How to Get There
We sold our home nearby earlier in the month, and spent seven nights at the Renaissance North Shore over the last two weeks. My wife and I really loved it at the hotel. The lobby is warm, welcoming and well-designed. The elevators are quick and quiet. No complaints with our room - clean and comfortable. Excellent fitness facilities.
Can’t say enough about the front desk staff!Everyone was friendly and super-helpful. I got a number of texts from Jarrett asking how my stay was going and whether I needed anything. That’s a level of service I rarely find when staying at a hotel. Also, when we left our room, we accidentally forgot an important item. Denise, the delightful phone receptionist, had it waiting for us. Ramina, Katya, Freddie - I wish I could remember each of their names!
When the entire staff is this guest oriented, it tells me that hotel management has high standards. I understand that there will be further renovating in the months ahead, which will make future stays even nicer. Looking forward to coming back soon!
This wasn’t my first stay at this property although it was the longest by far. I was there for over a week and learned the property well.
The staff are ALL fantastic. Everyone from check-in, housekeeping, restaurant manager, concierge lounge staff, even the rental car manager were all fantastic. I did not have a single average encounter let alone a negative one. All of the food on property was good.
The only real drawback of the property is that it quite dated and the furnishings are tired. There are plans to completely renovate this summer and the drawings are fantastic. If it even closely resembles the designs then it will be good.
If you have a car then there is plenty close by to see and do. If you are walking you are in trouble. The few times I ventured out on foot I found the road to be quite treacherous. You could Uber or Lyft but it would be nice to just be able to walk around and stretch your legs.
I also wish there were better food selections in the concierge lounge.
Otherwise I wouldn’t hesitate to stay again.
Well I had high hopes for the hotel. And I honestly thought it had turned around in the beginning, but they just dropped the ball hard after doing so well.
On my first night after a long day of travel I had a large spider literally descend from the ceiling and land on my shoulder. I took care of the issue and let the hotel know so they could possibly clean the room or spray to prevent issues. They did so and even were nice enough to give me some points and a couple of complimentary beers and cheese and crackers. I thought that was a great gesture...
Fast forward to a week later in my room when I come back from yet another long day of work and finally start to relax and find another LARGE thick black spider on my ceiling in the same room. This was no longer a coincidence. I called down and had maintenance kill this one as I did not want to make it seem like I am making a big deal out of nothing.. even he said this was too much to stay in the room. So I had to actually request to move as that was not even offered by the gentleman at the front desk. I had to pack all of my luggage at 10 pm on a Sunday and move to a new room where the keys didn’t even work..
Also I never heard from any manager this time even though I specifically requested to speak with someone.. I had to go back down again and ask to see one who told me they would offer me a few thousand m
Points, which after all that I had to do seemed a bit low. I came back down this morning and asked to speak with a manager because the whole situation did not seem right. And yet still no call, no message for me, nothing. So after dropping the ball I guess my thoughts of the hotel have dropped quite a bit. And this isn’t even regarding the cigarette odor in my room or the dust all over the vents being blown all over my things from
Lack of cleaning. I’m simply disappointed, I have known the Renaissance brand to be much higher standards than this...
I was there for 4 nights at this hotel which is located near the highway and in a residential area. There no restaurants around where you could grab a bite, the hotel has its own steak restaurant but it’s upscale and expensive. Mariano’s supermarket is close by where you could really get some good deals for food and drinks. Potbelly sandwich shop is close by where their sandwiches are awesome. The staff is welcoming and courteous. The breakfast is excellent, I ordered eggs every day and it was fantastically prepared. It’s a hood hotel for people who don’t mind travelling about 40 kms to downtown Chicago for tourism and For business people who have work around Northbrook. Overall an excellent hotel would come back.
What a great hotel. Staff is the best. Rooms are nice and the beds are comfortable. Booked on Priceline and got an amazing deal. The second time I stayed here and is my go to hotel whenever on business again.
