Overview

Luxe seafront retreat on Sinquerim Beach with Goan-Portuguese-style rooms and an ayurvedic spa

The Lowdown

Set on 42 acres of Balinese-inspired gardens above Sinquerim Beach, the Vivanta by Taj Fort Aguada is a luxe resort overlooking the Arabian Sea. The Goan-Portuguese-style rooms, cottages and villas encapsulate the vibrant range of influences unique to Goa, India’s smallest state. The room numbers are painted on traditional azulejos (colorful Portuguese ceramic tiles), and the interiors are simply decorated with tile floors and white walls. They overlook either the garden or the sea, with the additional option of a “sit out” (a small outdoor seating area). Premium Indulgence Rooms are more colorful, with a teal and mustard color scheme, and the serviceable bathrooms feature Forest Essentials toiletries. There’s plenty to keep guests on the resort grounds, including a hexagonal infinity pool, a 24-hour gym and yoga classes, and the hotel offers a range of classes (from basket weaving to cooking), plus themed activities and excursions, such as fishing from a luxury catamaran. Refuel at the three restaurants or two bars, or take advantage of the private dining experience, which allows you to dine anywhere at the resort.

In the Area

Explore Goa‘s Portuguese architecture, whitewashed churches and colorful temples. Don’t miss the busy Friday market in Mapusa to shop for locally made jewelry and pottery, and to snack on spicy street food. The 17th-century Fort Aguada is nearby, and it still operates as Goa’s largest jail. Various water sports, such as jet skiing, can be organized from Sinquerim Beach. The Tropical Spice Plantation is a true must-visit. After you cross a wobbly wooden bridge, your guide will talk you through the local crops and then serve you lunch.

Easily the best hotel in Goa
Reviewed 2 days ago

The short version is that you will find no finer hotel in Goa - it is simply heaven.

The resort was very safe and secure, exceptionally clean, the buildings were beautifully designed, the food was devine, and the staff were so friendly and attentive.

When we were in our room, Arees was always on hand to make sure our stay was the best it could be. When we were at the pool Sanjeev (who memorised all of our names on the first day then remembered them for our whole stay!) looked after us so well and was always on hand with a smile if we needed something.

There was a range of restaurants - Italian, multi-cuisine and bar food. A short drive was The Banyan Tree which served great Asian fusion food. Breakfast had every type of food and fruit you could imagine.

There were a choice of pools (one at the sister resort a few minutes drive - this is the one we spent most time at because it was more kid friendly and the kids could jump into the water).

Even the gym was pretty good (it was a short car ride away - 2 mins in the free car service) - it had some basic machines, free weights and cardio. There were pool tables, squash court, tennis court (not in the best condition) and a climbing/ zip line course all on site.

Everyone we met was warm, friendly and provided exceptional service. Thank you to all the fabulous team! I am sure we will be back to stay again!

We have just ended our stay at this lovely hotel and have loved every minute. The service and attention towards us has been excellent, every member of staff has been kind and nothing too much trouble.
The food was sensational and drinks superb especially the cocktails and our favorite cold coffee by the pool.
We cannot fault this hotel, clean rooms great facilities and superb location. Pool staff fabulous special mention to Sanjeev and his team, restaurant staff at all meals were so attentive we cant wait to come again.

Family Holiday
Reviewed 6 days ago

I took this family holiday to celebrate my Parents Anniversary. Personal touch by each function of the hotel made all the difference to make it a memorable vacation. My parents were touched with the warmth shown each member of the staff they interacted with. It had the same warmth and affection of home. The food was great, the rooms were well maintained, garden wonderfully manicured. Overall a great stay. Thanks Taj.

Great Beach resort with picturesque views!

I stayed there with family and had a great experience. Location of the hotel is good, its overlooking the Arabian Sea / Sinquerim beach. You get a beautiful view from the lobby or for that matter any part of the property.

At Taj you could feel the warm hospitality from the time they welcome you with a garland of shells (which my son loved very much) to the time you checkout.
Staff was courteous and ready to help with a smile. We reached there early around 9:30 AM and were asked to wait as the check-in time was 2PM but with in 30-40 minutes they called us and provided us the room. Our room were spacious and clean, with a sit-out facing the garden.

Property is huge but well maintained, with lots of greenery and scenic views all around.
Breakfast buffet spread at Kokam Kitchen was great with lots of options. All the restaurants had a great view facing the pool and sea.

We wanted to get a scooter on rent so they sent a car to drop us to a nearly scooter/taxi rental place(though it was just walking distance). There are a lots of options to eat within a 3-5 km range.

There is no private beach but there is direct access to the beach from the stairs next to the pool. This part of the beach is clean, not very crowded and has some water sports options.
Hotel provides complimentary airport pickup and drop shuttle service as well.
