With its minimalist architecture, modern decor and sleek, clean lines, the Ize Seminyak is not a traditional Balinese hotel. Striking slate-gray geometric paneling wraps around the property, and polished concrete, muted stone and light wood have been used to create an austere aesthetic. Light floods the lobby and corridors, blurring the line between interior and exterior, and the hotel feels expansive despite not being set on sprawling grounds. It’s a hip urban hotel that caters to a young crowd (25 to 35) looking for stylish, no-fuss comfort.
Bed and Bath
Of the 81 guestrooms, the higher categories (Ize Club) are furnished in dark woods and have iPod docks, whereas Deluxe and Deluxe Jacuzzi Rooms are kitted out with blond woods and have significantly smaller closet space; all have pale blue throws and jumbo pillows atop platform beds. The bathrooms are either a highlight or a drawback, depending on how much privacy you require, as they’re separated from the bedrooms by glass walls. There are shades that can be drawn across, but they don’t offer full coverage — fine if you’re on your own or with your partner, but potentially unsettling if you’re traveling with a friend. Bathrooms are equipped with a handy amenities kit, signature products and fluffy white towels that make stepping out of the shower or tub feel indulgent.
The Meja restaurant has a laid-back vibe, with distressed floors, vintage toys and pastel-colored rotary phones dotting the shelves. Helmed by Australian chef Bradley Harrison, it serves Balinese and European dishes from an open kitchen; the roasted pumpkin salad with quinoa and feta cheese, and the butterfish entrée are particular highlights. After dinner head to the rooftop bar for sea views and cocktails served in quirky jam jars.
In the Area
Seminyak attracts a party crowd, and the Ize puts you right in the center of the action. The lively neighborhood is packed with surfers and shoppers during the day and comes alive in the evening with all-night revelers. The hotel is flanked by bars, including the popular SOS Rooftop Lounge and Potato Head. For eats, try Mama San, a converted two-story dockside warehouse that serves Asian tapas on the ground floor and cocktails in the lounge upstairs; or Mozaic, located right on the beach.
How to Get There
IZE is a nice oasis in the middle of the action. Peaceful rooftop pool, minimalist, stylish rooms, terrific staff. Short 5-minute walk to the beach and Ku De Ta. Restaurant serves a variety at breakfast and is pretty good all around.
Good location of hotel, many reputable cafes situated within walking distance from hotel.
Room is decently clean and well maintained, water pressure was hot and good.
Live band at the bar was fairly good and drinks were reasonable priced.
The only con was the breakfast spread which was not fantastic. Will advise to walk down to nearby cafes for better breakfast options.
We stayed in the Club suite and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The room was very comfortable and had great views, and in particular the bathroom is amazing! You can take a bath in the jacuzzi while the sun sets. The rooftop pool has great vibes. Overall, this place comes highly recommended.
Stayed at IZE for two nights. The rooms are clean and spacious. Located in the centre of Seminyak, with many nice, shops, bars and restaurants around the corner.
The perfect place to stay when you would like to spend some days in Seminyak, close to the beach.
This hotel was a great stay, very modern with a great roof top pool. The room was very accommodating. Awaiting us in the room was a tasting plate of local fruits. The staff was only very accommodating with our luggage as we arrived before check in and left after check out.
