As one of the original properties on Bali’s Jimbaran Beach, on the narrow neck of Bali’s south coast, Belmond Jimbaran Puri has an air of elegance and tradition. Surrounded by lush vegetation and pristine beaches, this secluded retreat is set on a majestic four acres of grounds and manicured lawns. Here it’s all about the natural look, with polished wood or marble floors, swaths of muslin and thatch roofs. Such Balinese elements as bamboo, coral and blooming lotus are used throughout the resort, and authentic Balinese artwork dots the walls.
Bed and Bath
Due to the shape and location of the property, each of the 64 cottages and villas is close to the beach. In 2009 the resort added new pool villas; the huge One-Bedroom Deluxe Pool Villas have their own gardens with gazebos and private terraces with a pool. Though not as large, the Garden View Cottage Suites are still spacious and have high teak ceilings and contemporary furnishings. The Two-Bedroom Garden View Pool Cottages and Luxury Cottages have spacious bathrooms with sunken terrazzo bathtubs and powerful overhead rain showers.
Guests have two restaurants to choose from: beachside Nelayan, which specializes in fish, and Tunjung, where an American breakfast is served each morning. Between meals, be sure to visit the large stone-lined swimming pool and the Beach Spa, which uses products made from natural ingredients. The Balinese Coffee Scrub is an ideal pick-me-up, using fine-ground home-grown coffee and volcanic pumice from Mount Agung. And after a day at the beach, a Jasmine Javanese treatment will exfoliate away the effects of the hot Balinese sun.
How to Get There
Last week me and my husband stayed at this resort and we had a wonderful time! Great service, great food (big portion too!), and amazing sunset view by the beach. It’s also not far from the airport so getting here is quick.
My husband and I just returned from a stay to celebrate our anniversary. The hotel is beautiful and located right on a beautiful beach. Great for relaxing by the pool or on hr sand. The seafood restaurant is delicious but very pricy by Bali standards. We paid $100 usd for two people which is totally reasonable in the US but you can easily get a meal down the street for $1 per person. Not the same quality obviously but just for reference. The hotel staff really went out of the way to accommodate us for our celebration including a card and small gift in our room with they even upgraded us to a suite free of charge. Only have it 4 stars because we later found out that when you ask for a cab from the hotel they actually set you up with a “hotel driver” which is WAY more expensive than an actual taxi. Also, with the hot and humid weather I would’ve liked more air conditioned common areas to relax. That being said, it was overall a wonderful stay. Btw the happy hour at the beach bar is a must!
I stayed in standard Villa. Little touches like a welcome and farewell gift add to intimate feel. There is a library of travellers books, I managed to get through two, a great recycling idea. The staff are all lovely and helpful. Food was delicious especially tuna kebabs and lime cheesecake. Eggs perfect every time. Coffee could improve. The best thing is to sit on the beach from 5 pm and watch the sun go down. Locals and tourists share the beauty together. Every night was spectacular. I've visited Bali many times but this is the most I've spent in the ocean. Run on the beach, swim in the ocean. Go and eat a pile of prawns at the beach warungs.
The only suggestions I would give are:
1. Linen in rooms is ready for an upgrade especially the mosquito net, mine was hand sewn where it had been torn.
2. There are plenty of single travellers around, we like to be treated as single. So only one set of slippers next to bed and don't ask everytime I go to eat "how many people?"
Thanks Belmond. I'd love to come back.
We stayed at a cottage Belmond at Jimbaran Bay. The location was very convenient - our room was a leisurely 1 minute stroll from the beach and we were able to walk to the various warungs along the shore for a quick bite.
The cottage itself was comfortable while exhibiting a natural feel - the cottage had wooden and straw fittings around - while being modern (eg aircon, TV, electronic amenities). We were lucky to get a cottage with a private pool, which was a cooling retreat from the afternoon sun. The lack of insect-proofing was the only downside, but the resort staff conduct a resort-wide mosquito spraying at 5:30pm daily, so the only danger is the stray mosquito during the night - could be solved by having a mosquito coil or setting up the provided mosquito netting around the bed.
The staff are incredibly attentive to our needs and the hotel amenities are excellent - watersports like paddle boarding and canoeing are complimentary! This accommodation is highly recommended for families and couples looking for a nice beachside retreat at Jimbaran Bay
The Belmond is a really great hotel. Our family all loved it. Put it this way - when the August 18 earthquake hit Lombok we were left with nowhere to go so we just came back again to the Belmond.
It really is the best beach hotel at Jimbaran. They manage chic cool with good service. But the main thing is they have a very special head chef. This makes all the difference when you may eat somewhere for a week ! There are two restaurants and both good but really recommend trying the Indonesian one, it's actually best local cooking we had on the island.
The pool is huge and good temp.
The part of the beach is the best area of Jimbaran.
The sunset bar serves great cocktails.
The cottages are spacious.
Only thing for me is I didn't sleep so well, the bed is not so comfy. And it's always SO loud from the crashing of waves, animals, morning prayer etc
But hey that's Bali !
The desk are superhelpful and so polite.
Great holiday, definitely recommend but pls don't tell too many people ;)
