How to Get There
Free self parking. Easy check in. Kind of odd that it’s connected to another Marriott, and the connected lobbies are not as clean. However, Pere Marquette lobbies are beautiful. The room was very clean, comfortable and beautiful! Bathroom could be a tad bigger, but that’s out of their control in an older hotel. The one thing that’s a little concerning is security. The garage and walkway to the civic center are all unlocked all the time. You can get in without a hotel key and get into the elevators as well without keys. Overall very nice! Would definitely stay again!
I had a room here as part of a large convention. I was in a single king bedroom with delightfully soft and posh sheets and pillows. Even The Chair by the window was comfy! Nice hot water in my shower and everything was very clean. I can't speak to the experience the convention planners had although I know there were some problems with rooms not being available but that was not my experience. I ordered room service which was a delight, the where was pleasant and the food was tasty. The meeting rooms here are large and the banquet food was tasty and plentiful. I would definitely come here again!
The hotel was renovated in 2006 and some of the original murals are still in the building. Placards describing details in some of the hallways and such would be a nice addition
SO this is a very specific problem that I had that others may not, but I booked this hotel because there is an advertised airport shuttle, but I didn't realize until I got there that it doesn't run 24 hours. I ended up having to pay for a taxi instead of staying at a hotel where that would have been included. On the site this is not mentioned anywhere, and it also says a taxi to the airport costs about $12, but my taxi person (who had no meter by the way) charged me $26 plus tip. So maybe I was overcharged, but I feel like in general not being told that the airport shuttle isn't 24 hours put added stress on my experience as a person who travels for business. A lot of people were at the airport for early morning flights so I'm sure this isn't just a problem that I've had.
That being said, the rooms are really nice and comfortable. It was relatively quiet as well and the staff were all very nice and courteous. Definitely recommend this place as a person that likes comfort, but not as a business person who travels for a living.
We stayed at the Pere Marquette for the Collie Club of America National Specialty Show. It was the host hotel and connects to the Civic Center via a skybridge. This hotel has been nicely renovated and combines some historic elements with current trends in decor. We were on the 10th floor and had a view of the Courthouse building and a church, as well as the Illinois River. There is a Starbucks in the lobby, and the restaurant (Table 19) has excellent food, reasonably priced. Very pleased.
The hotel was right downtown in the center of Peoria and was recently renovated. The room was spacious, clean, and tastefully designed. I especially liked the large glass shower. The staff was courteous and helpful. Overall the stay was very enjoyable and I would recommend this hotel to my friends.
