Quaint and historic

Nice rooms, fabulous location, good value given where it is located, close to many of the great sites and eateries Chicago has to offer. Elevators can be iffy and be prepared to wait if you eat in the hotel restaurant - some of the servers' get up and go has got up and gone. Overall it is well worth a visit when in the Windy City.

I stay at the Knickerbocker regularly. Probably six or more times a year. I have given the hotel glowing reviews in the past. The Superior King room is a good value. This time they overbooked, so they upgraded me to a junior suite. While the junior suite might be slightly larger than the Superior King, the sleeping area in the junior suite has no windows. So, not much of an upgrade in my opinion. More importantly, there is an overhead high intensity light in every bathroom and a hanging light fixture in front of and alongside the bathroom mirror in all of the rooms. The hanging fixture was missing. Did you ever try to use a mirror when the only light is behind you? I advised the people at the front desk and was told they would take care of it immediately. My wife and I left the room. Nothing had been done by the time we returned, three hours later. The following morning I spoke with a manager. He told me he would personally make sure it was taken care of. Nothing was ever done, nor did they even have the courtesy to apologize. There are hundreds of hotels in Chicago at all price points. The accommodations and service are what set each apart. Both were lacking this time.

First time at this hotel. Breakfast food good. Staff in restaurant efficient but rat her abrupt and to as friendly as should be. Table of four and all thought the same. Gym not very big and some bits not working. Bedroom very comfortable though.

Great Location, Good Price, Decent Rooms

Nothing extraordinary, but a reliably solid hotel in a good location on the north side right off of Michigan Ave. Room was a little small (beds were full size, I think, not queen), but plenty efficient for us. The bathroom has a sliding door, which doesn't provide a lot of privacy, but it was OK. The rates were very reasonable. The staff was polite. I would stay here again.
