How to Get There
We stayed at the Pere Marquette for the Collie Club of America National Specialty Show. It was the host hotel and connects to the Civic Center via a skybridge. This hotel has been nicely renovated and combines some historic elements with current trends in decor. We were on the 10th floor and had a view of the Courthouse building and a church, as well as the Illinois River. There is a Starbucks in the lobby, and the restaurant (Table 19) has excellent food, reasonably priced. Very pleased.
The hotel was right downtown in the center of Peoria and was recently renovated. The room was spacious, clean, and tastefully designed. I especially liked the large glass shower. The staff was courteous and helpful. Overall the stay was very enjoyable and I would recommend this hotel to my friends.
This hotel is in a beautiful historic building in Peoria. The lobby is gorgeous and feels renovated, the bar in the lobby is lovely (you'll probably be the only person having a drink, but that's ok...) and the rooms are spacious. I haven't stayed in other hotels in Peoria, but from the looks of the other hotels (including the Courtyard next door) this seems like the most upscale hotel in town.
As a platinum guest I had access to the lounge. This lounge was far and away better than the Marriott in Bloomington nearby. Sparkling water, a lovely honor bar, really nice hostess, really good view. The food was particularly bad however, and it feels old and tired.
The rooms are so spacious, but once again they feel quite old. I actually like them a lot. However many of my colleagues thought they just felt tired.
There is free parking and a shuttle service. Both work well. The free parking is thankfully connected to the hotel for when it snows. I'd definitely stay here again. It's not a perfect property, but it's pretty good for Peoria, Illinois.
Overall a positive experience, and as a Premier Platinum (lifetime PP as well) I see a lot of Marriott properties. I rank this property above average based on several factors. First, the lounge was outstanding both for the evening happy hour and the breakfast. I might even rate it the best I have seen (even including Hiltons) in a very long time. I was staying during a conference where most of the attendees are not professional travelers, so with my status I was upgraded all the way up to one of the huge suites. Sleep quality was good, location is far enough from the interstate to not notice traffic. Being attached to the convention center is a huge plus, as is the attached parking garage. If the rate works for you, the extras here are worth the money.
I cannot say enough great things about the Pere Marquette as a wedding venue. First of all, from the very beginning they worked with me and answered my countless email questions. I was worried about the day running smoothly while I was getting ready but the wedding team did an amazing job with coordinating vendors and getting everything set up. I had my phone near me the entire day so I could answer it if any confused vendor called and no one ever did!
They let us come in a day early (the Friday before) to set up. I just had to put up place cards and add a few centerpiece items for the florist. They did everything else as far as table clothes, chairs, etc. It was so simple!
The food was delicious from the hors d'oeuvres to the entrees. The chicken was flavorful and moist and the vegetarian pastry option was incredible! During our tasting there were many other great options to choose from as well which we appreciated.
The hotel itself is in a beautiful and historic building in Peoria. They have done a wonderful job updating the rooms and adding all of the amenities that you would need but keeping the beautiful vintage charm of the ballrooms and foyers.
We stayed in the bridal suite while we were there which is the perfect place for bridesmaids to get ready! Again, it is beautifully decorated and so spacious. I had 7 bridesmaids, and several other people there including a hair/makeup team and we all fit comfortably.
The Pere worked so hard to make our wedding the best wedding ever!! I honestly didn't have to worry about a single thing on the day besides getting married because every single worker went above and beyond to do an amazing job!!
