Set on 42 acres of Balinese-inspired gardens above Sinquerim Beach, the Vivanta by Taj Fort Aguada is a luxe resort overlooking the Arabian Sea. The Goan-Portuguese-style rooms, cottages and villas encapsulate the vibrant range of influences unique to Goa, India’s smallest state. The room numbers are painted on traditional azulejos (colorful Portuguese ceramic tiles), and the interiors are simply decorated with tile floors and white walls. They overlook either the garden or the sea, with the additional option of a “sit out” (a small outdoor seating area). Premium Indulgence Rooms are more colorful, with a teal and mustard color scheme, and the serviceable bathrooms feature Forest Essentials toiletries. There’s plenty to keep guests on the resort grounds, including a hexagonal infinity pool, a 24-hour gym and yoga classes, and the hotel offers a range of classes (from basket weaving to cooking), plus themed activities and excursions, such as fishing from a luxury catamaran. Refuel at the three restaurants or two bars, or take advantage of the private dining experience, which allows you to dine anywhere at the resort.
In the Area
Explore Goa‘s Portuguese architecture, whitewashed churches and colorful temples. Don’t miss the busy Friday market in Mapusa to shop for locally made jewelry and pottery, and to snack on spicy street food. The 17th-century Fort Aguada is nearby, and it still operates as Goa’s largest jail. Various water sports, such as jet skiing, can be organized from Sinquerim Beach. The Tropical Spice Plantation is a true must-visit. After you cross a wobbly wooden bridge, your guide will talk you through the local crops and then serve you lunch.
How to Get There
I was staying there in October after having booked the rooms under the freedom offer for army officers. I booked 4 days in Fort Aguada and 4 days at Taj Village. The stay was not a comfortable one mainly on account of the room condition ..... at all times everything in the room was damp ... the bed sheets etc were so damp that it was like sleeping on wet bed. Even the walls used to have a coat of condensed water like a horror movie. Overall the other facilities such as room service staff, bar etc was also below average. Only Mr Hitesh the manager was helpful and tried to compensate by upgrading as we shifted to Taj Village.
Location is just super !! And the staff is very friendly. Particularly want to name Ms Jyoti, & Mr Gopinath. Guys like these set higher benchmarks on customer service. I saw a guest child simply running towards Ms Jyoti, and she happily received him with open arms. This shows how committed are the staff to ensure that customers enjoy their stay.
For our short vacation in Goa, we stayed at Taj Fort Aguada Resort & Spa, Goa. The experience was mindblowing. Taj as usual was the best with their services. The property is beautiful. Every view was picturesque. I would recommend spending some time at the bar especially during the sunset as the view of the sunset from the bar is just something one should not miss while staying there. The most romantic getaway for couples I must say. The food was delicious. The buffet had a lot of variety and I must say every bite was unforgettable. The hotel was very accommodating and their taxi service was good in case one needs to go sightseeing. They were very caring but non-intrusive especially as we were two girls - which was a plus.Overall I must say that choosing Taj Fort Aguada by Vivanta was a good decision for our short three day vacation in Goa!
The the Taj hotel location at Fort Aguada is stunning. We spent a wonderful 2 weeks at h the resort . The Superior Garden View room was beautiful and had all the amenities you would expect .There is a good selection of food at breakfast, covering indian and european tastes. However it can get a bit chaotic after 10.00am , so best to get there early . There are 3 restaurants all are great , we particularly liked the Italian and Fish restaurant. All the staff were very good and very attentive .
Amazing experience and Service. We booked cottage instead of the ocean facing room , which was so much bigger and comfortable. the cottage provide a semi degree of privacy and more open space. the additional bed was skimpy and uncomfortable but all three of us managed to sleep on the bed which was big and abundant for us. the breakfast was delicious and it would be advisable to get there before 8:30 to avoid the crowd. the entire resort is very spacious and good to walk around and just relax.
