How to Get There
I just completed an overnight stay at the W and had a very nice experience. From check-in to check-out, the staff were courteous and helpful. My Titanium status was recognized at check-in, leading to an upgrade to a Mega Room on the 21st floor. The hotel is located in an excellent location- minutes from bars, cafes, restaurants, and shops, and also a 10 minute walk from an L stop which services O'Hare Airport. Highly recommended!
This is not your normal W. Sure, the lobby is unique and updated enough, so it's kinda like fools gold if you happen to be basing your first look based on the pictures posted on the website. However, the rooms are definitely outdated, or have not been updated yet, at least not to the normal Modern W standards. They probably just did a face lift on this hotel when they bought it. The rooms feel and smell old. I would not recommend this for a romantic getaway. The fixtures were fairly modern, and also the TV. Carpet was old. Old style tub and shower curtain in bathrooms....
I stayed at this hotel during a business trip. It’s definitely not up to the Marriott Bonvoy standard. The gentleman at the front desk who checked me in wasn’t very helpful at all in providing info about the hotel amenities. The hotel suite that I stayed in was sizable but the layout/design was awkward. The toilet in the main bathroom was facing a wall and was so close to it that my legs barely fit. My husband who is taller couldn’t even fit in so he used the other toilet in the room. The shower/tub area was dark. The bed made my back ache which was a first for me as I don’t recall ever having a back ache after sleeping on a bed. The hallways are also dark and dreary. The elevators and rugs need some cleaning. The breakfast at the restaurant wasn’t bad and staff were all very friendly. The donut Thursday in the lobby area was a nice touch.
I would rather stay at another property instead of returning here.
