How to Get There
My ninth annual visit to this hotel. I very much like the ambience of the hotel and the generally excellent staff. The hotel is now however starting to look tired in places. A Captain's inspection of the establishment and a refurb is needed.
When I entered my room, there was a metre long length of rubber window beading hanging down from the top of the window. In my room and the corridors, wallpaper has lifted from the walls. In the gym, connection panels were hanging out from two of the running machines.
The gym is now rather small to house the number of people using it. The doors to the bedrooms have possibly the noisiest closing mechanism that has ever been designed. It is however a pleasant hotel and with some attention would be an excellent hotel.
I have been to couple of them now on different cities and I definitely liked this one. We had a private room for our group and a pre select menu. They were able to change for those with diet restrictions like me. The restaurant was full on a Monday evening. Just next to Westin where I stayed. Great location and lots of parking.
I was very surprised at how dated this Westin is. The guest rooms were old, wall paper town and stained. Beds were comfortable. Work out room was worn, dirty and in need of repair. The whole property is very tired. It’s a shame is it has potential.
Having a Starbucks on Property was nice. On site property was good bit managed by another company and you could not room charge.
Parking was very difficult.
We will stay somewhere else in the future.
This Westin serves as an oasis for grand banquets, weddings and dances for the southern Lake and northern Cook counties (sits just south of Lake Cook Road on historic Milwaukee Avenue). Impressive facility that is surprisingly often filled up.
Booked through Priceline on 50% off mobile special. Nice stay and comfortable bed as expected from Westin. It was a quick overnight stay, arrived late and left early. Parking was little longer (5 mins) walk than expected. Free and easy computer and printer use was a nice surprise.
