The Review

Italy’s Amalfi Coast is famous for its natural splendor, and although the Amalfi Hotel is far from that sunny coast, it brings a taste of la dolce vita to Chicago’s River North. Thoughtfully designed and staffed with warm personalities, the Amalfi offers a lavish yet cozy stay.

{“type”:”img-inline”,”src”:”/static/images/product/properties/3194/prop-58953-1350675075-full.jpg”,”width”:”275″,”caption”:”Check-in is passé at this hotel where Experience Designers help guests plan their entire stay.”}The front desk is rendered passé at this hotel. Instead, guests sit with Experience Designers, who check them in and provide as much or as little guidance as they need during their stay in the Windy City.

Rooms are gorgeously decorated in a warm palette: gold and russet bed pillows and runner, and dark mahogany bed tables and oversize desk. The comfy beds are dressed in 315-thread-count Egyptian cotton sheets and premium Serta pillowtop mattress, and the bigs bathrooms have luxe Aveda products and dual-showerheads.

Before heading to explore the River North neighborhood, head up to the sixth floor Ravello Lounge for a free aperitif (from 5.30 to 7 pm daily) — I loved the signature Amalfitini made with Skyy vodka, Caravella limoncello, Peachtree schnapps, triple sec and white cranberry juice. If liquid dinners aren’t your thing, the hotel’s partner restaurant, Harry Caray’s, is just across the street. Consistently rated one of the best steakhouses in Chicago, don’t miss the nine-ounce filet mignon with wild mushrooms, garlic mashed potatoes and truffle butter — down-to-earth Midwestern fare that’s the perfect complement the European sophistication back at the hotel.

Awesome stay in Chicago
Reviewed 1 week ago

I took my wife to Chicago for a Valentines weekend and we stayed at the Kinzie with no regrets. That’s actually not fair because it almost makes it sound like nothing bad happened, we stayed at the Kinzie and had a great time and will almost certainly stay there on our next trip to Chicago.
The River North location is great with shopping, food, and activities within walking distance. The rooms are spacious and clean, decorated nicely and very fairly priced. The staff was friendly and send you a text when you arrive to let you know that’s the easiest way to communicate with them should any issues arise.
There is a nightly reception included where beer, wine, and bar snacks are supplied at no extra charge. Breakfast is also included which is nothing extravagant but gets the job done and the options are pretty healthy, sometimes with doughnuts. You also get a 10% discount at Public House, sports bar next door, when you stay at Kinzie.
The only real thing that prevents the fifth star is the temperature of the room isn’t adjustable to a cool enough temperature for my liking and the gym has no fans to circulate the air.

Excellent stay for Wedding
Reviewed 1 week ago

My husband and I were in Chicago for a wedding and stayed at Kinzie. Our stay was excellent. The room was perfect. Housekeeping worked around our schedule. The breakfast was a bonus; and the evening happy hour was fun. The hotel was great access to downtown Chicago, and very easy to trains/public transit. Would stay here again the next time we are in Chicago.

Our stay at Kinzie Hotel over 5 days was generally speaking very enjoyable except for a few hiccups eg. the coffee maker was not working and no wifi being present for some time. However, the response time towards correcting these problems was very swift. The staff were all very friendly and welcoming. As in most hotels of this rating in America, the breakfasts are usually of a Continental nature which was very disappointing but i guess this is the norm as described above so.....
From 5-7pm there are free drinks and snacks for their guests in the lounge, which was quite pleasing.
All in all no serious complaints and except for the breakfast,I wouldn't mind staying there again!

A wonderful hotel well located within walking distance of theaters

I loved this hotel-- stylish and modern and very comfortable. I picked it as a central location where I could walk to the Goodman theater, the Art Institute and many, many fine restaurants. Service was outstanding.

Kinzie hotel Chicago
Reviewed 4 weeks ago

I had the pleasure of staying at the kinzie hotel in Chicago on a recent business trip.
I was having trouble finding delivery for dinner. I walked down to the front desk and met a wonderful young lady named Christian.
Not only did she help me. She ordered it for me and delivered to my door.
Christian went above and beyond and never lost her beautiful smile. While dealing with this technology challenged woman.
This hotel also takes dogs and has a small dog walking area. It's very convenient.
Thanks to everyone at the Kinzie Hotel.
I shall return...
