How to Get There
I stayed 8 nights at Alila Manggis to participate a yoga retreat in Nov 2019. The yoga retreat with great yoga and other activities was very relaxing and nice.
The hotel staff really made super effort to arrange everything so well. I felt that they are professionals and have thought everything. They took very good care of us; especially during the day trips to white sandy beach, cooking class in the organic garden and trekking.
Food at Seasalt restaurant was great for vegetarians also. Food was fresh and tastefull. They were willing to adjust the portions if you wished to have something else. Be prepared that the service can be slow but during the vacation it should be quite ok.
The buildings and the rooms are not that fancy the price of your stay lets you expect. My room was 205 and it definetely needed some fix. Room was very clean though. No bugs in the room.
Surroundings are very green but nothing special - lots of palm trees but basically nothing else. Small pool and pool area. The beach is not a place to be (e.g. very rocky). When you step out of the hotel area, it is very dirty like many places in Bali seem to be.
The hotel, food, trips and spa are expensive and I think even over priced (compared to general price level in Bali) if you need to pay for them separately. For the yoga retreat everything was included. Without the yoga retreat I would have been disappointed to the hotel but the programme of the retreat made my visit great.
Tip: as the staff is not native English speaker (neither I am), make sure e.g. in written that you really understood and agreed what they said (e.g. regarding price). I had very unpleasent surprise and humiliating experience when it was time to pay my bill.
Had a wonderful stay at Alilia Manggis. While it took a while to get there, it was worth the effort. The staff, food, location and yoga were all wonderful. Had a very relaxing time and managed to explore the local area which was beautiful. .
We stayed at Alila Manggis for 2 nights. The hotel is seafront and has a huge garden with a large swimmingpool and a ‘beach bar’. We upgraded our room 1 day prior arrival to the suite. This room is large with a private terrace incl sunbeds. The room overlooks the garden and has partly seaview. Inside the room is large with a kingsize bed and large bathroom incl shower and separate bath. Service is outstanding. Very friendly and serviceminded. Customer service is nr 1. Excellent food in the restaurant. Reasonably prized too. All being really good we do feel the accommodation needs some upgrade renovations inside for as far as our room is concerned. Overall a very nice and comfortable place to stay. Also only 15 minutes by taxi to the ferry that takes you to Lombok.
