The Review

Italy’s Amalfi Coast is famous for its natural splendor, and although the Amalfi Hotel is far from that sunny coast, it brings a taste of la dolce vita to Chicago’s River North. Thoughtfully designed and staffed with warm personalities, the Amalfi offers a lavish yet cozy stay.

{“type”:”img-inline”,”src”:”/static/images/product/properties/3194/prop-58953-1350675075-full.jpg”,”width”:”275″,”caption”:”Check-in is passé at this hotel where Experience Designers help guests plan their entire stay.”}The front desk is rendered passé at this hotel. Instead, guests sit with Experience Designers, who check them in and provide as much or as little guidance as they need during their stay in the Windy City.

Rooms are gorgeously decorated in a warm palette: gold and russet bed pillows and runner, and dark mahogany bed tables and oversize desk. The comfy beds are dressed in 315-thread-count Egyptian cotton sheets and premium Serta pillowtop mattress, and the bigs bathrooms have luxe Aveda products and dual-showerheads.

Before heading to explore the River North neighborhood, head up to the sixth floor Ravello Lounge for a free aperitif (from 5.30 to 7 pm daily) — I loved the signature Amalfitini made with Skyy vodka, Caravella limoncello, Peachtree schnapps, triple sec and white cranberry juice. If liquid dinners aren’t your thing, the hotel’s partner restaurant, Harry Caray’s, is just across the street. Consistently rated one of the best steakhouses in Chicago, don’t miss the nine-ounce filet mignon with wild mushrooms, garlic mashed potatoes and truffle butter — down-to-earth Midwestern fare that’s the perfect complement the European sophistication back at the hotel.

Perfect staycation

My boyfriend and I spent the night in the city (we are from suburbs of Chicago). We chose Kinzie for its location, which was right in the heart of the city. It was awesome!!! Our room was clean, stylish, and comfortable. My boyfriend had the option to have a bottle of wine waiting for us in our room upon check-in, and we enjoyed that while sitting on our sofa that looked out the floor to ceiling window overlooking Chicago. The included happy hour was NOT your average hotel social hour. It was a party!!!! Josh the bartender poured generous drinks, danced, and tended to everyone’s needs. The music and atmosphere was great!!! The selfie-machine right off the elevators made for fun,end-of-the-night pictures. We used both the valet and concierge services and all staff members were friendly and willing to help! We will DEFINITELY be back! Thanks, Kinzie!

Get Down, Jump Up, Love Chicago

Perfectly situated with easy access to two train line (red and green), but within easy walking distance of several sites in the downtown area. With my 75 year old reconditioned Mom, we still walked to Millenium Park, the CIBC theatre (Hamilton) and the Magnificent Mile - in the winter rain!!!
The room was clean and comfortable - even though we were four. The continental breakfast was sufficient to get your day started.
May Intake a moment to rave about the staff in general, but two in particular? George at the front reception proved himself ready and willing to do what he could to make us feel welcome and to meet our needs. He remembered our names and didn’t hesitate to call us by name for the duration of our stay. Thank you, George!
And Josh! The ‘happy’ in happy hour. The hotel hosts guests for free wine and beer from 5-7pm. What’s included in that cost is service by a man who clearly loves people and makes his job look like the best job on earth! You’re the best, Josh!

Kinzie Hotel was the perfect spot for our weekend home-away from home! George at the front desk was so welcoming and provided great recommendations for food as well as attractions. Everyday that he saw us, he warmly greeted us by name.

Happy hour was HAPPNIN!!! Josh had the party on and Poppin! He moved about the room making sure that all guests felt included.

Location was very central. Close to shopping, restaurants and transit. Rooms and facilities very clean.

The support staff attentive and always inquiring about our well being.

Will definately return to the Kinzie on my next visit to The Windy City!!

Kinzie Hotel Chicago was one of the best places I have stayed

I can’t say enough nice things about the Kinzie Hotel. The location is perfect, walking distance to all sightseeing venues, food and night life just around the corner. The staff were so pleasant. Night crew Raul and Jamal were always there to greet us when we came in the door every night. Lauren on days is so sweet and always willing to answer questions. Bartender Josh is the best, always greeeting us with a smile and song. And who can complain about free Happy Hor every day! Can’t wait to visit Chicago again and I will definitely stay at the Kinzie Hotel when I do.
