Great hotel. Our stay was very pleasant at the IZE hotel. Very central in Seminyak, lovely staff. Rooms were cleaned twice a day, always come home to a made bed. Came for my partners birthday and they gave complimentary cake and balloons - very thankful.
The pillows were very large, good for some but we weren’t fans. Other than that our stay was amazing!
I wanted a solid hotel after my 28 hours of traveling to Seminyak and IZE Seminyak did not disappoint! The staff was extremely friendly and accommodating, the breakfast buffet was delicious and the location was perfect.
I really don’t have any complaints. 100% would stay here again :).
Great service and value for money! Room was clean and brand new! Service was great. Staffs were awesome! Especially to Reza he was very bice and helpful.
There were reviews from other guest that It gets noisy at night. But i didn’t experience that.
The breakfast spread can be improved more. But overall i am very much satisfied.
I will stay on my next visit!
Wasn't expecting much going into the hotel but had to say the hotel exceeded my expectation. I would definitely recommend the property for any tourist on a budget and is looking for a simple place to stay.
- Great location, right on the "strip"
- Good free breakfast (made to order items)
- Service surprisingly good (testament of the GM)
- Noise level low even though room faces busy st
- No spa (outsourced)
