How to Get There
The property is very near and clean.
Room is a bit small, but it has quite reasonably big patio, at least for chilling outside the room.
I wish breakfast could be better.
I ordered egg benedict, it came to be small and not that good. Even the egg was to well cook.
I was staying for the first time at Alila Manggis while completing a diving trip. The resort is located next to the ocean, in a clean and maintained garden surrounded by coconut trees. The architecture of the bungalows is modern and elegant : straight lines, clear stone, little water ponds to access your entry door. Your room will offer you comfort and quietness : quality bed and pillows, fluffy towels, rain shower, fresh water and home-made coffee, as well as cleaning service twice a day.
The kindness of the staff is worth to be mentioned. You will feel more than a guest at Alila Manggis. Should you borrow a bike, have an emergency call to do, book a table at the restaurant, get pampered at the spa, everyone will be delighted to help you and facilitate your life as much as possible. The pool team will also treat you with fresh water to cool down under the sun - small attention that will be highly appreciated during sunny days.
Special attention for the environment care at the Alila Manggis. You can decide whether or not your sheets or towels need to be changed, and the food served at the restaurant is local, seasonal, and as much as possible coming from the hotel's organic garden. No plastic but glass bottles and bambou straws. Awesome.
Candidasa village and Zen Dive centre are easily accessible by bike (10 min) or by car/motorbike. The hotel kindly organizes daily shuttles as well.
Should it be a solo or couple trip, with family or friends, I would recommend the Alila Manggis for a relaxing and quiet stay.
I recently needed a break from the hustle and bustle of South Bali and decided that Alila Manggis was a place I needed to be !
I know Alila Seminyak well and also Alila Solo so I kind of knew that the place would be good . But it turned out to be GREAT .
Know that the actual property is 20 years old ... the upstairs rooms have been refurbished .. but I had a twin room downstairs ( 132) which was conveniently located close to the beach front . The room was ... well a room from the 90’s ... but the location was magnificent . The twin beds were about 10cm apart .. but at least they were twin beds 😂🤣 .
Usually I’d have wanted superior lodgings for the price but here is why I give the resort 5 star review .
It’s abundantly clear every staff member there is passionate about the Brand they represent . I felt they felt privileged to be employees... and it shows.
From the moment of arrival to our departure I can’t speak highly enough of their desire to make each and every guest feel special . Weda was soooo professional even when my Balinese family friend was flirting with her . She was so composed and very dignified . At reception , the GM personally introduced himself to us and repeated this with other arriving guests .
The gardens are tranquil, well maintained and provide a feeling of spaciousness.
Then the breakfast ... bravo for not having a huge smorgasbord where ants get first sitting ! .i loved that you just ordered from the menu and had table service . Not fighting with people who want to pile as much into their plates and then eating 10% of the sum 😡. For me , a highlight was a young man named Juli ... such a beacon of energy and pride in having succeeded and passed his probation . His English was fantastic and his passion for professionalism even greater . Bravo .
On checking out we were advised by the GM that the resort had been voted in the Top 10 on Indonesia ( by guest votes ) .. at number 5 or 6 as I recall . Well deserved and surely due to your staff . Well done Alila, well done to all the wonderful staff that make the difference for this resort .
The resort is located in a beautiful garden with traditional, elegant and simple architecture. All rooms face the pool and garden. The staff are extremely kind and attentive, and the breakfast is gorgeous.
The only down-sides for us: there was a very strong sea breeze every day from early afternoon which made the pool-side and ocean-front bar quite chilly and unpleasant. There was also strong swell which meant that you couldn’t swim in the ocean in front of the resort (its not a beach there, just a retaining wall so with big waves you would be smashed onto the wall). Unfortunately you can’t really walk anywhere from the resort. They have free bikes but it involves cycling along the busy narrow main road. We did do one of their cycle tours which was great. The resort offers any tour that you might like at short notice, which is great but they are expensive and I always felt that staff we pressuring us to do their tours.
In spite of these things, it is a lovely relaxing place to stay.
I am really happy to have returned to Alila Manggis after a first visit in July of last year. Smiling and super-efficient staff make this resort a real pleasure to stay in. A particular highlight is the a la carte breakfast served each morning, with daily and interesting changes to the menu. The pool is the focus for quiet relaxation, where during my stay there were offerings of free mini massages, afternoon tea and cakes as well as some refreshing sorbets. Since my stay last year there has been the addition of a new ocean front bar, providing truly fantastic views. I mainly relaxed around the pool and did not on this trip take advantage of any of the tours and activities on offer. I was here to relax for 5 days and staff did everything they could to ensure my comfort and well-being. I did attend the gourmet dinner and especially enjoyed the tuna starter and all the many, many other courses! I do however think that the standard evening a la carte menu needs a refresh! Overall, I thought all the F&B to be very fairly priced. This is a really well managed property in a glorious setting...enjoy! Alila Manggis Boleh!
