How to Get There
Historic hotel in the heart of downtown Chicago!
The location is perfect. It was my first time in the city and I pretty much was able to walk within 15 to 20 minutes to the major attractions in Chicago: Art Institute, Millenium Park, Crown fountain, Sky deck, and was within a short ride to many others. Not to mention there is also a subway stop nearby. Walking along Michigan Avenue was great and there’s so much to see.
The hotel open in the 1920s and has hosted many presidents and important celebrities. I got a discounted rate and asked for a view of the city if possible since it was my first time in Chicago, and even though the front desk agent said they were going to try, they gave us a room facing a brick wall.
I understand the views are up an upgrade but they could at least told us so. My room had two bathrooms which were very convenient: one with a bathtub and one with a very small shower. I heard rooms have been renovated but you can see there are still some details to take care of such as a peeling roof and it was very dusty in some areas such as the AC grill, behind the lamps, etc.
Overall, I felt like the room was a little too dark unless we opened the shades but then the neighbors across could see.
There was always a wait at the front desk with 2 agents at most. You could see the managers in the back working instead of helping the line go faster.
There is a market downstairs, an Irish bar, a regular bar and I believe even a hair salon. They have a gym and a pool on the eighth floor but there’s a fee to use the gym which was a disappointment.
They also have a bell stand that can store your luggage the day you check out but it’s only until 7 PM and it’s $3 per bag. I have never heard of that! Sadly, we had to bring our luggage that night before catching our flight.
Overall, a good hotel with lots of interesting historical facts that you can learn about on your elevator ride, but the service, cleanliness and other things can be improved.
This hotel was awesome! The only thing that was better than our rooms were the people that worked there ! Shout out to Marcus Anderson, who checked us in! Great personality professional, and he helped make our stay perfect! My family needed two rooms so he suggested we upgrade to a Junior suite with a room across the hall. He was able to discount the suite and the set up was literally perfect!
Here are the best things about Hilton- 720 Michigan:
1) Marcus Anderson
2)A lot of elevators!! Took only seconds to get around
3)rooms were ready when we got there- at noon!! (Not expected since check-in is always at three but made our day great)
4) A woman named Sonya cleaned our rooms and was amazing. Got us all that we needed
5) A Hairdryer that is as good as the one at home
We will definitely come back to Chicago and stay at this Hilton.
I was very disappointed with the room we were given. It was the size of the closet and faced a brick wall. As a silver HH member, it was quite a disappointment. The pictures on the website are not indicative at all what the rooms actually look like.
Great location, near plenty places to eat and places to visit. Walking distance to Grant park, Field Museum, Maggy Daley Park, Aquarium, Observatory, Lake Michigan, River Walk and you can walk to the Bean, Buckingham fountain, and Art Institute of Chicago. We had a corner room with two queen beds, two baths and two refrigerators. Unfortunately, there was no microwave. The beds are comfy and the bathrooms are nice. The staff is very helpful and we definitely enjoyed our outing.
Spent a long weekend while in town for a trade show and brought the family. The staff was very accommodating and with my Hilton Honors gave us a nicer corner room upgrade. The views were good and the room recently remodelled, clean and comfortable. On site dining options were good, but room service selection is very limited.
