As one of the original properties on Bali’s Jimbaran Beach, on the narrow neck of Bali’s south coast, Belmond Jimbaran Puri has an air of elegance and tradition. Surrounded by lush vegetation and pristine beaches, this secluded retreat is set on a majestic four acres of grounds and manicured lawns. Here it’s all about the natural look, with polished wood or marble floors, swaths of muslin and thatch roofs. Such Balinese elements as bamboo, coral and blooming lotus are used throughout the resort, and authentic Balinese artwork dots the walls.
Bed and Bath
Due to the shape and location of the property, each of the 64 cottages and villas is close to the beach. In 2009 the resort added new pool villas; the huge One-Bedroom Deluxe Pool Villas have their own gardens with gazebos and private terraces with a pool. Though not as large, the Garden View Cottage Suites are still spacious and have high teak ceilings and contemporary furnishings. The Two-Bedroom Garden View Pool Cottages and Luxury Cottages have spacious bathrooms with sunken terrazzo bathtubs and powerful overhead rain showers.
Guests have two restaurants to choose from: beachside Nelayan, which specializes in fish, and Tunjung, where an American breakfast is served each morning. Between meals, be sure to visit the large stone-lined swimming pool and the Beach Spa, which uses products made from natural ingredients. The Balinese Coffee Scrub is an ideal pick-me-up, using fine-ground home-grown coffee and volcanic pumice from Mount Agung. And after a day at the beach, a Jasmine Javanese treatment will exfoliate away the effects of the hot Balinese sun.
How to Get There
We stayed here for 13 nights, in mid Feb. Our stay was almost perfect. All the staff were outstanding, so helpful and polite. The Cottage we had was large with a large bathroom and was always cleaned to a very high standard. With a small outside garden and patio and outside shower to clean off after coming back from the beach (only 30 to 40m away). The mini bar prices were the same as the bar on the beach. We wore flip-flops all the time.
The restaurant on the beach was excellent but a bit pricey. Breakfast was one of the best we have ever had (we have done 360 TA reviews)
The beach was good, but could be quite dirty on occasions if the wind was blowing from the West, with lots of plastic and other rubbish, but when the wind changed to the East for a few days it was fine.
The building has been around for almost 30 years and is need in updating in a number of areas.
The grounds were in an immaculate condition with a whole team of gardeners.
great location immediately on the Jimbaran beach. Hotel has been refurbished but still retains that dark room bali feel. renovation has not been 'back to the bones' as an example the old bathroom sliding door wouldn't close or lock . like most of Bali the staff are wonderful , except when we asked if they could book us into Cuca restaurant 50m away from hotel . after two attempts staff told us earliest was 9pm . we said no and they recommended the hotels own restaurant . my wife thought that was unusual and rang Cuca directly and we were advised any time is available. we had a fabulous meal there . Strange ......
We are staying at the Belmond Bali at the moment and I cannot fault it. A lovely cottage room, cocktails on the beach looking to the sunset, a lovely warm pool and even warmer sea. Plus a fabulous spa and massages on the sand.
But best of all is the impeccable, friendly service with staff who literally cannot do more for you . Yes it is a little more expensive than elsewhere here, but compared to 5 star hotels elsewhere , it is excellent value .
The whole place has a relaxed feel - just what you would want from Bali . And just along the beach are fantastic grilled fish shacks while next door is Cuca - one of the best , most inventive restaurants we have ever had the pleasure to visit (with an El Bulli trained chef)
All highly recommended
The last leg of our Bali trip and a great place to unwind. The pool and the beach were wonderful and the bar/restaurant right there was perfect with some over the top friendly staff. Nice clean rooms and quite spacious. The breakfast buffet was delicious.
Authentic Balinese style accommodation and super lush well kept gardens. A reason to stay at the Belmond is the hut style rooms, we really enjoyed our time there and the staff were ever so nice and couldn’t do enough to please you.
There are no stairs and all of the accommodation is on ground level. The beach access is easy and there are plenty of loungers or chairs to relax in. The pool is huge and it is more of a couples hotel so not too many little ones running about. Never an issue to get somewhere to sit etc and all of the rooms are ever so close to pool and beach.
We ate and drank in the hotel and if you can afford to stay then you should be able to afford to eat. Otherwise there is a terrific Indonesian restaurant 100 metres away called Kayumanis this has great service and cheap pricing. Cuca is a tapas style restaurant next door to Kayumanis it is very popular. Down the beach both sides of the hotel are the bbq seafood on the beach restaurants. We preferred to eat at the hotel on the beach restaurant it was great.
We stayed in a deluxe garden view chalet which was terrific and then we were upgraded to a deluxe pool villa which was super amazing. If you have the funds definitely opt for a villa they are out of this world.
Breakfast was great, everything is petite in sizing but you can help your self to as much as you like. For example the yoghurts come in a small glass container. There are daily egg specials or you can request basically anything you like. The only down side was that the cold meats and cheeses looked a little sweaty by 9am. Service was amazing though.
Those who aren’t aware most beaches in Bali suffer from plastic and trash washing up on the shore so the staff tidy and clean this up before most guests wake up. The beach has no traders and is generally very quiet.
We thoroughly enjoyed our time here and yes it is far from a lot of things but that’s the holiday we wanted.
