How to Get There
Taking our Granddaughter to Chicago for her 18th Birthday and for a little get away time before starting college turned out to be EVERYTHING she wanted and more, The Staff at the Westin North, Chicago IL. treated her to cake and cookies that were delivered to our room while out visiting the city. She was overwhelmed and WOWWED! The entire staff
made our visit one that she will remember for a long time to come! Thank you Kathy and your staff!
The location is perfect. I was visiting for business. The conference room was clean, comfortable and good acoustics. The staff was always friendly. The bed as always was heavenly. The room was spotless clean. Like the in room refrigerator and safe. The workout facility would be only minor criticism. On the smaller side and frequently too crowded. However the equipment was new and in good working order. Better than many hotels in his class.
Check in was fast and easy maybe because they have a separate check-in for SPG guests. I asked for a higher room away from the elevator and think that is a good idea because the noise is minimal.
Taking the train from O'Hare with a few block walk gets you there in 1 hour even at rush hour for $5 a person.
The location is really good walked to several drinking establishments and had excellent food at the Grill just off the lobby. I have seen people say bad things about the Grill but we sat at the bar and had a good time. The rooms are nice, plain with great beds. The lobby is large enough that you never feel cramped.
The downside it that there are not great views from the rooms because of the huge skyscrapers surrounding the building, there is no pool and there is not a communal area to relax with friends or new friends. The price is higher than similar accommodations.
Went to the 360 atop the John Hancock building right across the street. You can purchase a 'Go Chicago' pass and app from Trip Advisor and save a few bucks. Shopping is everywhere within a block.
It was an excellent stay but the drawbacks do keep the value at a 4 out of 5.
The place to stay on Magnificent Mile. Beautiful, very walkable area. Very good service, nice hotel bar and grill at lobby level. Rather small room with no view. Changed from first assigned room which faced the hotel exhaust from the only window. Moved a few floors up...
Got a good deal on a last minute trip to Chicago. Location is great, towards the north part of Michigan Ave right next to Water Tower/Hancock Center. Bed was comfy and room was clean although shower didn’t drain well which is a pet peeve of mine. Check in left a lot to be desired. First, the line was pretty long and slow moving compared to most other hotels I’ve been to recently. Second, and more importantly, our rooms weren’t ready over 1.5-2 hrs after check in time because the people ahead of us ‘hadn’t left yet’. Never heard of this before and with dinner/show reservations fast approaching it was a little more than an annoyance to say the least. The manager Matthew was very helpful in addressing the situation. Overall if the deal is too good to pass up I’d recommend this property but I’m not sure it does anything that sets it apart from the many equivalent nearby choices...
